With 503 horsepower under the hood, the BMW X3 M Competition is one of the most powerful compact SUVs out there. Plus that, it is also quite decent looking.

But in true Manhart spirit, there was something about the X3 M Competition that needed to be updated too. The result? MHX3 600! You would think that the 600 stands for the amount of power under the hood, but it is not, as the MHX3 600 in fact delivers a total of 635 horsepower!

Let's find out how that was even possible!

What changes were made under the hood?

In its standard form, the BMW X3 M Competition is powered by a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine that delivers a total of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.

The MHX3 600 comes with a few changes under the hood that will add another 130 horsepower! It all started with a MHtronik auxiliary control unit, a new stainless steel exhaust system with valve control and downpipes with 300-cell catalytic converters.

No words on how these updates change the car's performance figures, but we expect the MHX3 600 to go from 0 to 60 mph in less than the standard 3.7 seconds.

What other changes are offered?

Manhart is also improving the exterior look of the X3 M Competition a little bit. The tuner offers a carbon fiber body kit that includes a new splitter, side flaps, and skirt inserts for the front, mirror caps, and a rear diffuser. But, what we really like about the MHX3 600 is that cool-looking Matt Dark Blue foil that covers the entire body!

The suspension was also upgraded with H&R springs so the car now sits 30 mm closer to the ground.

And, the good news is that all these updates can also be applied to the BMW X4 M Competition.
