Easter Special: Easter Eggs of the Car World
In a world that has more supercars and sports cars than you can keep track of, it’s pretty easy for those that don’t go mainstream to get lost. It’s sad when you think about it. Over the years, there have been some interesting concept and production cars that never got the attention they deserved. Take the Tushek Renovatio T500, for instance. Have you ever heard of it? I’m guessing you probably haven’t, but it was a remarkably beautiful car with distinct styling that should have made it a favorite among collectors.
These days, we’re blessed with every supercar manufacturer dropping a new model on a regular basis. In fact, we’re spoiled, when you think about it. And like any group of spoiled children, as soon as we get what we want, we immediately start asking for more. It’s not that the supercars we all know and love, like the Koenigsegg One:1, Bugatti Chiron, or the Pagani Huayra BC aren’t special, because they certainly are. They’re just well known, and even if you haven’t seen one in person, you’ve seen one on TV or Youtube.
So, in light of Easter this year, we’ve decided to look back at a few cars that are very much “Easter eggs” of the automotive world, and that’s if you can even find them at all. I’m talking about cars like the aforementioned Tushek Renovatio T500, or the Tramontana XTR. Some of these car’s never made it into production, while others were produced and fizzled away into automotive history. Either way, let’s take a look at a few of my favorites.

After months of what seemed like endless teasing, Bulgarian tuning firm, Vilner, has finally released its beyond-insane program for the 2013 Bentley Continental GT.
We all know Vilner as crafters of some of the best interior programs in the business, but it really outdid itself this time. This extensive project also included some insane work on the exterior and, best of all, a performance program that really gave the Continental GT some serious horses under its hood.
It was a project that took eight months to build, but it sure was worth the wait; wasn’t it?
To the person who owns this Continental GT, we have no problem believing that you are a very happy person.
We would be, too, if Vilner did this to our Bentley. That is, if we happened to have a Bentley in our driveway...

Our carwash dreams come to life with two babes cleaning a Ferrari 430 Scuderia and a Bentley Continental GT
Ever drove into one of those car washes and a portly, middle-aged man proceeded to give your car the soap and water treatment? Doesn’t do much in the way of your imagination, does it?
Well, what if we told you that you can replace Larry the Cable Guy with two gorgeous models identified as Veronica Popa and Bryana Holly?
See, now we have your undivided attention. Featuring a Ferrari 430 Scuderia and a Bentley Continental GT, together with Popa and Holly, the photo spread shows the two beautiful babes cleaning, posing, and downright flirting with the two exotics.
All in their microscopic bikinis, no less.
One could argue that Wolfgang Durheimer has the best job in the world as he runs two of the most prestigious and recognizable car companies in the world; Bentley and Bugatti. As we’re sure you know, both of these companies fall under the Volkswagen brand, but if Automotive News Europe is to be believed, changes are afoot within the mega-company.
Prior to being in charge of Bugatti and Bentley, Durheimer was Porsche’s development chief, and ANE believes that in a re-shuffle of Audi’s management board to reduce the age of its seven-board members, Durheimer will leave his current positions and take up the role as Audi’s development chief. He is said to be superseding Michael Dick, aged 60, in the role.
A selection of other positions throughout the Audi brand are expected to be replaced also, such as the brand’s sales chief and purchasing managers to again reduce the average age of the firm’s management board.
We’re not sure as to why Audi and Volkswagen are so keen to have young board members, as employees should be solely chosen on their abilities rather than their ages, but it’s likely Audi believes some of its current board members are losing their grasp on the ever-changing automotive industry, and perhaps believes bringing some youth to the team will help.
In saying that however, the new members aren’t exactly youthful as Durheimer is 53 and will be replacing a man just 7 years his senior, while Luca de Meo is 44 and expected to replace Audi’s sales chief, 60-year-old Peter Schwartzenbauer. As a result of this switch-up, the position as CEO of Bentley and Bugatti will be up for grabs but it’s unclear who’ll be promoted to that position in the near future.
Our favorite Youtube user, Marchettino, has managed to delight us one more time by attending the 2012 edition of the Top Marques Monaco to film all of the amazing vehicles in attendance. We have to admit the list of supercars is quite impressive.
For those who don’t know, the Top Marques is an important supercar show that brings together some of the most expensive and exclusive supercars, hypercars, and tuning projects every year. It’s kind of like Christmas for us auto journalists, but without the big, jolly guy giving one of these supercars to us as a present. This kind of Christmas comes with huge prices and tremendous power backing it up.
Our favorite from the entire list of vehicles in attendance this year is the Koenigsegg Agera R, but the list is much, much longer.

Bentley’s footballer vehicle, the Continental GT, might be getting a few upgrades from its new sister company. The company might equip the new V8 with Audi’s dual-clutch S Tronic transmission. Testing is currently underway to see how well the transmission works in the V8 GT.
The biggest challenger facing engineers is the underbody of the vehicle. The six-speed ZF gearbox is a different shape than the S Tronic, meaning the underbody of the GT will need to be reworked. Still, the benefits of having such a transmission are numerous, such as a better driving experience that could help Bentley market the GT to a more sporting audience.
“The V8 will find a new audience for us. There are sports car enthusiasts out there, particularly in the US, who won’t buy a sports car unless it’s powered by a V8,” says Bentley’s new sales and marketing boss Alasdair Stewart to Autocar.
The price of the V8 is likely to be set below the W12 and it will go on sale in early 2012.
The all-new 2011 Bentley Continental GT was just recently shown online. We got to see some pretty pictures and all that, but nothing shows us a car’s true looks and sound than a good video, and that’s just what we have.
There isn’t a whole lot of action in the video, but we do get to see the car up close and personal. The car will be making its first official debut at the Paris Motor Show, which we will be covering. Under the hood will be a W12 with 567 horsepower. Floor the fast pedal and you will be able to hit 198 miles per hour, but if you go down a hill you might hit the magic 200.
Some of the features include climate-controlled seats and a touchscreen for all the car’s toys and gizmos. Chances are the new GT will be pretty sensational, but we will have to wait and see.

The world of super luxury sedans might be a thing of the past for Bentley. The company decided to focus on performance vehicles, as well as run on an 18-month production cycle.
Bentley researchers found that owners of two-door Continentals tend to keep their cars around 12 to 18 months. After that, their desire for a new, high priced car has them shopping around, hence the new production cycle. Furthermore, the report also says that when Bentley made a coupe and a convertible of the same model, some customers bought both.
This new cycle and customer habits are part of the reason for the new 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible, a variant on the Supersports, which is the fast version of the GT. The drop-top Supersports will cost around $280,000 and will come only a year after we got the base $267,000 Supersports.
All of these performance cars might be a sign of things to come for the company, as they look to get back to their fast car roots.
Bentley will look to separate themselves from Rolls-Royce, as the two have long been linked together. It’s been nearly a decade since Rolls went off to join BMW and Bentley was swooped up Volkswagen.
Bentley global director of planning, Richard Leopold believes that the change to more speed-focused models will help the company move away from luxury vehicles and closer to Maserati and Lamborghini. He says that buyers of those Italian brands might be willing to consider moving to sportier Bentleys.
Whatever Bentley decides to do, they need to hurry up. The old Continental is seven years old and sales are down due to the economic crisis. We hope to have more news soon.
This is incredible video shows off a super car lineup that any automotive enthusiast would feel privilege to witness first hand, leading up to one of the most expensive sidewalk displays of all time. The list includes an Aston Martin, Ferrari 612, Ferrari 430, a trio of Mercedes SLR super cars, a Pagani Zonda, a Ferrari 360 and a gold Bentley Continental GT.
In another installment of racing legend Derek Bell keeping Bentley enthusiasts around the world informed about the new lightweight Continental Supersport with a lap around the Nürburgring race track in Germany. The English coach builder has announced that the first deliveries of the new Continental Supersports will begin later on this month. Mr. Bell is famous for his in car commentary, even while moving along at 200 MPH. The crew from Crewe claim that the new 204 MPH luxury sports coupe is the most extreme Bentley road car ever produced by W.O.’s car company.
Aside from being able to cruise around at over 200 MPH in style and comfort, but the Supersports is also capable of running on E85 biofuel and represents a step forward and most of all Bentley’s commitment to alternative fuels and they ensure that their entire lineup will be capable of burning up to 85% ethanol by the year 2012. The new Continental Supersports is slated to be on sale in most markets around the world by the year’s end. A few of the first batch of Bentley super cars have already been spotted, but we won’t be seeing too many of them here in the U.S. filling up at an E85 pump until the middle of 2010, just in time for the good old summer hike in gas prices.

Time and time again the old adage that “you can’t buy taste” is all too evident in the world of high end customizing, and while the Beatles used to sing “Can’t buy me love” it appears that English Premier League soccer star Stephen Ireland is trying to dispel that with his girlfriend Jessica Lawlor’s 24th birthday present, an extensively modified Bentley Continental GTC. He got the idea after Jessica jokingly suggested that he get her something in the style of Pimp-My-Ride to match Stephen’s blue accented Audi R8. The 23 year old midfielder kept the entire ordeal a secret from almost everyone, especially Jessica who was simply stunned when she received her gift.
The modified 200 MPH drop top is full of special details that make this Bentley truly unique. Stephen had the flying B on the hood of the car replaced with a J and even the two tone deep dished rims have Jessica’s initials panted on them. On the inside Stephen went the extra step and had an oversized heart stitched into the red headrest with the message “To Jess Love From Stephen” monogrammed inside. Despite the extreme lack of a taste and absence of style, Jessica is absolutely delighted with her birthday gift, after all what 24 year old female wouldn’t.
Although the Bentley Continental GTC underwent £264,000 worth of modifications, the mighty 6.0 Liter W12 was left alone and still produces a maximum output of 552 HP and is capable of accelerating the all wheel drive grand touring car from 0 to 60 MPH in just 4.8 seconds and keep on going all the way up to a top speed of 198 MPH.
The British coach builder Bentley has stirred up quite a bit of excitement with their latest object of desire, the Bentley Mulsanne. After debuting at the world’s greatest car show in Pebble Beach, and more recently at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Bentley has made a few more images of the luxury limousine in action. Not only is the automaker showing off the Bentley Mulsanne a thing of grace and beauty on the road, but also as a work of creative art and engineering excellence.
As you can see from the videos after the jump, there is a real sense of craftsmanship that goes into the creation of each and every Bentley model, and the Mulsanne is no different. The car is significant for being Bentley’s first all-new originally designed car since the 1930’s, the Mulsanne was created using its predecessor, company founder W.O. Bentley’s 1930 Bentley 8-liter model, as the inspiration. Then again, the Mulsanne is more than just beauty on wheels. While most of its technical details are being withheld until its official unveiling at Frankfurt, Bentley did give a glimpse of what’s sitting under the Mulsanne’s polished hood: an all-new 6.75 Liter V8 engine.

If you thought the very feminine Lancia designed by ELLE that we brought you yesterday was the perfect gift for the woman of your dreams, the modification specialists at Mansory have just come up with the car of every woman’s dreams with the Vitesse Rosé based on the Bentley Continental GT and it will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week.
In French the word Vitesse means velocity and Rosé is the color that covers this very feminine super car. The exterior of the Vitesse features Mansory’s signature aero package that consists of a few carbon fiber bits as well as a new front bumper with larger intakes up front and a redesigned rear unit complete with cutouts for the quad tipped over under stainless steel exhaust that gives Barbie’s Bentley an earth rumbling exhaust note. Finishing off the exterior of the highly modifiedd Bentley are a set of Mansory designed 21 inch lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in Dunlop Sport Maxx GT rubber for an added level of fun behind the wheel.
On the inside functionality and luxury are the themes that Mansory touches on by using premium materials like soft supple leather, highly detailed carbon fiber accents and meticulous hand stitched details that set the Vitesse Rosé apart from ordinary Bentleys. The very exclusive Vitesse Rosé will be limited to only three units starting at 269,000 euros each.

Turns out going green can sometimes cost a lot of green. It’s no surprise that Bentley’s bio-fueled Continental Supersports will be priced out of the hands of the typical eco-friendly driver, but the $267,000 list price will put it in very rare territory for even trust-funders.
The $43,000 premium over the Bentley Continental GT Speed yields an extra 21 hp (or about $2K per pony.) The extra cash for the Supersports is not just about power, but getting less (weight) as well. A lot of glut was removed from the interior and replaced with lighter composite materials. The rear seats were completely removed, and the remaining front buckets use carbon fiber for rigidity. Bentley says the car is now 243 lbs lighter then the Continental GT Speed, which represents about a four percent total weight reduction.
Continental Supersports is powered by a 6.0-liter W12 engine that delivers 621 hp. It does 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds (0.6 seconds better than the GT Speed), 0 -100 mph in 8.9 seconds and can hit a top speed of 204 mph (2 more than the GT Speed). Orders for U.S. cars will start to be taken in October, but those will be gas-only cars. Well-heeled environmentalists will have to wait until next summer for the full 621 hp bio-fuel model.
After seeing the first teaser image of Bentley’s future biofuel supercar, here’s the teaser video of the most powerful Bentley ever that will debut in Geneva.
The image on Bentley’s media page used the name "Victoria" to identify to car. So will this company codename make it to production? or has David Beckham and his wife finally bought enough of Bentley’s products to get one named after them? We’ll find out in March.
Following up Bentley’s recent 50-year celebration of the legendary 6.75-liter V-8, the company is readying a all-new model powered by biofuel. Currently, the car is known simply as the Extreme Bentley and it will debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show. While Bentley’s current top-performance car, Bentley Continental GT, puts out 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, Bentley says its new car will be the company’s “fastest, most powerful car ever” – those are some pretty big words if you ask us. More importantly though, the new biofuel-powered car is just the first phase in an initiative Bentley plans to spread across its lineup by 2012 with a goal to reduce carbon emissions of its overall fleet by 15 percent and, with an advanced new powertrain, help cut fuel consumption by up to 40 percent.
The Extreme Bentley sports a unique, but instantly recognizable Bentley design – briefly revealed in a teaser video Bentley showed on its Web site. Up front, the quad lamps and large mesh grille reflect the look of the Arnage, Azure, Brooklands and Continental, while the long hood and swept roofline should give the car an aggressive stance. The Extreme Bentley will mark the first flex fuel Bentley vehicle to which Bentley believes that bioethanol fuels, such as E85 in the United States, will become a sustainable and ethical alternative fossil fuels in the future. Short of the electric-powered Tesla Roadster, the Extreme Bentley, being such a powerful car that also takes the environment into consideration, should revolutionize luxury sport cars.
Bentley Motor Cars revealed a dramatic concept car the Hunaudieres at 1999 Geneva Motor Show, one year after Volkswagen became the owner of Bentley company. This supercar project provides the debut of a new 16 cylinder engine developed to a specific brief to provide a technologically advanced power plant with unique Bentley characteristics.
It is powered by a W-16 engine, developed by VW, who actually combined two V-8 engines together at an angle of 72 degrees, a displacement of 8 litres (...)
