Oh, look. There’s another German aftermarket company that has prepared a program for the BMW 4 Series. At this rate, we’re probably going to see enough aftermarket programs to fill up an entire catalog. Not that it’s a problem, given the 4 Series is nothing short of awesome. This is exactly why so many tuning firms are jumping all over it. And now we have the German aftermarket company Best-Tuning, which is known for its works on Bavaria’s finest.

Since its founding in 1997, Best-Tuning has created a laundry list of tuning kits for cars and motorcycles. Its latest work on the 4 Series follows up on that tradition, even though the lack of any aesthetic upgrades won’t win it any style points from us.But who thinks the 4 Series lacks so badly that it actually needs aesthetic enhancements?

Even without the styling upgrades, this program is far from a dud. Actually, it’s got some nice qualities to it, although not to the extent of what other aftermarket firms have developed for BMW’s newest eye candy.

Best-Tuning did do some serious work improving the 4 Series’ performance capabilities, including a mild engine tune and some chassis upgrades.

Best-Tuning enlisted the help of fellow tuner Schmidt Revolution to install a sexy set of wheels on the BMW 4 Series. For this program, Best-Tuning opted for 20-inch, Gambit-type wheels wrapped around 235/30R20 tires on the front and 275/25R20 tires out back. Separate of the total cost, this new set of wheels carries a price tag of €2,600, which is about $3,500 as of 8/4/2014.

The German tuner also installed KW coilovers on the 4 Series, a result of its partnership with KW-Suspension. There’s an offer to install different coilover kits on the 4 Series, with each one coming with a different price. The base price for a variant 1 suspension upgrade is €1,100, which is about $1,500 as of 8/4/2014. Expect the amount to go up from there for more sophisticated suspension setups.

The engine upgrade is the highlight of Best-Tuning’s program for the BMW 4 Series. The aftermarket company used the age-old trick of software modification to achieve an improved output of 365 horsepower, which a nice improvement from the 435i’s standard output of 306 horsepower, considering there are no parts to swap out. this upgrade comes at a price of €1,299, which is $1,743 as of 8/4/2014.

Best-Tuning didn’t say how much of the power bump translates to the sports car’s performance capabilities. Our best guess is somewhere along the lines of a 0-to-60-mph sprint time of 5.3 seconds to go with the same electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read full bio

This time, the challenge is to give the still rather young 4-series BMW as follow-up model of the 3-series coupé and cabriolet an individual and distinctive outfit. Optimal starting point is the wheel-tire-combination also for this 435ix. The fruitful co-operation with SCHMIDT GmbH in Bad Segeberg alias “Schmidt Revolution” (www.felge.de) let make the difficult because of the wealth of the offered possibilities choice for the type Gambit in the dimensions 8.5x20” in combination with 235/30-20 tires on the front or 10x20” with 275/25-20 tires on the rear axle. For the complete rim set including tires at least – depending on the tire brand – 2,600.00 Euro are to be called off.

Furthermore, in this grey coupé have been installed KW coilovers. By the way, KW-Suspension is another co-operation partner of BEST-TUNING. Depending on the variants 1 – 3, beginning with 1,100.00 Euro are to be forked out. And, finally, a power improvement only by software modification without another hardware warrants for a HP-boost of the serial 306 HP up to now 365 HP. Matter of expense for: 1,299.00 Euro. Rests to say that BEST-TUNING has in its delivery program also exhaust systems for 435ix BMW, which has not been installed in the present case.
