While the world is waiting for the next-generation BMW M5 - a sports car that will offer a hybrid powertrain - Manhart focused its attention on the current M5 Competition. The new kit - called MH5 800 Black Edition - is all about offering more power under the hood, but there are a few changes offered for both, the exterior and the interior.

What changes were made under the hood?

From the factory, the BMW M5 Competition is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that produces 625 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. These are, of course, great numbers for a sports sedan, but there is always room for improvement.

By using a comprehensive turbo upgrade and adding a new stainless steel exhaust system with two twin tailpipes encased in carbon, plus downpipes with a 200-cell catalytic converter, Manhart was able to increase the output up to a total of 815 horsepower and 760 pound-feet of torque.

There are no words on how the extra 200 horsepower improved the car's performance figures, but for sure it will be a lot better than the standard: 0 to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph.

What other changes are offered?

As is with any other tuning programs, Manhart focused most of its attention under the hood, but there were a few changes done too for both the exterior and the interior.

For the exterior, the tuner is offering a very cool carbon fiber kit that includes a new engine hood with two striking air outlet units, a front spoiler attachment, a rear spoiler lip, and a diffuser insert.

The car rides on a new set of 21-inch Hamann Anniversary EVO Black Line alloy wheels finished in matte black. They are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires in the dimensions 265/30ZR21 and 305/25ZR21.

Manhart is also offering a set of lowering springs from H&R that will bring the car closer to the ground.

As its name suggests, the Manhart MH5 800 Black Edition is finished in black with an eye-catching decorative trim.

The interior didn't get too many updates, but there are a few elements covered in carbon fiber.
