There was no way Swiss tuner, Sportec, was going to miss the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And why would they considering that, given it’s right in their own backyard.
Presenting its new program for the BMW 135iM, Sportec treated it to a comprehensive performance upgrade that has made the fierce sports hatchback even more powerful than it already is from the factory. That’s a huge task, especially since the stock model’s 3.0-liter inline-six engine already boasts of 320 horsepower. But thanks to Sportec, that output has now been bumped up to 380 horsepower with an improved 0-to-100 km/h (62 mph) time of just 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 171 mph, significantly faster than the 155 mph the stock 135i comes with.
Complementing the massive power raise are many new components fitted on the sports hatch, including: a new flap exhaust system with titanium tailpipes and a set of lightweight 19-inch forged SP10 alloy wheels.
It’s not the sexiest tuning program at Geneva but for sheer purpose and thrills, this Sportec-tuned BMW 135i just got a lot scarier.
The Audi SQ5 may not have a direct competitor from BMW, but Alpina has unveiled the XD3 Biturbo - a tuning kit that seems to be a direct response to Audi’s model - at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
The XD3 is based on the 3-liter straight-six-cylinder version of the X3 and, with significant updates made under the hood, it adds plenty of extra horsepower to the engine’s standard output. The engine is coupled to a new eight-speed automatic transmission and numerous other updates have also been made to the SUV’s chassis.
Along with upgrading the engine’s characteristics, Alpina engineers also built an aerodynamic kit that includes a new front spoiler with integrated air intakes. On the rear, Alpina adds new elliptical double-ended tailpipes integrated into an Alpina-designed rear valance.

Hamann says that its new program for the BMW M5, called Mi5Sion, is the most ferocious M5 of all time.
While that may ring of hyperbole to some people, we actually think that the German tuner has a point. Sure, the program has no performance upgrades, but in terms of looks, that’s one vicious looking M5.
In order to achieve the completely redefined dynamic of the M5, Hamann dug deep in their bag of tricks to fit the sports saloon with a bevy of new components. The front spoiler is where a lot of the modifications took place. There are still some of the standard M5 features like the deep front splitter, the LEDs, and the large air intakes. But Hamann took it a step further by adding a new dual kidney-shaped grille that covers the headlights completely, making for a menacing and angry-looking M5.
In addition, Hamann also extended the width of the M5 by 30 mm (1.18 inches) on each side while also dressing it up with carbon-fiber side skirts, door fixtures, sporty wings and broad rear wheel housings. On therear, a new integrated diffuser accommodates the pair of stainless-steel tailpipes while a rear spoiler was installed to provide better downforce for the M5. Rounding out the exterior modifications is a set of 21-inch forged wheels wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R tires.
Moving to the interior, the Mi5Sion M5 was treated to plenty of leather in the same Alpine White finish of the exterior with touches of carbon embossing, giving the interior a distinctive look that fits right in with the aggressive overall appearance of the program.
Swiss tuner, Mansory, may be the king of the over-the-top aftermarket programs, but Hamann’s new "Mirr6r"program for the BMW M6 may just give Mansory a run for its money.
To say that the Mirr6r program is shiny can be a little bit of understatement. The chrome finish on the body is definitely eye catching, if not glaring when parked under the sun. But that’s not the only thing special about the Mirr6r program because Hamann went to great lengths to ratchet up the aggressive look of the luxury sports car. Notice the new bonnet on the M6 that was installed by Hamann. That one, like the rest of the new components the German tuner added to the M6, is made of carbon fiber.
The program also gives the M6 a wider look, extending the width of the car by 40 mm (1.57 inches) to go with a more pronounced stance. Hamann also did a great job in re-sculpting the M6 in such a way that its lines flow across the side skirts with its air intakes all the way to the rear spoiler, including the integrated carbon Venturi diffuser. And for added downforce, a new carbon rear spoiler was introduced. Rounding out the exterior modifications is a new set of 21-inch ultra-light forged wheels with a choice of either “Edition Race” or “Unique Forged Formula” and wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R tires to ensure top-caliber grip, steering precision and cornering ability.
Inside, Hamann used numerous leather Alcantara applications to refine the cabin space of the M6 while also adding aluminum pedals and foot rests. As an added option, the German tuner can also install a host of optional accessories, including illuminated trims in chrome.
No engine upgrades have been announced yet but Hamann said that it’s still tweaking the engine’s performance. So stay tuned for that one.
With MS Design celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Austrian tuning company has prepared a pretty fabulous program for the BMW 3-Series, called the B36.
They describe the program as “Usain Bolt in a designer suit.” Hyperbole notwithstanding, the program did do a good job combining dynamic and elegant styling with an extra bump in performance and power.
Outside, the B36 program features an aerodynamic package that includes new front and rear aprons, side skirts, fender flares, and a rear spoiler lip. Taken together, the new components do a good job highlighting the 3-Series’ curves, and further complemented by a set of 20-inch light-alloy wheels.
Moving to the interior, MS Design opted for a high-quality Ultra Suede interior, dressing up the front seats, rear seat, side panels and the center armrest in some pretty classy albeit dust-collecting suede finish.
Finally, the extra boost in power MS Design gave to the 3-Series allowed the sports car to improve its output from 306 horsepower to 360 horsepower. According to the tuner, the B36 program will be available later this year just in time for its 30th anniversary.
The program looks like a stand out. Our only question is: does it come with a cake and a party hat?
With its 560-horsepower V-8 engine, the BMW M6 is one Bimmer that needs no upgrades. That’s just our opinion, of course, because German tuner, Lumma Design, seems to think it needs a little something. The tuner has prepared a CLR 6M package and it will be unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
The tuner limited the upgrades to just the M6’s exterior and the interior, and the package can be applied to both coupe and convertible models. The aerodynamic kit includes a new front bumper with large air intakes and a full-carbon hood with venting slots. For the rear, the tuner added an optimized rear diffuser and a stainless-steel exhaust system with a total of four tail pipes measuring 100 mm (3.9 inches) in diameter.
For the exterior, Lumma offers front and rear wheel arch extensions that perfectly fit the new 21-inch sport wheels wrapped in wide tires that measure 275/30R21 on the front and 325/25R21 on the rear.
It looks like the 2013 Geneva Motor Show will bring together not only the most impressive supercars, but also a pretty impressive lineup of tuned cars. The latest announcement has been made by the German tuner AC Schnitzer, which will unveil a pretty impressive 640d Gran Coupe equipped with a M Performance package.
Under the hood, the tuner managed to increase the standard 313 horsepower to 360 horsepower. For this the tuner modified the ECU and installed a new exhaust system with twin sports rear silencer with chromed "Sports Trim" tailpipes.
For the exterior, the tuner prepared a pretty impressive aerodynamic kit that includes a carbon front spoiler and a carbon rear diffuser, a new front spoiler with optional chrome line set and a rear skirt extension. There is also a chromed front grille and bonnet vents, and a rear skirt protective film. The car will sit on a set of wheels sized 19 or 20 inches, depending on the customer’s wishes.
Helping drag the Bimmer to a halt is a set of eight-piston high-performance brake calipers.
For the interior, AC Schnitzer is offering a "Black Line" aluminum cover for the i-Drive system controller, aluminum footrests and pedals, and velour floor mats.
BMW has officially unveiled the third generation M6, in both coupe and convertible versions. The M6 badge was first used back in 1987 and since then, the model has evolved into a powerful, athletic, focused, luxurious and efficient sports car. On the US market, the M6 Coupe was the last to arrive and went on sale in the late Summer of 2012 as a 2013 model.
As many rumors suggested, the new M6 has dropped its V10 engine in favor of a new 4.4-liter V8 equipped with M TwinPower Turbo Technology. Despite its lower capacity, the new V8 develops a total of 560 HP (an increase of 5 HP over the previous model) and a peak torque of 500 lb-ft. The engine is mated to a newly developed 7-speed double-clutch transmission designed to handle the high torque and high revving nature of the engine.
The new M6 Coupe will be immediately recognized as an elegant and sporty 6-Series, but it gets the usual M styling design cues that make it look sportier and more powerful. These elements include wider air intakes, stunningly contoured headlight units, the newly designed M kidney grille, which bears an "M6" badge, and powerful 19-inch M light-alloy wheels.
UPDATE 11/20/2012: BMW USA has transformed the M6 into the most interesting project: an M print. Using very interesting technology and Matt Mullins, Chief Driving Instructor of the BMW Performance Driving School, behind the wheel, the M6 was used to create unique autographs for M fans nationwide. BMW is buying itself a little more time to organize intel about the next generation BMW M3 sports sedan by presenting a concept version of the sports sedan at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show before unleashing the production model later in 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Apparently, all of the intense testing the M3 has undergone is still not enough to satiate BMW’s need for releasing a model that will meet or exceed the expectations of the market. Either that, or BMW is just trying to build up an exceptional amount of momentum before letting us have it.
The concept version of the BMW M3 should still offer a close look at the future M3’s general appearance and mechanical package which has been in the speculation ring for months. The next M3 is said to feature the same design language as the larger M5, including a front bumper with large cooling ducts, a lightly altered kidney grille, wider front fenders with the signature air vents, a subtle trunk-lip spoiler, and a special M exhaust system.
The area in which the most rumors have circulated is the engine. Rumors have been going around stating that the next M3 will feature a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine with an output of about 450 HP, making it more powerful and more fuel efficient than the current M3. Whether this is with the help of a bi-turbo or a tri-turbo is still unconfirmed.
The future BMW M3 will be offered exclusively as a sedan and will show up on US dealerships in the winter of 2014.
With almost one month before its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show, BMW has unveiled the first details on the first generation M6. The Convertible version will be the first to arrive on the US market, with sale to begin in June 2012.
The new generation M6 Convertible will be distinguished by a more powerful and sportier appearance, thanks to its special M design cues elements: a newly designed M kidney grille featuring an "M6" badge, larger air dam and lower bumper and a new set of 19-inch M light-alloy wheels. The interior gets a newly developed M sports seats, Merino extended leather upholstery, door sills with "M6" lettering, an M driver’s footrest and exclusive carbon fiber interior trim. The car’s roof is made from natural color Carbon Fiber Composite and comes painted ina dark color. It can be operated at speeds of up to 25 mph and takes 19 seconds to open and 24 seconds to close again.
In terms of power, BMW has opted to transfer the turbocharged 4.4 liter V8 - first used in the M5 - over to the M6. This engine will deliver a total of 560 HP (a 5 HP over the previous generation) and a peak torque of 500 lbs-ft. The engine will be mated to a a newly developed 7-speed double-clutch transmission and will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, while top speed is limited to 155 mph.
UPDATE 04/19/2012: BMW USA has placed online the configurator for the M6 Convertible. This gives you the possibility to customize the sports convertible the way you like it: you can choose the exterior and the interior colors, the wheels and of course the optional packages.

Concept cars have always been an integral part of any major auto show. These events give automakers an opportunity to showcase some of the most outlandish and over-the-top vehicles we’ll ever see.
Now that doesn’t mean that these concepts will translate to production. Actually, very few do with most of them forgotten long after the auto show ends.
At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, we saw a lot of concept cars that piqued our curiosities one way or the other. Some were fancy, some were strange, and some just completely blew us away.
In the end, the concept cars at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show delivered on the promise of providing some edge and flavor to the proceedings. On the list below, we’ll show you all of the concepts that caught our eye, and if we do say so ourselves, some of those are just too awesome to not be sent to the production line.

It seems that G-Power is not the only tuner who has shown interest in the new BMW M5. AC Schnitzer headed to the 2012 Geneva Motor Show with a new ACS5 Sport package based on the M5 with plenty of exterior and interior modifications, as well as a power boost.
The ACS5 Sport will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine tuned to deliver a total of 620 HP and a peak torque of 531 lbs-ft. That’s a little less than the G-Power’s 640 HP, but is still an increase of 60 HP and 30 lbs-ft.
The exterior package includes a carbon front spoiler, chromed front grille, rear roof spoiler, rear spoiler, and carbon rear diffuser. The ACS5 Sports sits on a new set of 21" forged alloy rims combined with an AC Schnitzer suspension spring kit. The car comes painted in a very cool "Magic Blue" paint job combined with silver livery. For the interior, the tuner is offering trims and steering wheel finished in "Magic Blue," aluminum
pedals with matching foot rest, and velour floor mats.
