The 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe M Performance Parts is a factory-customized version of the newly unveiled four-door sedan. Just like any BMW model available, the 2020 2 Series Gran Coupe can be customized with a series of design elements crafted by the M division. While most of these parts are supposed to enhance the car's looks inside and out, the package also includes some elements that improve performance. Let's find out more about that in the review below.

What Makes the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe With M Performance Parts Special?

- Black front grille - Black window trim - Carbon-reinforced plastic mirror caps - Two-tone wheels - Black rear spoiler - Stainless steel exhaust pipes - Alcantara steering wheel - Custom floor mats - Carbon-trim shift paddles - Updated braking system - Alcantara key holder - Race-inspired tire bags

Design-wise, the 2 Series Gran Coupe with the M Performance Parts looks a lot like a proper M2 model. That's because the regular chrome grille is replaced with a high-gloss black mesh. The same goes for the trim in the bumper, also finished in high-gloss black as seen on many M cars. The only thing missing up front is the "M2" badge on the grille and the larger bumper vents. The profile remains relatively unchanged, but proper M models are also similar to their regular siblings save for a slightly lowered ride height. But this package adds black trim around the windows and carbon-reinforced plastic mirror caps. These are handcrafted and sealed with a clear finish, so they're actually identical to the mirror caps you get on M2 models.

When it comes to wheels, you can choose between three different models. First up, BMW offers 18-inch Y-spoke rims made from forged steel. If you like bigger rollers, you can order the 19-inch wheels in a double-spoke design. These are very similar to the M wheels offered on more expensive models. Both options come finished in Jet Black paint to match the black accents on the body. The 19-inch wheels are also available in a burnished finish with matte clear lacquer on top. If monochrome wheels aren't your thing, BMW offers a set of 18-inch double-spoke rims in a two-tone finish combining Cerium Grey and burnished hue.

Upgrades continue in the rear with an M spoiler atop the trunk lid. Finished in high-gloss black, it's not just for looks, it also optimizes the air stream around the car and reduces lift. The high-gloss black badges and M Performance stainless steel tailpipes round off the customized rear end.

The M-inspired theme continues inside the cabin with a bespoke steering wheel that features high-grip Alcantara areas, large thumb-rest areas, and silver-grey cross-stitching on the rim. It also features carbon-reinforced plastic inserts on the upper spokes and a similar vertical line on the lower spoke. The 12-o'clock red marker helps with the race-inspired look. The shift paddles behind the steering wheel also have carbon-fiber fabric surfaces instead of chrome like on the regular model. BMW also added floor mats with "M Performance" lettering, leather-look edges, and contrast stitching.

The M Performance Parts package doesn't include any engine upgrades, so power remains the same. You can upgrade the 228i xDrive model, which features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Opt to update the M235i xDrive version, which already includes some of the features above as standard, and the output of the 2.0-liter engine grows to 301 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. The only performance-related upgrade that comes with this package is an M Performance braking system with red brake saddles. Featuring larger, inner-vented discs, it improves braking response and shortens the distance the car needs to come to a complete halt.

On top of all the features above, BMW also offers some accessories, starting with a slide set for the LED door projectors. You can also order a key holder made from high-quality Alcantara and carbon-fiber inserts. Finally, you can opt for custom tire bags made from high-quality, heavy-duty plastic material. These feature an M Performance design inspired from the world of racing.

No info on pricing yet, but we'll be back to update this section as soon as BMW spills the beans.
