2017 Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept
There once was a time when Bentley was synonymous with British opulence and luxury. That notion still holds true to this day, but Bentley, like everybody else it seems, has evolved into something more than that. These days, the flying “B” has expanded its reach in the automotive landscape with two recent concept offerings showcasing the future of the company as a creator of sporty and aggressive electric sports cars. We first saw how that looked with the debut of the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and a year later, the Crewe-based, British automaker returned to Geneva to bring the coupe’s convertible counterpart, the EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept.
Part electric car, part luxury car, and part sports car, the EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept can probably be best described as the love child of all these segments, created and developed to showcase part of Bentley’s future in the event it decides to go down this road. The company has said that it plans to do just that and is convinced that an all-electric sports car like the EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept can be built without comprising the company’s long-standing tradition of class and luxury. Sounds like the company’s reaching, but remember, we’ve been down this road before.
After all, this is the same company that people scoffed at when it said that it wanted to build an SUV and yet, here we are in 2017, and the Bentayga is making a pretty good case for itself as one of the best luxury SUVs on the market today. That’s not to say that Bentley is going to follow a similar blueprint with the development of the EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept, but the bigger point here is that Bentley has successfully gotten out of its comfort zone, so there’s no reason for it not to dive into more unchartered waters.
Whether it’s the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept or the EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept, the days of brushing off Bentley’s ability to spread its wings are long gone. At this point, if it says that it’s committed to building an electric car and it has a concept car that it can use to base a future electric car from, taking the company’s word for it would be a far better option than dismissing it again entirely. We don’t know what the EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept is going to amount to, but the fact that it made its debut in Geneva earlier this month speaks to the possibilities of seeing it in production form down the road.

With sales increasing tenfold since the Volkswagen Group took over the British carmaker after a fierce battle with BMW, Bentley has been on a roll this year, despite a somewhat aging lineup. After announcing that the company’s first SUV will launch toward the end of the year, Bentley introduced a second mid-cycle refresh for the top-selling Continental GT line and has now unveiled a near-production concept car at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Called the EXP 10 Speed 6, the new Bentley concept radiates with old-school British luxury in a modern and compact package, while part of its name harks back to Woolf Barnato’s famous Blue Train Bentley from 1930. Featuring two seats and a long hood, and painted in a variation of British Racing Green, the EXP 10 Speed Six has a pretty good chance of going into production in the near future.

Okay, we’ve seen Porsche, BMW and Audi all experimenting with hybrid and electric cars, which is okay. But now things are getting a little more upscale in the electrification of luxury cars to help boost mpgs without losing performance and comfort. The latest of the entrants is Bentley with its Beijing-bound Hybrid Concept, which is little more than an electrified and copper-accented Mulsanne. Hey, if you’re gonna reveal a new hybrid engine, then why not show it off in your flagship sedan?
The details are still a little scarce on the Hybrid Concept, but Bentlry did let us in on a few details. We know that the hybrid drivetrain will carry the same 6.75-liter V-8 gas burner as the base model, but with electric motors added to boost fuel economy and output, while decreasing CO2 emissions. According to Bentley, this drivetrain bumps fuel economy up by 25 percent and guts CO2 by 70 percent.
What’s more, this drivetrain is in Bentley’s future plans, and it will slowly make its way into every Bentley vehicle.

When Bentley introduced the Mulsanne Vision Concept at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, it did so believing that the car would garner significant attention that would inevitably lead to the company green-lighting a production version sooner than later.
Well, it appears that even the best laid plans sometimes go up in smoke after Bentley CEO, Wolfgang Schreiber, officially confirmed that the a production Mulsanne convertible isn’t in the cards anymore.
Speaking to Car & Driver, Schreiber stated that Bentley will not do the Mulsanne Convertible anymore because the demand for the car isn’t strong enough to justify the time and resources the company would have to put into it. "The demand for a Mulsanne convertible is just regional," Schreiber explained before saying that only a handful of markets like the U.S. would welcome a convertible model of the company’s flagship luxury sedan.
It’s also worth pointing out that the sedan version of the Mulsanne didn’t exactly burn the sales charts when it went on sale — last year’s 1,169 units sold barely crossed the 1,200 mark — so the decision to ax the convertible model isn’t exactly surprising, especially in light of the company’s renewed attempts at building a new crossover.
Make no mistake, the British marquee still has plans of expanding its lineup in the near future. It’s just that the Mulsanne Convertible won’t be a part of it anymore.

Bentley has been rumored to be preparing a comeback to the racing circuits for quite some time. Those rumors will be put to rest in just a few hours when the Paris Auto Show opens its doors and we are introduced to the Continental GT3 Concept specially designed for the FIA GT3 European Championship. The future race car will be racing in the 24-hour marathons starting 2013 and will be joining the circuit to tackle the likes of Alpina, Aston Martin, and Porsche.
The Continental GT3 Concept will be based off of the Continental GT Speed. It will be powered by a W12 engine, but unlike the road-going version, it will be much lighter. In fact, the car needs to undergo a significant drop in weight considering its rivals in this category only weigh about 2,755 lbs. By comparison, the standard Continental GT Speed weighs an agonizing 5,478 lbs. The luxury racer will also feature a rear-wheel drive chassis in accordance with the regulations, state-of-the-art motorsport hardware, and a comprehensive aerodynamic package
The vehicle would have to drop all of its luxurious features found in the standard model’s interior and adopt a full race cage and carbon fiber shell seats to participate in these races. The large rear wing and front bumper will be made of carbon fiber and the entire body will consist of lightweight materials.
Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, stated: "The clear message from our customers is that Bentley belongs on the racetrack, and the Continental GT3 is the realisation of a dream we’ve had ever since the launch of the Continental GT. The new GT Speed is the perfect car for us to develop into a racer, and our work so far has shown huge potential. The Continental GT3 is set to show the world what the Continental GT is capable of in its most extreme form, and establishes a solid foundation for Bentley’s long-term motorsport plans."

British luxury car maker, Bentley, knows how to make waves in the auto industry. Three years ago at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, they unveiled their new flagship sedan, the Mulsanne.
On the same event three years later, Bentley followed it up with the Mulsanne Vision Concept, a convertible version of the Mulsanne and the likely successor of the Azure as their top-dollar convertible model.
While the company didn’t release official photos of the Mulsanne Vision Concept, they did drop a number of sketch photos of the convertible concept, all while touting it as the potential future of the marque’s flagship family.
"The modern, luxurious, high-tech Mulsanne saloon provides a perfect foundation on which to create the world’s most elegant convertible," said Wolfgang Dürheimer, Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive. "The Convertible Concept will extend the appeal of the Mulsanne family, while enhancing the profile of the Bentley brand, particularly in new and emerging markets."
The Mulsanne Vision Concept exudes the elegant and graceful form of a coach-built marque car, complete with sculpted lines and muscular haunches that convey a sense of power and movement to the luxury car. The interior of the concept was also described as having a spacious yet intimate cabin design that’s inspired by luxurious, high-performance power boats.
Noted for its unrivaled combination of chic, contemporary design, and the painstaking attention to detail and luxury refinement that Bentley is known for, the Mulsanne Convertible Concept is yet another proof that when it comes to high-end luxury, only a few can lay claim to Bentley’s position as one of the best in the business.
It’s time to put an end to all of the rumors surrounding the future Bentley SUV by talking about the real deal. Bentley has unveiled the EXP 9 F at the Geneva Motor Show. This luxury Sport Utility Vehicle concept previews the company’s third model alongside the Mulsanne and the Continental ranges.
The new EXP 9 F looks just how one would expect a Bentley SUV to look. The designers basically took the standard Bentley styling cues and hiked it up to an SUV level. It features Bentley’s famous matrix grille and round lamps, as well as an ultra-wide, two-part split tailgate and twin exhaust tailpipes.
The engine for the EXP 9 F, however, still remains a mystery. The concept was built with a 6.0 liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine under the hood, but the company says that, for the production version, both a 4.0 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 or a hybrid drivetrain could meet the performance requirements.

UPDATE 11/20/12: There’s word that Bentley has come up with a name for the production EXP 9 F. While there’s no official confirmation, but it looks like the SUV will be dubbed as the Falcon.
UPDATE 02/03/13: The Falcon has come and gone. That much appears to be the case after word has come out that Bentley has gone ahead and thrown the EXP 9 F to the dustbin. Can’t say we’re surprised, fellas.

A Bentley Motors apprentice team has won a special “Spirit of Greenpower” award for its performance in the Greenpower Corporate Challenge which took place at Goodwood race circuit yesterday. The Bentley apprentice team designed, engineered and built the electric powered car which they entered into the Greenpower Challenge as well as a season of “F24+” racing.
The Bentley Greenpower car is called Continental DC (Direct Current) and runs off a 24-volt motor supplied by two 12-volt batteries. Designed for lightness and maximum power efficiency the one-seater Continental DC has a carbon fibre chassis and low resistance tyres.
The Continental DC is powered by a 24v Motor that delivers 0.5bhp and 5.1 lb ft. It is capable of hitting a top speed of 40 mph and has Zero CO2 emissions.

Bentley Motor Cars revealed a dramatic concept car the Hunaudieres at 1999 Geneva Motor Show, one year after Volkswagen became the owner of Bentley company. This supercar project provides the debut of a new 16 cylinder engine developed to a specific brief to provide a technologically advanced power plant with unique Bentley characteristics.
