When BMW announced the 1 Series M135i, we knew that it doesn't really have a chance to stand against the likes of the Volkswagen Golf R or the Mercedes-AMG A35. But, with the new updates offered by Manhart, things might be a little bit different.

What changes were made under the hood?

In its standard version, the BMW M135i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that delivers a total of 306 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque - great numbers for an entry-level M model.

But, even a compact car like the M135i can be further improved. For it, Manhart installed an MHtronik auxiliary control unit and a new carbon intake by ARMAspeed. As a result, the engine is now delivering a total of 350 horsepower and 386 pound-feet of torque.

The engine's sound has also been improved by adding a new sports exhaust system that ends with four matte black 90-millimeter tailpipes and is also equipped with a 300-cell HJS catalytic converter.

Are there any other changes?

As is with any other Manhart kits, most of the updates were made under the hood, but small changes were also done to the exterior and the interior.

The exterior body kit adds a new front spoiler, a rear diffuser, a roof spoiler, and side skirts. Of course, these changes are not big, but they make the M135i look a lot more aggressive, and when you add the black finish you get a sports car worthy of its name.

The car rides on a new set of 8.5x20-inch wheels in cross-spoke design and finished in "Diamond Polished." Manhart has also updated the suspension with new lowering springs by H&R. These changes will lower the car's center of gravity by about 30 millimeters.

On the inside, the only updates are limited to a new set of high-quality floor mats with the Manhart logo.
