The fourth-generation BMW X5 is set to arrive very soon for the 2019 model year, but Bimmer is already ramping up the hype with a slew of new M Performance parts, including fresh exterior bits and new interior equipment. Off-roading- or racer-styles are both on offer.

Adding Extra Sporting Style To The Mid-Size SUV

BMW is framing these new parts for the latest fourth-generation BMW X5 as offering a combination of both form and function, not only giving it a unique look, but also helping it give the driver “impressive off-road performance with outstanding driving dynamics quality on the road.” Interested buyers can get theirs through the Original BMW Accessories program, with availability opening up in conjunction with the worldwide market launch of the new BMW X5 in March of 2019.

Let’s start outside, where we find a variety of carbon fiber bits that help the X5 more efficiently cut through the air, while also keeping weight relatively low. These various components come with a honeycomb structure inspired by motor racing, plus a high-gloss finish to help it shine on the street.

The profile gets new carbon fiber side view mirror caps, plus new side sills finished in a matte black color with the M Performance branding added along the side.

If you’re more of the “rough-and-tumble” type, BMW is also offering some new off-roader-style gear, including 20-inch Star Spoke 748 M wheels made from a light aluminum-alloy and fitted with all-terrain rubber. The wheel itself uses a matte-black finish for the rim to help it look unique compared to the stock rollers.

Also optional are new 22-inch wheels with a Start Spoke 749 M design and rolled rim well. In addition to looking good, these wheels cut a few pounds in unsprung weight per roller compared to comparable wheels of the same size, and come wrapped in new 22-inch tires as well.

The fresh calipers clamp down on larger vented and perforated M Performance discs, and come in a bright red finish to add a little extra style to the mix.

As you might expect, the upgrades don’t stop with the exterior bits, as Bimmer is also offering a full complement of interior gear to match.

That includes a new M Performance steering wheel with an Alcantara cover for the wheel rim and a prominent red mark at the 12 o’clock position, plus silver-grey contrast stitching. Additionally, buyers can option into carbon fiber trim for the steering wheel and optional carbon shift paddles as well.

Complementary features include M Performance floor mats, M Performance pedals, and an M Performance dead pedal.

There are new LED door projectors on offer as well, with a light-up element that projects the BMW M logo onto the ground around the side skirts when opening the doors.

If you’re dead set on extracting every bit of performance possible from your X5, you’ll want the M Performance Drive Analyzer, which comes with an OBD connector stick that mates to a smartphone app. Essentially, this system relays critical parts of the onboard diagnostics to the app, providing insight with a bevy of driving data and a logging system, not to mention a sync with your smartphone video camera and GPS position data.

Finally, BMW is offering an M Performance key wallet to totally round out the accessory catalogue.

The 2019 BMW X5 will go on sale next month, with pricing starting at $60,700. Of course, it bears mentioning that if you want the full-fat BMW X5 M model, you’ll need to wait a bit, as a debut won’t be happening until 2019 for the 2020 model year.
