The first time I saw the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe I was smitten. It was low, black, long and imposing. Unfortunately, all I could do back then is download a photograph and set it as a wallpaper on my desktop. Pictures of it garnished my working PC for at least three years. Now, at a time when the 6 Series is on its last legs, just waiting to be replaced by the 8 Series and the 8 Series Gran Coupe, Japanese tuner, Wald International, came up with yet another tuning package that prolongs the life of one of the most imposing cars of the decade. This is the Wald International Black Bison body kit that's specifically tailored for 2011 and newer models of the BMW 640 and 650i.

What Makes the 6 Series Gran Coupe Wald International Black Bison Special?

Wald International isn’t exactly unknown in the circle of BMW 6 Series owners. The company has produced a number of kits for the Munich-bred, coupe-inspired sedan, with the latest one giving the 6 Series a somewhat serious character. Despite having a bunch of new parts, the 6 Series Black Bison does not feel the slightest bit flashy or cheezy. Wald International kept the sophisticated lines intact, granting the 6 Series little more than chubbier bumpers, skirts, and spoilers.

New elements sit deeper, visually lowering the car and giving it a more sinister stance. With an added splitter and a rather pronounced rear diffuser, the Wald International 6 Series Black Bison also feels a bit sportier. I am sure this was one of the tasks - to make a serious looking BMW a bit madder. The Japanese did not overdo it. It is just right.

There is, however, something I’d rather Wald International left untouched. The wheels. The Japanese company prepared two different wheel designs for the Black Bison 6 Series - I11C and J11C. Both offer a good design, but 22-inch wheels on the 6 Series look like they are a bit too much. It is overkill, really. Honestly, 20-inch wheels would be far more sensible and would look more in line with the rest of the body kit. That’s just me though. I am sure Wald International customers have a somewhat different taste when it comes to the size of things.

Conclusion

Although it's rather old, the BMW 6 Series still feels sinister and sophisticated. Yes, BMW will replace it with a new car soon, but this one, with Wald International's Black Bison kit, isn’t underwhelming. At all. On the contrary, it is freaking awesome.
