2020 Bentley Mulsanne 6.75 Edition

The British automaker is saying goodbye to its flagship model the only way it knows how

Bentley is bidding adieu to the Mulsanne luxury sedan in the most fitting way possible. The British automaker is launching a special edition Mulsanne called the 6.75 Edition. Only 30 units of the Mulsanne 6.75 Edition and, in keeping with Bentley’s tradition of dressing up its special edition models to the nines, the limited-run Mulsanne comes with enough exclusive touches in the exterior and interior to justify its special edition billing.

Bentley hasn’t announced a release timetable for the Mulsanne 6.75, but with the Mulsanne’s production run ending this year, expect the 6.75 Edition to arrive within the year.

The first model of the special edition Flying Spur will be auctioned off for charity

The arrival of the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur is going to make a lot of bank accounts bleed, but just before the luxury sedan hits the market in full swing, Bentley’s rolling out the Flying Spur First Edition, a special edition model based on, well, the 2020 Flying Spur. The first example of the Flying Spur First Edition will not go on sale. Instead, it will be auctioned off at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s inaugural ball, called the “Midsummer Party,” on July 24 at Jean Pogizzi’s Villa Dorane in Cap d’Antibes, a resort town between Cannes and Nice on the French Riviera. All proceeds from the auction will go to the EJAF. As for the rest of the Flying Spur First Editions, Bentley will only sell it in the first-year production of the Flying Spur. Best be quick if you want to get your hands on one.

2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition

The first special edition for the new Continental GT Convertible is a smasher!

It’s been around eight months since the all-new Bentley Continental GT Convertible made its long-awaited debut. Enough time has passed for all of us to absorb what Bentley’s 626-horsepower, roofless, sporty grand tourer is all about. Enough time has also passed for Bentley to drop the first special edition model for the new Continental GT Convertible. And wouldn’t you know it, this special edition Continental GT Convertible is called…the Number 1 Edition. Lack of naming creativity notwithstanding, there is a reason why this special edition Continental GT Convertible is called the Number 1 Edition. As I mentioned, it’s the first SE variant of the all-new Continental GT Convertible. More than that, it pays tribute to a particular old-school Bentley race car: the legendary 1929 Bentley Number 1 Blower. Forget what I said, then, about this special edition’s nomenclature. Clearly, it means a lot more to Bentley than just a random number.

2019 Bentley Bentayga V8 Design Series

2019 Bentley Bentayga V8 Design Series

It combines exclusive Mulliner features with extra standard equipment

The Bentley Bentayga V8 Design Series is a special-edition version of the luxury SUV. As an appearance package, Design Series combined new features designed by the Mulliner division with a range of existing options. Bentley says it’s "a contemporary styled and visually dynamic version of the world’s most luxurious SUV," although the Design Series isn’t a major departure from the standard Bentayga.

Although the British SUV is available with two gasoline engine, a diesel, and a hybrid, the Design Series is restricted to just one drivetrain. As the name suggests, it only comes with the 4.0-liter V-8, which is the entry-level model in terms of pricing. There’s no word as to how many will be built, but it probably won’t be around for too long.

Bentley and Mulliner pay tribute to 100 years of British automotive excellence

Bentley is celebrating its 100th anniversary at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, and it’s doing it in style with a special edition model called the Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner. Limited to just 100 units — one for each year of Bentley’s existence — the Continental GT Number 9 Edition is a fitting ode to the automaker’s centenary. More than that, the special edition Continental GT also pays tribute to arguably one of the most famous race cars in history, the legendary — and supercharged — Bentley Blower that Sir Henry Ralph Stanley “Tim” Birkin drove at the 1930 Le Mans 24 Hours. No timetable has been set on when the special edition Continental GT Number 9 Edition goes on sale. Rest assured, though, all 100 units should fly off the shelves faster than it takes the Continental to go from 0 to 60 mph.

British automaker is celebrating its 100-year anniversary a year early

Bentley is turning 100 years old in 2019, and a year ahead of its centenary, the British automaker is getting the party started with the release of a new special edition Mulsanne that pays tribute to its founder, W.O. Bentley. Limited to just 100 units, the Mulsanne W.O. Edition gets plenty of exclusive features, all of which have been added by Bentley’s resident personalization savant, Mulliner.

When the best in luxury gets a first-off-the-line variant

In keeping with its new tradition of rolling out First Edition models — the Bentayga SUV and the Mulsanne each got one — Bentley is rolling out the red carpet for the Continental GT First Edition. Described as the “ultimate expression of the legendary grand tourer,” the Continental GT First Edition gets plenty of exclusive appointments that help earn its status as a true first-off-the-line model.

Since this is Bentley we’re talking about, the phrase “exclusive appointments” take on a far more exclusive and opulent meaning. The features included in the Continental GT First Edition include fancy rotating displays, veneer options, and model-specific cosmetic identifiers that firmly establishes its special edition status. Basically, the Continental GT First Edition is a more exclusive version of an already exclusive luxury coupe.

Bentley didn’t say how many Continental GT First Edition units it plans to roll out, but given its status as a First Edition model, don’t expect it to be available in large quantities. The Bentayga First Edition, for example, was limited to just 608 examples, while the Mulsanne First Edition was even rarer with only 50 units made across its entire three-model range. My best guess is that the Continental GT First Edition will have a volume of around 100 units with each unit priced at around $300,000.

Mulliner’s up to its tricks again

At this point, it’s reasonable to expect that whenever Mulliner and Bentley get together, something special is usually in the works. We’ve seen it time and time again, and now we can look forward to seeing two more Bentleys getting the full-scale Mulliner treatment. One of these models is the Bentley Mulsanne, and it’s headed to the Frankfurt Motor Show as the Mulsanne Design Series by Mulliner.

I know what some of you are thinking; another Mulsanne project by Mulliner? Does this ever end? Well, it’s unlikely that it will, but there’s no reason why it should end given the string of incredible projects undertaken by Bentley’s own personalization division. The Frankfurt-bound Mulsanne Design Series by Mulliner follows on the same path with its own set of upgrades and individualized design touches, though it is worth pointing out that as far as this particular example is concerned, there is something that’s, well, lacking. Maybe it’s the fact that we’ve all gotten used to Mulliner’s penchant for stringing along one exceptional program after another, but at some point, there will be a bump in the road, or to be more specific, something that doesn’t quite measure up to the obscenely high standards that Mulliner has created for itself. This is, in a lot of ways, one of the problems with Mulliner. Expectations always call for something exceptional, and yet, what happens when a program falls a tad short of that? Well, see for yourselves.

2018 Bentley Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition

2018 Bentley Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition

A special edition Bentley that doesn’t quite meet our standards for Bentley SEs

Fresh off of announcing the Mulliner’s new Design Series for the Flying Spur, Bentley is back at it again with another special edition version of the luxury sedan. It’s called the Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition and it’s essentially a dressed-up version of the sedan that features plenty of dark tints lights and black gloss brightware, among other things.

It’s become a little bit of a tradition for Bentley to offer these special edition models in quick succession, so it’s not a surprise that we’re seeing another so soon after the British automaker released a previous special edition Flying Spur with Mulliner heavily involved in it. No one’s going to confuse these new Black Edition Flying Spurs for Mulliner’s Design Series, and I suppose that’s a good thing. With so many SEs coming out of Crewe these days, being different is a good thing, even if it means getting fewer digs than others. That’s essentially what the Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition is. There’s not much to go by compared to what Bentley has come up with in past months, but there are still enough new features to at least justify it getting the SE label. It’s still a Flying Spur, too, so even if it’s lacking in distinctive upgrades relative to our expectations, there’s still more than enough opulence to go around for everybody.

Yet another custom Bentley masterpiece from Mulliner

By now, you would think that Mulliner would have done just about every kind of luxury interpretation imaginable. That is at the heart of its job as Bentley’s in-house personalization division. Over the past few years, we’ve seen Mulliner turn Bentleys into works of pure art and opulence. You’d be surprised, though, how creative this group can get, and no more is that in full display than in its latest project, the Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition.

Yes, Mulliner just finished another limited edition build for Bentley. Yes, it looks amazing. Yes, it takes its name from the Greek goddess of calm seas. And yes, it’s nautically-inspired, right down to the whole treatment in the exterior and interior of the convertible. It says a lot about the Continental GT Convertible Galene’s status as a decadent limited edition that even Princess Yachts, the creators of some of the most expensive yachts in the world, got involved in the project with Mulliner. The styling cues in the exterior and interior are indicative of what Princess Yachts does with its own expensive products, and you can tell by how the whole model turns out that it’s a Bentley that’s ideally suited for a specific clientele. Only 30 units of the Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition will be built, too. That’s hardly a surprise considering the people behind its creation. Luxury begets luxury, and the Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition is a physical embodiment of that.

British automaker is giving its luxury sedan the proper send-off ahead of the next-gen model’s arrival

Ah, Bentley. The purveyor of all things automotive luxury is at it again. As if coming out with a treasure trove of special-edition and one-off spectacles isn’t enough, the British luxury brand is sprucing up the Flying Spur with a new Design Series line meant to give the luxury sedan the proper limited-edition send-off ahead of the next-generation model’s arrival. Needless to say, anything Bentley does with the words “special edition” on it comes with the involvement of Mulliner, the automaker’s very own personalization department that also happens to be responsible for some of the most incredible Bentleys we’ve seen in a while.

The new Flying Spur Design Series certainly fits in with its exclusive-packed peers, thanks in large part to an extensive list of cosmetic add-ons that injects some life back to the current-generation Flying Spur before the car makes its proper send-off. And since Mulliner is in charge of putting the Flying Spur Design Series together, it goes without saying that customers should prepare for something out of the ordinary. Exclusive colors? Yes. New wheels? Right on that too. How about a carbon-fiber and titanium cabin? On that last bit, let’s just say that we’ll leave it to Bentley and Mulliner to make that happen.

Bentley Continental 24 Special Edition

Limited edition Continental Supersports celebrates its involvement in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring

Rolls-Royce may have grabbed the headlines in recent weeks with all the special edition models it’s been unveiling, but rival Bentley is proving itself to be up-to-the-task with the release of its own special edition model. It’s called the Bentley Continental 24 and it’s a tribute to Bentley Motorsport’s entry to the Nürburgring 24 Hours where it hopes to build off of the success it’s had in the last two years since returning to one of the world’s most grueling endurance races.

The special edition Continental is based on the range-topping Supersports variants. While it doesn’t have any engine enhancements to speak of, its status as the fastest model Bentley has ever created more than speaks for itself. So, in the absence of upgrades to its massive 6.0-liter twin-turbo W-12 engine, the defining features of the Continental 24 rests on its exterior and interior where plenty of inspiration was taken from Bentley’s motorsport themes. The car also holds the distinction of being one of the few limited edition models that have its own options to choose from, thus making it even more limited. Bentley also said it plans to cap production of the limited edition Continental 24 coupe to an obvious number of 24 units, with each model fetching a base price of €250,000 or about $280,000 based on current exchange rates.

Bentley Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner

Bentley Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner

For those who prefer to satisfy the competitive itch of falconry in style and luxury

In its long and storied history, falconry has evolved from being an integral hunting method to an actual sport among the affluent. The practice itself dates back thousands of years and it’s still very much alive today. In a lot of ways, the sport of falconry and British luxury automaker Bentley fall into the same social and economic spheres populated by the elite. So, it wasn’t a shock when Bentley’s Mulliner personalization division turned to falconry for its next creation. This here then is the Bentley Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner.

The one-off creation pays tribute to a sport that’s defined for its exclusivity and the perceptions attached to it. Falconry isn’t a sport for everyone, and just the same, the Bentayga Falconry isn’t for everyone either. I imagine those who don’t engage in the sport or the hunt will have very little use for the master flight station sitting in the trunk of the luxury SUV or the actual perches that come as part of the whole Mulliner falconry experience. If they do find use for these things, they’re a lot more creative than I imagined them to be. But for those who do participate in falconry, Mulliner’s creation serves as the perfect companion for an expedition. It also helps that Bentley used the Bentayga SUV for this project, because as awesome as the Mulsanne and Continental models are, I don’t expect them to be completely in their element in the heart of the desert where the sport is usually “played.”

Another Black Edition Bentley that’s going to make our bank accounts weep

If you’ve ever come across any of Bentley’s Black Edition models, you know that the British luxury car brand spares no expense in dressing them up, right down to seemingly inconsequential details like a 12 o’clock red stripe on the steering wheel. Prepare yourselves then for more Black Edition goodness from Bentley because the automaker has just introduced the latest iteration of that series, only this time, it’s for the Continental GT V8 S.

The vehicle is predictably called the Continental GT V8 S Black Edition and like model from which it’s based on, it’s available in both coupe and convertible body styles. The objective of the Black Edition has always been grounded on creating a sportier look for the Continental GT V8 S. It’s a little more appropriate with this particular model since the GT V8 S is touted as a version of the Continental that’s been tuned for power and performance.

So the Continental GT V8 S Black Edition is essentially a marriage of upgrades meant to give the model a comprehensive lineup of enhancements. If the formula sounds familiar, it’s because Bentley has been doing it for quite some time now and the results, more often than not, have been overwhelmingly positive.

Does the special edition Continental GT V8 S follow in the path created by its Black Edition predecessors? That’s what we’re about to find out, although based on first impressions, I’m confident that this new model won’t have any problems making a name for itself.

Care for some English Elm on your luxury sedan?

Bentley’s Mulliner personalization division is capable of some luscious creations. Just last week, it presented the Bamford X Bentley Mulliner Mulsanne Speed. That one featured a black-on-black color scheme that was created through a process called Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD). It’s a complicated process that flies over my head; all I know is that Mulliner is capable of such a thing. I mention all of this because Mulliner’s back with a new creation, only this time, it’s for the Bentley Flying Spur.

At this point, refinements like a Peacock Blue paint finish and British Elm in the interior are what you can expect from Mulliner. They’re quintessentially British by nature, and so is the Flying Spur, which makes this particular personalization program a treat to the senses for those who prefer going over-the-top with their luxury amenities.

I don’t think it necessary to remind everyone of the kind of class and status surrounding the Bentley Flying Spur. It’s a sedan that’s made to ooze those qualities on its own. Then again, it doesn’t hurt that a personalization program like Mulliner is a skip and a knock away from rolling up its sleeves and working on the well-crafted additions that a particular customer may want from there Flying Spurs.

The results certainly speak for themselves, and in this particular instance, the final product is a testament to the quality of the Bentley Flying Spur and the all-around ingenuity of Bentley’s go-to personalization program.

2017 Bamford X Bentley Mulliner Mulsanne Speed

One-off Bentley Mulsanne Speed designed for exclusivity

It’s safe to say that Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house bespoke personalization division, has established a reputation for being a purveyor of some of the most unique Bentleys we’ve seen in a long time. That’s what happens when you’re responsible for building one-off to limited edition models for the British auto brand. You’re afforded the freedom to be creative with your work and as far as recent examples are concerned – the Mulsanne Sinjari Edition being one of them – that’s exactly what Mulliner has done. Now, it’s at it again with another creation: a one-off Mulsanne Speed built specifically for George Bamford, the man behind Bamford Watch Department, regarded by many as the U.K.’s premier bespoke timepiece personalization company.

The one-off Mulsanne is formally called the Bamford X Bentley Mulliner and if you’re sensitive to cars that have been turned upside their heads, you might want to look away for this one. But if you can take the proverbial heat, then feast your eyes on this enthralling work by Mulliner.

Like most of the bespoke division’s past works, the Bamford X Bentley Mulliner is more than just an expression of extreme personalization. There’s a story behind the work that Mulliner put into this Mulsanne to make it a true and legitimate one-off piece. Specific materials and methods were used to represent the identity of the BWD brand, and like a true craftsman whose name and reputation are worth the land he’s standing on, Mulliner went over and above it’s own capabilities to create a bespoke Mulsanne that’s unlikely to be replicated anytime soon.

“This is personalization. This is how you do personalization.” This is what George Bamford himself said when he saw the Bamford X Bentley Mulliner.

Wiser words have never been spoken.

Limited edition Mulsanne gets plenty of black and gold love

Bentley’s Mulliner customization division has been responsible for some pretty distinct works, none more recent than the GQ Korea Flying Spur that was designed by Korean designer Sang Yup Lee. The Korea-exclusive Flying Spur was extremely well-dressed, right down to the Magnetic of Onyx duo-tone paint finish and the garish interior modifications. Turns out, the GQ Korea Flying Spur isn’t the only Bentley that Mulliner has been working on. This one is the Mulsanne Sinjari Edition, a limited edition pièce de résistance earmarked specifically for the Middle Eastern market.

Inspired by the magnificent Sinjari falcon, the Mulsanne Sinjari is defined by significant changes to its exterior and interior, all of which were done by Mulliner’s fine craftsmen to exude the grace and majesty of its avian namesake. Considering that the Sinjari falcon is known for its black and gold feathers, Bentley’s personalization division saw fit to keep the inspiration as pure as can be, giving way to an instantly recognizable Mulsanne that’s unlike anything we’ve seen in some time.

It’s unclear how many units of the Mulsanne Sinjari Edition are in existence today, but a quick peek at Bentley’s Qatar-facing website shows that the model can be ordered in that country.
