You know the saying “you can’t have enough of a good thing;" that certainly applies to the BMW M4, which has become an aftermarket favorite the same way I have become a fan of Krispy Kreme’s delectable treats. Run through the number of programs we’ve covered featuring the M4 and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

The latest aftermarket company to jump on the M4’s bandwagon is Lightweight and it’s no less impressive than any other M4 program we’ve come across in the past. The German tuner specializes in personalized development and production of titanium exhaust systems and yet, that didn’t stop Lightweight from giving the M4 a comprehensive tuning kit that includes a bevy of aerodynamic and performance upgrades.

The result of the program deserves nothing short of a slow clap, the kind you give to a somebody after a stunning performance.

That’s what Lightweight did to the BMW M4 and the German sports coupe looks and performs much better for it. I’ll even venture a guess that it’s got a much clearer throat for its 3.0-liter V-6 engine’s increased output. Just a hunch, although the proof does lie in the details, right?

The complete modification comes with a steep €89,000 price (that’s about $114,000 as of 9/23/2014), but it should be well worth the purchase considering what the M4 will be capable of after getting fitted with Lightweight’s aftermarket program.

Lightweight’s expertise in titanium exhaust systems shouldn’t be understated. It’s actually the only one in Germany to produce exhaust systems using modern CAD technology and specially alloyed titanium. Naturally, you expect it to be perfectly crafted, or as close to perfect as there is.

Lightweight also installed a handful of aerodynamic components on the M4, including a new front spoiler blade and a carbon rear wing. Both components aid in improving the sports car’s performance capabilities and they also make the M4 look even more sinister than it already is.

The BMW M4 also benefited from a set of wheels. For this particular ride, Lightweight opted for a set of 19-inch RI-D rims from BBS that are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Together with a new Bilstein Clubsport chassis, these wheels create an improved aesthetic value and provides the M4 with a more performance-oriented setup that should come in handy when the car’s flexing its muscles.

The last bit of business was for Lightweight to improve the output of the M4’s 3.0-liter V-6 engine. The standard output of the sports coupe is 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, but thanks to Lightweight’s incredible engineers, the M4 now has 520 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque at its disposal.

Performance numbers haven’t been announced but we can at least expect the reinvented M4 to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in around 3.7 seconds to go with a top speed of about 180 mph.

Did you think Lightweight was done after all those upgrades? Well, the company also said that it’s planning a more race-oriented version of the M4. That version will come with all the bells and whistles of a full race-spec car, including a safety cage, bucket seats with six-point safety belts, an adjustable front spoiler blade, a carbon rear diffuser, a spoiler lip on the boot lid, an enclosed underbody, and another round of weight reduction that should give the M4 even more oomph to knock out any sports coupe that it comes in contact with.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More

If the economy of weight is first of all when carrying out a tuning, the name of the firm LIGHTWEIGHT directly corresponds to this task. The enterprise of firm located in Mittenaar to the east of Herborn of the Hessen State mainly specializes in on the individual development and production of titanium exhaust system. All exhaust systems are produced by using modern CAD technology from specially alloyed titanium which exclusive right of use in Germany belongs only to LIGHTWEIGHT.
It is natural that the whole equipment park is on state-of-the-art technological level. The titanium as noble material is characterized by high resistance to corrosion, unusual durability and small weight and therefore concerning the price is noticeably above quotations of stainless steel.

Valve control (is also in stainless steel available) as well as brake system with 4 piston saddles and endless brake pads on the serial discs at front and rear axle. By the way, a genial wheel and tyre combination from the RI-D rims of BBS in 9x19 Inches with Michelin PilotSportCup2 in 265/35-19 (VA), respectively in 10x19 Inches with 285/35-19 (HA), is combined with Bilstein Clubsport chassis.
