G-Power continues to do wonders for the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. Because of its work on the model, it’s not surprising that the German tuner jumped at the chance to work on another M6 Gran Coupe.

The tuning firm’s new Bi-Tronik 5 system is a step up from the Bi-Tronic-III V2 kit that we previously saw on the M6 Gran Coupe back in 2013. Part of that "step up" is a noticeable bump in output that should ring music to the ears of M6 Gran Coupe owners. All the cursory modifications are also there, including upgrades for the wheels, brakes, and suspension system.

But the most noticeable and surprising modification happened on the car’s interior. Who knew G-Power had the knowledge to create a multi-functional cabin that features an eclectic yet effective package featuring fine leather, Alcantara, iPads, and an iMac that comes with Apple TV? It’s a pleasant shift from what we’re used to with G-Power and it’s a big reason G-Power’s program for the M6 Gran Coupe has our unbiased seal of approval.

You might not realize it at first but if you look closer, you’ll notice that the M6 Gran Coupe also got an upgraded exhaust system.

The star of this program is G-Power’s Bi-Tronik 5 system, which has a unique way of modifying the amount of fuel and the ignition timing depending on its boost level. The Bi-Tronik 5 system uses a patched-in microprocessor to improve the car’s ECU management system without disrupting the system’s diagnostic functions.

What this system does is add enough horsepower to turn the M6 Gran Coupe into a bonafide super-saloon that produces 710 horsepower and 656 pound-feet of torque. That’s a hefty 150-horsepower and 155-pound-feet increase from the standard 560 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque delivered by the 4.4-liter, V-8 engine.

You might not realize it at first but if you look closer, you’ll notice that the M6 Gran Coupe also got an upgraded exhaust system. A new titanium exhaust system finds its way on the M6, and customers can even choose between titanium or carbon tailpipes. Combining the exhaust system with the Bi-Tronik 5 system pushes the total output to 740 horsepower and 719 pound-feet of torque.

The interior of this program is a sight to behold, not so much because of its luxurious amenities but because of all the tech options it has. Up front, the M6 Gran Coupe was treated to an ergonomic sports steering wheel with carbon and leather fitments. This same treatment makes its was to other parts of the cabin, including the center console. Soft leather and Alcantara cover the rest of the interior’s surfaces, making it look like an authentic luxury interior. It’s going to be a headache to clean, but that’s a problem reserved for another day.

A G-Power tuning kit isn't complete without the inclusion of a set of wheels.

A heavy dose of illuminated G-Power logos complement these luxury refinements, as well as an exclusive and mouth-watering multimedia entertainment system. IPads have been installed on the back of the front seats while a central monitor hides in the roof and lowers with ease. There’s also an Apple iMac that comes equipped with Apple TV. And you thought there was nothing else to do in the back of the M6 Gran Coupe.

A G-Power tuning kit isn’t complete without the inclusion of a set of wheels. Not much has changed on this M6 Gran Coupe program because it comes dressed in a fancy set of 21-inch G-Power Hurricane RR forged wheels wrapped in a set of Michelin tires.

These wheels are more than just aesthetic pleasures as they work well with G-Power’s new height-adjustable GM6-RS coil-over suspension that has nine different settings.

Likewise, a G-Power Braking System comes with it, providing the M6 Gran Coupe higher braking force than the stock system, as well as a ceramic braking system that not only reduces unsprung mass by half, but also improves the coupe’s cornering and road handling capabilities.

One of the world’s strongest BMW M6 Gran Coupé is made by G-POWER: The newly developed G-POWER Bi-Tronik in its 5th generation is increasing the power output of the BMW M6 Gran Coupé to awesome 740 hp (544 kW) and 975 Nm of torque

Therefore G-POWER is using the hidden potential of the BMW M6 Gran Coupé for a power output enhancement of awesome 150 hp and 210 Nm of torque. The G-POWER Bi-Tronik 5 V4 pushes the factory 560 hp/ 680 Nm to 710 hp/ 890 Nm.

The basis for the electronic output increase is the fact that G-POWER, in contrast to the manufacturer, does not use standard software full of compromises but an individual solution for the engine. Among others, the parameters for the amount of fuel and the ignition timing are modified depending on the increased boost level. In case of the G-POWER Bi-Tronik 5, these modifications are made by a micro-processor that is patched in before the standard BMW ECU. Of course all standard protection and diagnostic functions of the original BMW ECU stay untouched. During the engineering process of the latest generation of the successful Bi-TRONIK the G-POWER R&D department has transferred its experience from the area of supercharging to the turbocharged BMW engines. After all, the ASA supercharger used for the G-POWER supercharger systems is closely related to the turbochargers featured by BMW, since both units us a centrifugal compressor to build up boost.

But not just the ECU management has been modified by G-POWER in order to achieve a power output of 740 hp, the exhaust system has been substantially reworked as well to provide for an output optimized back pressure. The modification of the exhaust system cover catalysts replacement pipes (downpipes) and a G-POWER Titanium exhaust system, incl. Titanium link pipes with resonators starting from the down pipe. In addition to the power output increase the G-POWER Titanium exhaust system gives the BMW M6 Gran Coupé a deep, throaty sound that turns heads but is at now time annoying and at the same time saves approx. 12 kg compared to the stock exhaust system. The G-POWER exhaust system is available with four Titanium or Carbon Tailpipes with a diameter of 100 mm each.

In result the G-POWER Bi-Tronik 5 V4 pushes the BMW M6’s standard output of 560 hp / 680 Nm to an awesome 740 hp and 975 Nm of torque. Naturally the performance figures benefit from this output increase, as well. The figure from stand still to 200 km/h is now just 10,5 seconds and the top speed is more than 300 km/h.

Concerning the suspension at first one will notice the 21 inch G-POWER HURRICANE RR forged wheels, wrapped with tyres from the G-POWER’s technology partner MICHELIN in the dimensions 255/30 ZR 21 and 295/25 ZR 21. The double spokes, typical for the G-POWER design, highlight the elegant design of the BMW M6 Gran Coupé. Further improvement of the road handling is realized through the continuously height-adjustable G-POWER coil-over suspension GM6-RS with nine selectable settings each for bound and rebound.

Of course the negative acceleration is in the focus of G-POWER, as well. Even without output increase, the standard braking system may lose brake force when pushed to the limit, accompanied by a moving braking point, the so called fading effect. The perfect cure against the fading effect is a G-POWER Braking System. With its six brake pistons and 420 mm brake disc diameter for the front axle the G-POWER Braking System enables a substantially higher brake force than the standard braking system. In addition the G-POWER ceramic braking system reduces the unsprung mass by 50% percent, compared to a system with steel brake discs. Accordingly the cornering and road handling is improved significantly.

Next to the modifications that increase the power output and performance, G-POWER has reworked the interior of the BMW M6 Gran Coupé completely. Exclusive accessories such as the ergonomically formed sports steering wheel or instruments in G-Power design endow the interior with sophistication much like the noble carbon-leather fitments which can easily compete with the interior of the luxury limousines or Bentley or Rolls Royce in terms of material and production quality. Wherever possible, the plastic surfaces of the standard production M6 cockpit were covered with futuristic high-tech compound materials or soft leather/Alcantara. Visual highlights – in the truest sense of the word – are the illuminated G-POWER logos spread throughout the interior.

The modification of the M6 Gran Coupé’s interior by G-POWER is completed by an exclusive multimedia entertainment system that leaves nothing to be desired. Next to a powerful audio system, electric powered iPads in the rear of the front seats, a lowerable main monitor from the headlining and an Apple iMac incl. Apple TV enable leisure time or productive work according to the desires of the car’s owner.
