Breitling’s New Timepiece Is A Fitting Ode To The New Continental GT
For regular folks like us, the world of high-end luxury is nothing more than a fantasy. But for those who have the resources to get access to the clouds, there are items like luxury cars and limited edition timepieces to welcome them with open arms. In the case of Breitling and Bentley, it’s a combination of the two things, as the Swiss watchmaker recently showed with the introduction of the ultra limited Bentley GT Dark Sapphire Edition watch.
By itself, the “Dark Sapphire” name already screams luxury, and I haven’t even gotten into the actual timepiece. Breitling says that the watch takes inspiration from the new Continental GT, one of the few cars in the world that can legitimately lay claim to being one of the most luxurious ones, too. Name, inspiration, and design cues notwithstanding, the Bentley GT Dark Sapphire Edition is also limited to just 500 units so there’s no guarantee that everyone in the world who expresses interest in buying the watch will get their hands on one. Put all of these elements together and you can understand why this kind of watch is really reserved for the upper echelon of today’s society, exactly like the luxury sedan from which it’s inspired from. Maybe someday I’ll have enough disposable income to be able to afford a watch like this. Until then, I’ll reserve my seat with the rest of you and admire it from a distance.

Bentley Launches Bentayga Apple Watch App
The Bentley Bentayga is one of the more recent SUVs to hit the market, but it sure is making up for lost time by taking a deep dive into the world of app integration with the release of a new app dedicated to the Apple Watch. Needless to say, the app works only for those people who own a Bentayga and and Apple Watch.
People who do find themselves included in this particular group will have the benefit of pairing their smart watches to the Bentayga’s infotainment system. Simple enough, right? Once the pairing is successful, users can control certain features of the Bentayga, including on-board climate and entertainment systems. They can also adjust the heating, ventilation, and massage functions of their seats, while also monitor real-time information like vehicle speed, distance traveled, and outside temperature. Unfortunately, it can’t perform other tricks like remote starting the car if they don’t have an iPhone that’s paired to the same infotainment system.
Nevertheless, the app aims to provide an improved level of connectivity with the Bentayga. It’s a nice little feature that should come in handy in certain conditions, all in the name of enhancing customer service. That, in a nutshell, is what this app is for. It may not prove to be as useful when it’s the driver who’s wearing the watch – all the info he might need is staring at him in the face – but it could turn into a useful feature for passengers of the SUV, especially those at the back who may be less inclined to exert any kind of effort when they’re sitting comfortably in the luxurious and spacious rear section of the interior.
The app itself is pretty straightforward so those who end up downloading it should be able to learn all of its tricks in short order. Then again, those who are averse to the whims of technology are probably better off spending their money on something a little more to their liking. Care to interest anyone on a diamond-studded Mulliner Tourbillon by Breitling mechanical clock that costs $220,000?

British luxury automaker, Bentley, and Swiss timepiece maker, Breitling, have been partners-in-crime far longer than any of us can remember. So it only seemed appropriate that the latter would commemorate the launch of the new Continental V8 with a limited edition timepiece.
The Breitling for Bentley GMT V8 is a limited piece luxury watch that pays homage to the newest model in the Bentley line-up. Among the features of the Breitling for Bentley GMT V8 include a metallic red inner city bezel that plays a nice contrast with the watch’s black dial and the Royal Ebony dial. There are also cambered sapphire crystal that have been glare proofed on both sides with 38 additional jewels. There’s also a red triangle-tipped hour hand that completes one rotation every 24 hours, a multiple timezone display, an automatic COSC-chronometer-certified chronograph with a Breitling exclusive “30-second chronograph,” 6-hour, 15-minute, and 30-second totalizers, a screw-locked crown, and a sweep seconds hand that makes one full turn of the dial in half-a-minute, allowing readings that are accurate to an amazing 1/8th of a second.
For all of its unique characteristics - and the fact that it’s a Breitling - the 250-piece limited edition watch costs $10,590 a pop. It’s expensive for a watch, but it’s a bargain compared to actually buying the car itself, which by the way, costs 20 times as much.
Breitling and Bentley have teamed up once again to create a limited edition chronograph that marks Bentley’ recent world-record breaking exploits on the ice. This watch joins the current Supersports "Ice Speed Record" convertible edition that will be limited to only 100 units.
The Breitling Bentley ISR has borrowed many of its design cues from the special edition Bentley Supersports Ice Speed Record Convertible. It gets a carbon fiber fascia with dashboard-style dial, a classically knurled finish on the control buttons, distinctive red dialing, and a carbon fiber presentation box.
Wolfgang Duerheimer, Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, said: "Juha Kankkunen’s drive was a remarkable achievement and worthy of a very special car. The Continental Supersports "Ice Speed Record" is a true driver’s car that captures that unique Bentley spirit. It offers extreme performance, agility and an extrovert personality, while retaining the refinement, handcrafted luxury and comfort our customers expect."

Now that Bentley has unveiled the Supersports Ice Speed Record Convertible to celebrate theirworld speed record on ice, it seemed only natural to see a chronograph celebrating the same event. In fact, there are two watches designed by Breitling, the same company who revealed the Supersport Light Body Watch earlier this month.
The two watches are called GT Ice and GT Racing Ice and they come with an Ice White dial – an exclusive Bentley livery color. Both of them feature an all-polished finish, and the GT Racing Ice version features a special finish that alternates between satin-brushed upper surfaces and polished sides. On the case back is a medallion with the outline of the famous Bentley Continental GT.
Both of the Bentley timepieces feature the Breitling Calibre 13B chronograph movement - chronometer-certified by the COSC and equipped with a calendar displaying the day and date through a large twin aperture at 3 o’clock.
The GT Ice and GT Racing Ice will be built in limited numbers with prices starting from $7,165.
Bentley Continental Supersports is the most impressive model the British company has revealed on the market. No wonder why Breitling has revealed a watch as impressive as the car. The watch comes with a ultra-light titanium case and is about about 45mm wide. It will be offered in a red and black motif and will be launched at Baselworld 2011.
The new Breitling for Bentley watch powerfully complements the design of the Supersports convertible. With its light and sturdy titanium chassis, its “dashboard-style” dial enhanced by three ringed counters and its bezel with a typically Bentley-style raised knurled motif, the Supersports Light Body limited series evokes a sophisticated high-powered coupe car.
In tribute to its sporting qualities, Breitling has equipped it with an extremely intelligent and exclusive double-counter system, featuring a central minute hand and a twin-handed totalizator enabling one to read the elapsed hours and minutes at a glance just as one usually reads standard time on a watch.
For all its Supersports customers out there, Bentley is offering a limited edition watch to match they cool sports car. Limited to only of 1,000 pieces, the Bentley Supersports special series carries a bezel adorned with an elegant raised and knurled motif evoking the characteristic design of Bentley controls.
Beneath this ultra-sporty, powerful bodywork beats an exclusive Breitling for Bentley motor chronometer-certified by the COSC: a selfwinding chronograph movement with central 60-minute counter. The latter is an original system enabling extremely clear reading of the minutes being timed, exactly like conventional time read-off thanks to the dedicated red arrow-tipped hand. It is complemented by a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and a central scale with hundredth of an hour or hundredth of a minute graduations.
In addition to its traditional fixed tachometric scale, the dashboard-style dial features a “variable tachometer” with circular slide rule. This world-exclusive Breitling-made device – contrary to the usual tachometers that cannot extend beyond 60-second periods – serves to measure average speed whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached. The Bentley Supersports is fitted with a rubber strap or a Speed bracelet ensuring a perfect hold on the wrist.
In order to celebrate the launch of the new generation Continental GT, Bentley, in cooperation with Breitling, has unveiled the new GMT chronograph. The watch, which will only be built in a limited number of 1,000 units, features an ingenious multiple time zone display system and serves as an international ambassador of the legendary British automobile tradition.
The chronograph’s flange and rubber strap clad will be branded with the famous British Racing Green color while also sporting 38 jewels. It also features a 24-hour second time zone with red hand adjustable using a push-piece integrated into the left side of the case. Its movement is Breitling Calibre 47B and is chronometer-certified by the COSC.
Bentley’s limited chronograph comes in a steel case that is water resistant up to 100 meters. It has a rotating pinion bezel that carries the British Racing Green flange and the 24-city time zone scale. The dial is black and the strap is British Racing Green or black rubber GMT.
Like with the new Continental GT, the new watch will be on display at the Paris Auto Show at the end of this week.
