Bentley Launches The 2019 Bentayga Speed At Geneva and It’s Faster Than The Urus
Bentley’s first SUV just became more powerful and faster although you won’t notice it that quickly when you look at the exterior of the new Bentayga Speed. Underneath the pretty bronze exterior, there’s a 626 horsepower 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged, W-12 behemoth that helps the not-so-pretty beast reach 190 mph and a bit. That bit is one 1 km/h more than the Urus and this allows Bentley to take home all the bragging rights for now.
We are well accustomed to automakers goosing it out over who makes the fastest supercar but we’re now seeing this trend awkwardly trickle down to big SUVs. Porsche’s Cayenne Turbo was, arguably, the first modern SUV that packed a decent punch but many have followed in its wake with Lamborghini dropping the first Super-SUV ever (as they call it) with the Urus. Let’s see if Lamborghini responds with a peppered-up Urus or not, considering both companies are under the VAG umbrella.
The 2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed Comes To Conquer The Title Of World’s Fastest SUV
It’s been more than three years since Bentley introduced the Bentayga, its first-ever SUV, and the highly anticipated Speed model is here to boost the nameplate’s performance pedigree even further. The first Bentley SUV to carry the badge taken from the Continental, the Bentayga Speed is the quickest, fastest, and more capable British hauler yet.
There’s a Bentley Bentayga Speed in the Works and It’s Going to be Lambortastic
Volkswagen has done this before as well, and it is doing it again. This time, the automaker is pitting two of its most esteemed marques against each other. Bentley is working on the Bentayga Speed, and it might be just as powerful as the Lamborghini Urus. Won’t this hurt Lamborghini’s sales? Maybe, but if you look at it from the bigger picture, it is the VW group at the end of the day that’s benefiting.
1963 Bentley S3 Saloon
The Bentley S3 Saloon, along with the Rolls-Royce Phantom V, represented the standard of luxury in Europe. The S3 marked the end of an era as it was the last production luxury sedan from Bentley with body-on-frame construction.
The Bentley S3 was the last model of British manufacturer’s S Series which was in production for a decade. The S3 replaced the S2 in 1962 and, in turn, was replaced by 1965 with the T-Series Bentley that was also a close relative to the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The S Series came as a replacement for the antiquated R Type which had been in production since shortly after the war but was largely based on pre-war designs.
The S3 is, thus, the last of the truly classic Bentleys, so it’s only fitting that the car is one of the most elegant ever to come out with the Flying B on the hood. Performance is not that relevant on such a car but what matters, the comfort of the ride, is there aplenty. You won’t feel a bump in the road aboard the S3 even if you want to.
2019 Bentley Continental GT Speed
The Bentley Continental GT Speed is a higher performance version of the British grand tourer. Sportier looking and more powerful, it slots between the standard model and the range-topping Supersports. The new-generation GT Speed, based on the latest Conti GT, is scheduled to arrive in 2019 for the 2020 model year.
Launched in 2017, the third-generation Bentley Continental GT is already in dealerships, but the British luxury company has yet to offer all the usual variations, like a base V-8 model and higher-performance models of the W-12-powered coupe. But it seems the wait is nearly over, as the GT Speed was spotted testing on public roads recently. Just like its predecessor, the GT Speed will arrive with slightly sportier looks, a few extras inside the cabin, and a more powerful version of the company’s 6.0-liter W-12 engine.
Don’t Hold Out for a Two-Seater Sports Coupe from Bentley - It’s Not Going to Happen
Bentley’s new boss, Adrian Hallmark, has big plans for the brand, but a two-seater sports car isn’t one of them. Hallmark made that clear in a conversation with Autocar, saying that the sports car segment is volatile enough as it is and that Bentley isn’t interested in the unpredictability that it comes with. If that’s the tune Bentley’s new CEO is singing, then we might as well say goodbye to our dreams of one day seeing a production version of the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept.

Bentley has been on fire lately with the Bentayga, and it looks like the Bentayga is starting to show who the real monster is!
Bentley’s Drinking the SUV Kool-Aid as Plans For a Coupe-SUV Gains Ground
The success of the Bentayga SUV has empowered Bentley to add a new member to its SUV lineup. The new model is tentatively called “Bentayga Sport,” and rumors have surfaced that it’s going to take the form of a coupe-SUV to complement the more traditional SUV-looking Bentyaga. If the British automaker’s plans go as scheduled, the Bentayga Sport could be break cover as early as 2019.

Every premium automaker has a luxury SUV in its line-up today. There’s the Rolls Royce Cullinan, the Lamborghini Urus, the Porsche Cayenne, and the Bentley Bentayga, to name a few. This segment is in great demand, and every manufacturer is tirelessly trying to outdo each other by introducing various engine options and what not. This time, Bentley is developing a faster Bentayga, called the Bentayga Speed. This SUV will not just be faster on the road; it’s also set to feature some big design changes.
Comparison: 2018 Bentley Bentayga vs 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan
Premium SUVs have been around for quite some time now. Many claim that the first luxury hauler arrived in 1984 as the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, but the modern era began in 1999 when BMW introduced the X5. In 2016, Bentley reshaped the segment with the Bentayga, the first full-blown luxury SUV that gathered fine upholstery, state-of-the-art tech, fancy features, and high-performance under one roof. At the time of its launch, it was the quickest, fastest, and the most expensive SUV. Two years have passed and Rolls-Royce delivered its first people hauler, just like it promised a few years back. It’s called the Cullinan, and although it’s not faster than the Bentayga, it’s definitely the more expensive choice.
While the premium segment is packed with SUVs from European, American, and Japanese automakers, the range-topping luxury market is still very small. With no other products around, Bentley and Rolls-Royce are the only firms fighting for supremacy here. The Cullinan and the Bentayga will go against each other for the richest, most pretentious customers out there for years to come. Who will win? Word has it that Bentley has given a four-door EV the green light for development and production, and it will serve as the brand’s flagship model once it finally arrives. The caveat to this statement is that the brand aims for it to be undeniably a Bentley at first glance and it must be a standalone model that isn’t based on any other model or concept produced by the brand thus far. That means it won’t be based on the EXP 12 Speed 6E Concept or the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Coupe. Of course, Bentley is a member of the dirty VAG, so you can bet that it will ride on the J1 platform, the same guts that will power models like the Porsche Mission E and the Audi E-Tron GT that we informed you up just a couple of weeks ago.

Is There Room in the World for a Bentley Bentayga Pickup?
The days of automakers touting their purist roots are now over. The was a time when companies like Bentley and Lamborghini laughed at the thought of launching their own SUVs. Now, the Bentayga and Urus are out on the market. The shift in ideologies has given rise to models that we never thought would exist. Using that newfound rationale, what do you think is the likelihood that Bentley greenlights its own pickup?
2018 Bentley Continental GT First Edition
In keeping with its new tradition of rolling out First Edition models — the Bentayga SUV and the Mulsanne each got one — Bentley is rolling out the red carpet for the Continental GT First Edition. Described as the “ultimate expression of the legendary grand tourer,” the Continental GT First Edition gets plenty of exclusive appointments that help earn its status as a true first-off-the-line model.
Since this is Bentley we’re talking about, the phrase “exclusive appointments” take on a far more exclusive and opulent meaning. The features included in the Continental GT First Edition include fancy rotating displays, veneer options, and model-specific cosmetic identifiers that firmly establishes its special edition status. Basically, the Continental GT First Edition is a more exclusive version of an already exclusive luxury coupe.
Bentley didn’t say how many Continental GT First Edition units it plans to roll out, but given its status as a First Edition model, don’t expect it to be available in large quantities. The Bentayga First Edition, for example, was limited to just 608 examples, while the Mulsanne First Edition was even rarer with only 50 units made across its entire three-model range. My best guess is that the Continental GT First Edition will have a volume of around 100 units with each unit priced at around $300,000.

2018 Bentley Continental GT3
Bentley has just introduced the third-generation Continental GT, which rides on a new platform (shared with the Porsche Panamera), uses a new W-12 engine, and employs design cues from the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept car. Just like its predecessor, the new Conti GT is set to gain a range of versions, including a V-8-powered and higher performance Speed and Supersports variants. But while these are still under development, the new Continental GT has already made its public debut in motorsport clothes. Meet the second-generation Continental GT3, developed to replace the first-gen race car after four successful years on the race track.
Slated to hit the motorsport scene for the 2018 season, the new Continental GT3 uses the aluminum structure of the road car and most of its design cues. But much like its predecessor, its lighter, tipping the scales at "significantly less" than 2,866 pounds, and features a more aerodynamic body. The new Conti GT3 has big shoes to fill — the first-gen car scored 120 podiums and 45 wins across 528 races — and will attempt to do so starting with the opening round of the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Monza in April. Breitling’s New Timepiece Is A Fitting Ode To The New Continental GT
For regular folks like us, the world of high-end luxury is nothing more than a fantasy. But for those who have the resources to get access to the clouds, there are items like luxury cars and limited edition timepieces to welcome them with open arms. In the case of Breitling and Bentley, it’s a combination of the two things, as the Swiss watchmaker recently showed with the introduction of the ultra limited Bentley GT Dark Sapphire Edition watch.
By itself, the “Dark Sapphire” name already screams luxury, and I haven’t even gotten into the actual timepiece. Breitling says that the watch takes inspiration from the new Continental GT, one of the few cars in the world that can legitimately lay claim to being one of the most luxurious ones, too. Name, inspiration, and design cues notwithstanding, the Bentley GT Dark Sapphire Edition is also limited to just 500 units so there’s no guarantee that everyone in the world who expresses interest in buying the watch will get their hands on one. Put all of these elements together and you can understand why this kind of watch is really reserved for the upper echelon of today’s society, exactly like the luxury sedan from which it’s inspired from. Maybe someday I’ll have enough disposable income to be able to afford a watch like this. Until then, I’ll reserve my seat with the rest of you and admire it from a distance.

2018 Bentley Continental GT
The Bentley Continental GT has been a huge hit for Bentley and Volkswagen AG since its launch in 2003, but the problem is that the car really hasn’t changed that much over the years. Sure, the facelift brought tweaked styling, a new V-8, and reworked interior, but it still takes a keen eye to spot the differences between the first Conti and those built after 2011. It’s likely that a $200,000 grand touring Bentley coupe/convertible wasn’t a huge priority for VW coming out of a global recession, but now with high-end luxury cars back in full swing, Bentley finally unleashed the third-generation Continental GT.
Revealed ahead of the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Conti GT confirms what we already knew from spy shots and the Bentayga SUV. The exterior styling is heavily based on the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, while the interior borrows some of the features and materials seen in the SUV. Bentley also took the new 6.0-liter W-12 that it launched with the Bentayga and dropped it under the Continental’s hood with revised internals and other drivetrain components. All told, the new Continental GT is sportier, quicker, more powerful, and more luxurious than the outgoing model. But more about that in the review below.

Bentley Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner
In its long and storied history, falconry has evolved from being an integral hunting method to an actual sport among the affluent. The practice itself dates back thousands of years and it’s still very much alive today. In a lot of ways, the sport of falconry and British luxury automaker Bentley fall into the same social and economic spheres populated by the elite. So, it wasn’t a shock when Bentley’s Mulliner personalization division turned to falconry for its next creation. This here then is the Bentley Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner.
The one-off creation pays tribute to a sport that’s defined for its exclusivity and the perceptions attached to it. Falconry isn’t a sport for everyone, and just the same, the Bentayga Falconry isn’t for everyone either. I imagine those who don’t engage in the sport or the hunt will have very little use for the master flight station sitting in the trunk of the luxury SUV or the actual perches that come as part of the whole Mulliner falconry experience. If they do find use for these things, they’re a lot more creative than I imagined them to be. But for those who do participate in falconry, Mulliner’s creation serves as the perfect companion for an expedition. It also helps that Bentley used the Bentayga SUV for this project, because as awesome as the Mulsanne and Continental models are, I don’t expect them to be completely in their element in the heart of the desert where the sport is usually “played.”
