Jeff Koons’ special-edition BMW M3 GT2 Art Car was unveiled in front of 300 international VIP guests yesterday in the Centre Pompidou, one of the world’s most prestigious cultural institutions for modern and contemporary art.
This was the same site where Roy Lichtenstein unveiled and signed the very first BMW Art Car back in 1997, so it was a fitting place for Koons to show off his new masterpiece.
Koons’ BMW Art Car will not just be a show-piece either. Following in the footsteps of other notable Art Car-makers, Koons creation will eventually see action at the 24 hours of Nurburgring on June 12 and 13.
In the event that you want to see Jeff Koons’ BMW M3 GT2 Art Car before it joins the fray at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, you have the opportunity to do so today, from 11 am to 9 pm at the Forum of the Centre Pompidou. If you stick around until 5:30 pm, you might catch Jeff Koons himself as he does a book signing session at the museum book shop. Following that, at 6 pm, will be Koons, who will be joined by Centre Pompidou president Alain Seban, to talk about his work of art back at the Forum.
