Back in 2010, the M3 was celebrating its 25th anniversary, which was a perfect opportunity for BMW to begin launching a bunch of special editions all over the world. China, for example, received the cool Tiger Edition, and since the Chinese market is flourishing, BMW has decided to throw them yet another special edition called the M3 Coupe Matte Edition.

Compared to a standard M3, the M3 Matte edition will be distinguished by two unique exterior paints: gunmetal gray and black. Both of these colors have been obtained by combining a metallic finish with a silky matte clear coat that allows for the special luxury gloss to glisten in the sun. Next to this, the special edition has also received new 19" black high-gloss alloy wheels, black chrome side air intakes and exhaust pipes, and red brake calipers.

The interior also get splashes of black and red in the black carbon fiber insertions and leather on the front and rear seats, and the door armrests. These are further decorated with red accent stitching.

In terms of power, the special edition M3 will still come packing its usual 4.0L V8 engine producing 414 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to the M3’s six-speed manual transmission with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated-manual transmission (M DCT)as an option.

Know what, the Chinese seems to be getting quite lucky this year. They have been getting actually a lot of special-edition vehicles from almost every manufacturer.

Well, considering how big the automobile market is in that country, it is no wonder that almost all car makers would actually go crazy and give them these special editions. Just goes to show how important they really are.

Well, I don’t see anything worth it for this edition. OK, the black is good, but I do think that they should have added a bit more of other shades.

Wow! that looks so elegant and aggressive, so i have to agree on jay_walker. Aside from that, its been too depressing that this would be the last production.

Yeah, the lack of engine upgrades is a bit of a disappointment. But since this one is an M3, it is quite understandable, since the engine is already powerful.

This one is really more of an aesthetic upgrade rather than a performance one, so I don’t really expect a boost in performance. But I do like the way they did the colors.

There isn’t really much to say about this M3 except for the fact that it has a great color scheme. The lack of an engine update is certainly a downer though.

this will certainly be the last special edition M3 you can buy, the new BMW 3 series is coming up in 6 month to a year max, and the new M3 shortly after that.

If you need to buy a M3 right now, you might want to hold on or consider an laternative like the CTV-S coupe or the new C63, even thought the C63 coupe is coming out very soon as well

looks like ctv-v coupe is the way to go for 2011 !
