If you’re part of the richest 0.1% and want to show off your enormous wealth, you’ll probably resort to buying a really expensive car. As luck would have it, there are many, many multi-million-dollar cars on the market these days and Bentley peppered up that list not too long ago with the Mulliner Bacalar, a $2 million version of the Continental GT Convertible with a speedster-like tonneau cover.
12 were made and all were sold before the rest of the world even got to see the car but Bentley reckoned the Bacalar could sprain even more necks and that’s how the car you see here came to be.
2020 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Equestrian Edition
Bentley is adding a new member to its growing lineup of exclusive bespoke creations. The newest addition is called the Continental GTC Equestrian Edition. Limited to just a single unit — yes, there’s only one in the world — the Continental GTC Equestrian Edition makes for a suitable follow-up to the outlandish Bacalar roadster that the boys from Crewe, England unveiled earlier this month. Though not as over-the-top as the Bacalar, the Continental GTC Equestrian Edition is a sultry one-off that draws inspiration from the popular hobby among the rich and famous. It features extraordinary and exclusive details that no other Continental GTC carries, justifying its billing as a true one-of-one creation. The Bentley Continental GTC Equestrian Edition is already spoken for, and, as you might expect, the one-off model was specially commissioned by a client who’s fond of thoroughbreds.
2021 Bentley Mulliner Bacalar
Add Bentley to the growing list of automakers that have taken the bold step of introducing a roofless speedster in their vehicle portfolio. The British automaker took to the Interwebs to introduce the Mulliner Bacalar, a $2-million open-top sports car that was named after a lake in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, features paint made using rice husk ash, and interior trim that includes wood accents taken from trees that fell way before Jesus was born. The Mulliner Bacalar is a showstopper in every sense of the word. It looks like one. It’s powered like one. Most importantly, it costs like one.

The Geneva International Motor Show was going to be the “launchpad” for many automakers to showcase new models, including Bentley. The British automaker was supposed to premiere an ultra-exclusive roofless car called the Bacalar in Geneva. But, with the event being canceled, automakers decided to hold digital press conferences, and Bentley will be unveiling this beauty the same way instead of holding a standalone event later on.
The Bentley Bacalar has been designed by the company’s coachbuilding division, Mulliner. The Bacalar was one of the most anticipated vehicles from the Geneva Motor Show because it is only the second two-seater to have come out from the company’s stable since 1930. We already know that the Bacalar is inspired by the EXP 100 GT that was revealed last year as part of Bentley’s centenary celebrations. The Crewe company did tease the Bacalar in a three-part trailer series, and the last one gives us the vibes that it may actually be a roofless model. Until now, we’ve only seen bits of interior and the set of hot wheels.
If we go by the EXP 100 GT, the cabin will be nothing short of a marvel. The company describes it as, “The two-seat layout and wraparound cockpit of the Bacalar creates a luggage space behind the exquisitely stitched front seats, occupied by a bespoke pair of travel cases trimmed to match the interior materials, all of which are sustainably sourced.” The hand-built model from the world’s oldest coachbuilder will most likely come plonked with the familiar 6.0-liter, W12 engine that will bear impressive performance figures in this lightweight, topless car.

The 2020 Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible is a special-edition version of the Continental GTC. As the name suggests, the drop-top has been customized by Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke division, so it basically takes over as the range-topping model of the Continental GTC.
Although it doesn’t look very different compared to the standard model and it’s available with the same engines, the Mulliner stands out thanks to a handful of exclusive features. The Bentley EXP 100 GT Concept Is About to Lose Its Top
If the recent rumors are true, Bentley is looking to capitalize on the stunningly-designed EXP 100 GT Concept by deriving it into a super-exclusive model of the barchetta-style ilk. The open-top sports tourer is in line to receive the carmaker’s W-12 powerplant that’s shared by the likes of Bentayga, Continental GT, and Flying Spur, but it has to qualify for approval first. Once it ticks that box, its development process will fall into the task of Bentley’s Mulliner division - so expect the open-top sports tourer to ooze luxury through every crevice.
You Finally Have a Chance to Own a 1929 Bentley Blower... Kind of
While we were waiting for new debuts at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley made a surprising announcement at the 2019 Salon Prive Concours d’Elegance in Crewe, England. The British firm launched a continuation series of the iconic Bentley Blower, a car it originally sold back in 1929. Yes, Bentley is doing exactly what Jaguar did with cars like the E-Type Lightweight, D-Type, and XK-SS, but with a much older car. The Blower will thus become the world’s first pre-war race car continuation series.
2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition
It’s been around eight months since the all-new Bentley Continental GT Convertible made its long-awaited debut. Enough time has passed for all of us to absorb what Bentley’s 626-horsepower, roofless, sporty grand tourer is all about. Enough time has also passed for Bentley to drop the first special edition model for the new Continental GT Convertible. And wouldn’t you know it, this special edition Continental GT Convertible is called…the Number 1 Edition. Lack of naming creativity notwithstanding, there is a reason why this special edition Continental GT Convertible is called the Number 1 Edition. As I mentioned, it’s the first SE variant of the all-new Continental GT Convertible. More than that, it pays tribute to a particular old-school Bentley race car: the legendary 1929 Bentley Number 1 Blower. Forget what I said, then, about this special edition’s nomenclature. Clearly, it means a lot more to Bentley than just a random number.
We Can’t Get Enough of the Rotating Display in the Bentley Continental GT Convertible
Bentley’s Continental GT is probably the ultimate luxury grand tourer that money can buy. Now, just as the British manufacturer is debuting the convertible version, we stop to take a look at the centerpiece, literally and metaphorically, of the Continental’s interior: its three-sided rotating panel on the center console.
It’s no question that Bentley outdid themselves with the new Continental. Yes, it’s still a massive lump of a car, and yes, you’ll never get everyone to agree that the smaller outboard headlights make sense but, now, the car feels more supple than ever while still oozing class and luxury.
2018 Bentley Continental GTC
The third-generation Bentley Continental GTC is the cabriolet version of the coupe that the British firm introduced in 2017. Almost identical to the coupe design-wise, it features a new soft-top system and borrows all of its technology and drivetrain components from the hard-top version.
Heavily inspired by the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, it looks sportier than before and boasts a longer wheelbase. The redesigned soft-top also turns it into a three-box vehicle when the roof is in place. The new Continental GTC arrives just in time for the upcoming Volante version of the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, but it also competes against the fancier Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet. Unveiled without much fuss or a big public event, the GTC shares styling cues and underpinnings with the already familiar coupe. However, it also features a new soft-top and a few extra features inside the cabin.

EV’s and hybrids are all well and good, but sometimes, there’s just no replacement for displacement. The owner of the Packard-Bentley “Mavis” would certainly agree. Break it down, and what you’re dealing with here is basically a Bentley 8 Litre chassis powered by a 42-liter Packard 4M-2500 V-12 engine. Yep, you read that right - 42 friggin’ liters, baby.
Because it was originally intended for use in a WWII-era American PT boat, the engine produces a whopping 1,500 horsepower and 2,000 pound-feet of torque, which, stuffed into a 1930 Bentley chassis is a bit, well, ridiculous. In the best way possible, obviously.
To make it fit, the car’s builder had to move the steering column to an offset angle, while a total of 24 exhaust tips were added to help it spit flames and smoke like some raging hell beast.
While the video doesn’t show the Mavis actually moving, it’s well worth a watch for the gross display of internal combustion (and external combustion, for that matter).
Bentley Launches Third-Generation Continental GT and It’s Gorgeous!
Bentley has already debuted its all-new Continental GT, but the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show is the first time this high-end Gran Touring machine has been seen in the metal. The 2018 Continental GT marks the third generation for the storied nameplate in modern times. It launched back in 2003 after the Volkswagen Group acquired Bentley in 1998. The second generation brought big improvements in 2013. Relatively minor changes along the way have kept the Conti from stagnating. None of those changes seem to reach the gravitas and refinement of the Conti’s latest iteration. Bentley definitely exceeded expectations.
The 2018 Continental’s exterior design takes cues from Bentley’s EXP 10 Speed 6 concept and the interior’s fixtures can be traced to the automaker’s new Bentayga SUV. But neither are cut-and-paste as the Continental carves its own twisty road through the land of luxury. Returning from the second generation is the Conti’s most formidable powerplant: the 6.0-liter W-12. It now produces a whopping 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque – an increase of 44 horses and 133 pound-feet. Why? Well, this isn’t the exact version found in the second-gen Conti, but rather, the updated 6.0-liter found in the Bentayga. An AWD system keeps power seamlessly flowing, while Bentley’s Electronic Active Roll Control continually adjusts the firmness of the anti-roll bars using 48-volt electronics. A new three-chamber air suspension further enhances the ride. Inside, the Continental boasts two massive screens and more leather and wood than a forest full of cows. 2018 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition by Mulliner
By now, you would think that Mulliner would have done just about every kind of luxury interpretation imaginable. That is at the heart of its job as Bentley’s in-house personalization division. Over the past few years, we’ve seen Mulliner turn Bentleys into works of pure art and opulence. You’d be surprised, though, how creative this group can get, and no more is that in full display than in its latest project, the Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition.
Yes, Mulliner just finished another limited edition build for Bentley. Yes, it looks amazing. Yes, it takes its name from the Greek goddess of calm seas. And yes, it’s nautically-inspired, right down to the whole treatment in the exterior and interior of the convertible. It says a lot about the Continental GT Convertible Galene’s status as a decadent limited edition that even Princess Yachts, the creators of some of the most expensive yachts in the world, got involved in the project with Mulliner. The styling cues in the exterior and interior are indicative of what Princess Yachts does with its own expensive products, and you can tell by how the whole model turns out that it’s a Bentley that’s ideally suited for a specific clientele. Only 30 units of the Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition will be built, too. That’s hardly a surprise considering the people behind its creation. Luxury begets luxury, and the Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition is a physical embodiment of that.
