This ominous beast is more powerful than the Urus and quicker than a Hellcat

We are still a year or two away from the new BMW X5 M launch. Yet, the old one is still in excellent shape with its striking V-8 and intimidating looks. That’s why we are seeing it again coming out of a tuner’s garage. In this case, from the garage of Auto-Dynamics from Poland.

These guys are no strangers to tuning all sorts of German machinery, including Porsches, Audis and BMWs. Their latest project is the F85 BMW X5 M, and it was massaged to deliver more power than the Lamborghini Urus and drive to 62 mph almost as quickly as the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera. Apart from giving credibility to Russian mobsters, to sons of Arab oil barons, and really successful cocaine kings, cars like this show what the SUV world is doing nowadays. It seems that the world of SUVs has reached the same stage as what tuned sports cars had reached twenty years ago - a place between rationality and madness.

Dramatically Increased Power

New, less restrictive air intakes and new exhausts are among the prime additions focused on increasing power and improving the breathing of the X5 M V-8

Auto-Dynamics didn’t fiddle a lot with the TwinPower Turbo, V-8. Instead, the 4.4-liter BMW engine we know from a multitude of BMW M cars received an ECU remap. This process usually changes some parameters of the ignition, air/fuel mixture and throttle response squeezing out a bit more oomph from the turbocharged engines. Yet, Auto-Dynamics added some hardware to that as well. New, less restrictive air intakes and new exhausts are among the prime additions focused on increasing power and improving the breathing of the X5 M V-8. Of course, changing these features led to a precise ECU reprogram that takes the new intake and exhaust values into account.

Results?

670 horsepower and 649 pound-feet of torque. See, those are Urus-beating numbers.

Performance

Auto-Dynamics disclosed that their BMW X5 M will accelerate to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds

With so much more power (100 horsepower,) the BMW X5 M left the stardom of super SUVs and entered the domain of supercars. Auto-Dynamics disclosed that their BMW X5 M will accelerate to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds. Unfortunately, they didn’t provide details about its top speed, but the stock car is limited to 155 mph. This one, with 670 horsepower, could achieve the magic number of 186 mph (300 km/h,) and maybe even more!

This behemoth ticks in at more than 5,250 lbs, only making its acceleration feat more impressive. Plus, it is not exactly slippery through the air. This goes to show how mean and malevolent the BMW, 4.4-liter, TwinPower, Turbo truly is. It is a beast. The exterior looks of the car follow the mischievous form of the muscle under the bonnet.

All in black, the X5 M shows off a few carbon-fiber pieces on the outside and massive 22-inch wheels. Plus, it sits a tad closer to the ground thanks to Hamann suspension hardware.

Pieces From Different Tuners

Although all of this seems quite incredible, the truth is that Auto-Dynamics actually sourced many of the parts for this X5 M from different tuners.

Part Brand
Distancers Eibach
Suspension Hamann
Front Splitter & Rear Diffuser Manhart Performance
Exhaust Downpipes Eisenmann
Exhaust Akrapovic
Exhaust Sound Controller Awron Systems
ECU Module Novatune
Brake Lines Fischer Hydraulik

Don’t let this deter you from Auto-Dynamics. Do you really believe that other tuners do not do the same thing?

Regardless of the business behind the car, one thing is for certain. The X5 M by Auto-Dynamics is angry, savvy, ominous, and black. The Polish went out of their way to remove as much chrome pieces as possible to make the most sinister X5 M you’ve seen in a while. I think they’ve done it.
