This E85 BMW Z4 With a V-10 Is Clearly From a Different Dimension or Alternate Reality
What to do when you’ve got a 600 horsepower BMW Z4 that loves to smoke its back tires on your hands? The only logical answer is to take it to Germany’s limitless Autobahn network and allow it to run free. That’s exactly what the AutoTopNL did and, boy, is it a joy to watch. Just to refresh your memory before we delve deeper into this crazy build: never did the E85-generation Z4 come with anything bigger than the 3.2-liter S54 inline-six from the factory. Yep, we don’t quite know how the E60/E63-era V-10 fit in there either but here it goes.
2021 BMW M4 Convertible
The 2021 BMW M4 Convertible is the upcoming, next-generation version of the company’s beefed-up compact drop-top. Set to be unveiled alongside the Coupe, the 2021 M4 Convertible will share almost all exterior features with the hard-top model, save for changes necessary to accommodate a folding roof.
Likely based on the BMW Concept 4, the 2021 M4 Convertible will probably feature the massive front grille seen on the show car. Like most recent M-badged models, the 2021 M4 Convertible will most likely arrive with two engine options, with the more powerful version called M4 Competition. 2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible
BMW is set to launch an all-new 4-Series two-door sometime in 2019 or 2020, and while the G23 coupe version will not feature any dramatic changes over the current model, the G22 droptop will. Spy shots indicate that for the first time in two generations (E93 and F33), BMW is giving up on the folding hardtop design in favor of the more traditional soft top option which it last used on the E46 model discontinued in 2006.
Heavy camouflage covers the prototype spotted, but this important change is quite evident as the canvas top is left completely bare (quite obviously on purpose). It might be an illusion caused by the camo, but it also appears this new 4-Series has a longer hood and rear decklid compared to its predecessor.

My wife will be the first to tell you that I suck at math, but after reviewing Cars Direct’s findings of lease cost for the 2020 Toyota Supra and 2020 BMW Z4, even I can tell you things don’t add up properly – and that’s saying a lot. In short, the more expensive BMW Z4 is cheaper to lease than the Toyota Supra, even when you go for the Z4 M40i and compare it to the entry-level Toyota Supra. Yikes!

Naturally, such a staged drag race isn’t always about gas-guzzling muscle cars or heavily-modded vehicles that put out in excess of 1,000 horsepower. We’ve seen econoboxes taking forever to complete the quarter-mile all in the name of fun, so when someone pits the Ford Mustang GT Fastback against the new Toyota Supra and BMW Z4, all we can do is watch and enjoy.
A New Rendering Hints at What the Next-Gen BMW 4 Series Cabrio Could Look Like
BMW is heavily involved at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show with several models making their debuts at the show. The German automaker also brought a concept model to the show, specifically the Concept 4. It’s been established that the Concept 4 isn’t an outlandish concept as much as it is an actual preview of the next-generation 4 Series, as well as future versions of the M3 and M4. Part of that future, at least as far as the next-gen 4 Series is concerned, is the BMW 4 Series Convertible.
We didn’t get to see a roofless version of the Concept 4 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but thanks to car artist X-Tomi Design, we don’t have to imagine what that concept could look like if BMW actually made it. This is X-Tomi Design’s rendering of what could be the next-generation BMW 4 Series Convertible. In so many words, the rendering is equal parts intriguing and, well, cringe-worthy.
2020 BMW M850i Convertible - Driven
The year was 2018, and it was time for BMW to have a Halo car outside of the aging i8, but BMW didn’t go for another EV or a high-powered supercar. Instead, after a 20-year hiatus, BMW decided that it was time to revive the 8 Series name, and that’s exactly what happened on June 15, 2018. The modern, sporty 2019 BMW 8 Series shot like an arrow straight to the heart of purists as BMW let out the roaring promise of crippling power in a sexy coupe silhouette – 523 horsepower in M850i form, to be specific. Since the return of the new 8 Series that hot day in the middle of June, the 8 Series lineup has expanded to include the 840i, M850i, M8, and the soon-to-launch Gran Coupe that should be offered in both M850i and M8 form.
Like most BMW fanboys, we started picking apart the new BMW 8 Series. We wondered: Is it worthy of the 8 Series name? Will it be worth the near-six-figure price? Can this large of a car really offer up the performance, handling, and luxury that not only have we come to expect from BMW but from something that wears the crown of a halo car? We’ve set out to find the truth on a number of occasions, and have even compared it on paper to the 6 Series, the Aston Martin DB11, and the Mercedes S-Class. It wasn’t until Summer of 2019 that we actually got to sit behind the wheel of the new 8 Series, though. But, when we did, we were graced with the honor of driving the M850i Convertible – a model that is said to blend 523 horsepower, world-class driving dynamics, and the best open-air feeling on the market.
The question now is, however, does the all-new 8 Series actually live up to the bold claims made by BMW? Well, we spent a whole week with the M850i Convertible, and this is our story. You might want to buckle up because things get interesting!!
2019 BMW i8 Roadster Driven
The BMW i8 Roadster is the car you want to have if you want to make more statements at once. If you want to look wealthy, unusual, and with an eye towards our future, you should park an i8 in your driveway. The 2+2 sports car still looks fresh six years into its production cycle and, as much as we love the glassed roof of the coupe, this roadster version is the one to have during the summer months. We took one for a spin to see if BMW has lost the lead in the hybrid sports car segment or if the i8 is still the king of the crop.
Now, the first thing you must know about the i8 Roadster is the concession it pushes you to make: due to the fact that you no longer have a fixed roof over your head and, instead, you have to make do with a soft top, there are o back seats. The place where the back seats used to be is eaten up by the two-piece, electrified roof when it’s folded away from view. On the other hand, you do get just as much oomph as in the case of the Coupe, namely 369 horsepower combined that translate to a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. Also, the roofless i8 was the first to come with the 11.6 kWh battery pack that feeds the single synchronous electric motor on the front axle and the one that sits on the back axle, near the engine.

This is the furthest you can go with opulence and luxury before actually entering the realm of Aston Martin, Ferrari, or Bentley. It is the outermost edge of the space controlled by what one may call producers of conventional vehicles. But these two aren’t conventional. At all. They are luxurious, fast, opulent, and filled with technology both wonderful and eerie. Be aware, they are not for the timid. Wallpaper of the Day: 2019 BMW Z4
After a lot of controversy over nameplate usage, BMW finally debuted the 2019 BMW Z4. To make matters a little better, the first one we got to lay eyes on was the M40i trim level that you see here. Powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six, it pumps out some 340 horsepower and can make a dedicated run to 60-mph in 4.6 seconds. It’s just not performance that matters, though, as the new Z4 is actually quite attractive. It has some of the concept’s DNA all mashed together with some 8 Series DNA too. And, since we haven’t given it any love lately, we figured why not pick out our favorite Z4 wallpaper and share it with you as our wallpaper of the day. 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible vs 2016 BMW 6 Series Convertible
The BMW 8 Series Convertible has arrived, and with its arrival comes a lot of questions regarding how it compares to the model it’s effectively replacing: the departed 6 Series Convertible. To be clear, the 8 Series Convertible isn’t a direct-line successor to the 6 Series Convertible. It’s packaged as a true-born flagship, developed to compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet and, in some ways, the Aston Martin DB11 Volante. You can’t say the same thing about the 6 Series Cabriolet. Still, even if there’s no direct connection between the two, it’s hard not to think of one without thinking of the other.
