2020 BMW Concept i4
Despite the Geneva Motor Show getting canceled at the last minute due to the coronavirus scare, most of the automakers decided to unveil the vehicles at the same timelines, although on digital platforms.
BMW revealed the i4 Concept that previews what we can expect from the production version slated to release in 2021. To put it simply, the i4 will essentially be a 4 Series Gran Coupe with an electric powertrain. Will people accept it based on its looks?
2020 ALPINA B7 xDrive Sedan
Alpina and BMW have a long history. The former has been tuning Bimmers for over five decades and even provides graphic packages, different alloy designs, etc. Realizing the rising demand of Alpina-tuned cars, BMW started selling them through its own dealerships in the U.S. This time, BMW and Alpina have worked on the former’s big-face flagship luxury sedan to create an explosive monster known as the 2020 Alpina B7. The 2020 B7 was unveiled earlier this month in Palm Springs and is the sixth-generation luxury model from Alpina.
2020 BMW X4 M
The 2020 BMW X4 M is the high-performance version of BMW’s compact coupe SUV. Unveiled alongside its 2020 X3 M sibling, the X4 M arrived five years after the nameplate was introduced in 2014. A bit late to the party, but BMW finally offers a competitor for the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 Coupe. Based on the second-generation X4 that was unveiled for the 2018 model year, the X4 M shares underpinnings and technology with the X3 M. It features BMW’s brand-new S58 engine, a twin-turbo, 3.0-liter inline-six that will also power the next-generation M3 and M4 models. The X4 M is, together with the X3 M, the first M vehicle that’s available with two power ratings at the same time. The X4 M is the base model with 473 horsepower, while the X4 M Competition acts as the range-topping version with 503 horsepower.
2020 BMW X3 M
The 2020 BMW X3 M is the high-performance version of the company’s popular compact SUV. The M-badged crossover arrived a full 16 years after the X3 made its debut and enables BMW to compete with beefed-up versions of the Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5. Alongside the X3 M, BMW also introduced a higher-spec Competition model. The highly anticipated X3 M arrived to put an end to more than a decade of speculation. Rumored ever since the crossover arrived in showrooms back in 2003, the X3 M is finally here to take on the Mercedes-AMG GLC63. The Competition model boasts a bit more power and extra standard features, which places it in the same league with the AMG GLC63 S.
2018 BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe
Introduced in 1989 as a replacement for the 6 Series, the 8 Series became BMW’s largest and most luxurious coupe yet. Produced in a little over 30,000 units until 1999, it’s among the rarest and most desirable Bimmers ever built. Come 2018, and the flagship two-door is set to return alongside an M8 version (for the very first time) and a race-spec model. But BMW isn’t stopping here. With some nameplates already available in Gran Coupe trim, the 8 Series will also get a four-door coupe model. The vehicle was confirmed at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, where the German firm showcased the Concept M8 Gran Coupe.
Designed to offer "a look ahead to the most exotic and alluring variant of the new BMW 8 Series," the Concept M8 Gran Coupe also previews a car that "will take over as the new flagship model" for the lineup. This means it will sit atop the 7 Series full-size, and even though it won’t be necessarily larger than the four-door, it will definitely cost more and have more exclusive features inside and out. And, despite the "flagship" description, it won’t take over the 7 Series’ battle with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the Audi A8. Instead, it will compete against the Mercedes-Benz CLS and Audi A7. The concept also suggests that the 8 Series Gran Coupe will be joined by a sportier M8 version.

2018 BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow
Introduced in 2015, the BMW M2 Coupe is the spiritual successor of the cool 1M Coupe and considered by many to be a more exciting proposition to the M4. And, the enthusiasts are pretty much right, as not only is the M2 is an authentic embodiment of the rear-wheel-drive, M-badged sports car, it’s also a bit more compact than the M4 and closer to the original M3 as far as dimensions go. With more than 12,000 units sold in its first full year on the market, the M2’s success is unquestionable. Now, BMW is celebrating just that with a special edition model called Black Shadow.
Not to be confused with the iconic Shadowline package, the M2 Edition Black Shadow is essentially a "triple black" treatment for the compact coupe. There’s absolutely no chrome on this car, with every single bright element reduced to either matte or glossy black. Oh, and there’s some carbon finish here and there too, which makes the Black Shadow a really menacing, yet somehow elegant car to look at. The kind that Darth Vader would drive on a regular basis.

2017 Alpina B4 S Biturbo
When you line up the number of tuning firms who specialize on BMWs, you’ll inevitably come across Alpina, which technically started as an aftermarket company before turning into a manufacturer of its own after years of close ties with BMW. In fact, Alpina and BMW have become partners of sorts since most of the former’s models are integrated into the latter’s production lines, including the Alpina B7, which rolls from the same facility as the BMW 7 Series. That’s how far this relationship has come, and the German Ministry of Transport even recognizes it as such, designating Alpina as an automaker instead of an aftermarket specialist.
History lesson aside, Alpina is headed to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with a number of its latest creations, one of which is the B4 S Biturbo, an interpretation of the 4 Series according to the specifications of Alpina. Like most models to come out of Alpina, the B4 S Biturbo is technically a 4 Series, and the process by which Alpina uses to create the car isn’t too different from what expert BMW tuners like AC Schnitzer do. So while it is technically an automaker, Alpina’s methods are still closer to AC Schnitzer than it is to BMW, hence the approach we’ve taken here.
The car itself is what you’d come to expect from Alpina. Like the B7 before it, the B4 S Biturbo is loaded with upgrades on all sections of the car, right down to the aerodynamic body kit and the engine upgrade that puts the B4 S Turbo’s power right up there with the BMW M4.
All told, the B4 S Biturbo is a car that’s worth our attention, not only because it’s an Alpina-badged model that’s based on the BMW 4 Series, but more importantly, because it checks off a lot of boxes on what we’d like to see the aftermarket world do to the 4 Series in the first place.

2017 BMW 5 Series Touring with M Performance Parts
In a world often taken up by personalization divisions and aftermarket options, it’s easy to miss out on the benefits of something as simple as an add-on package. They don’t get the flashy reviews or the top-of-the-page headlines, but there is an argument that they’re just as effective in giving life vehicle. BMW’s M Performance Parts is a good example of that since it’s often overshadowed by tuning companies and Bimmer’s Individual personalization division. But as it showed in the 5 Series Touring variant of the mid-sized luxury sedan, there’s more to the M Performance Parts than meets the eye.
The treatment itself is getting some well-deserved shine at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show where BMW will be displaying the 5 Series Touring with M Performance Parts in all its glory. It might be hard to recognize the difference, but rest assured, the package comes with an assortment of sporty goodies meant to drive up the personality of the 5 Series Touring. Starting with the exterior and moving to the interior and the engine (yep, there’s an optional power kit included) the M Performance Parts lives up to its name by turning the 5 Series Touring into a veritable M car.
It may not carry the iconic M badge, but that’s just a matter of cosmetics. The BMW 5 Series Touring with M Performance Parts looks and acts like an M car. That in itself is worth giving the station wagon the attention it deserves.

2017 BMW M6 Convertible by G-Power
The BMW M6 Convertible may suffer from a lack of identity – is it a sports car, a luxury convertible, or both? But nobody can deny that the German automaker has done the car some favors by blending an aggressive design with serious performance capabilities, bulk and mass notwithstanding. That two-hit combination has propelled the M6 Convertible into a legitimate choice in its segment, and the public has responded in kind, giving the car enough appeal to stand on its own amidst a cacophony of challengers waiting to knock it down a peg or two. The M6 Convertible’s appeal isn’t just limited to customers; it’s also become an attractive project for aftermarket tuners, a lot of whom have taken to building tuning programs for the two-door drop-top. One such tuner, G-Power, is even bringing one to the year’s biggest auto show in Geneva.
As you can imagine, G-Power’s program for the M6 Convertible is getting some prime real estate space in the venue. That in itself is a pretty big deal considering the wave of debuts and unveilings that will take place later this week. To its credit, G-Power is bringing the goods too, packing the M6 Convertible with power and performance upgrades that befit the tuner’s status as one of the best business.
The results are what you’d expect from a tuner like G-Power. Think the M6 Convertible’s standard output of 560 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque are enough? Well, think what a tuner that’s known for record-setting performance numbers is capable of. After all, this is the same company that’s responsible for developing the fastest BMW sedan and the fastest BMW 1 Series, among other notable projects. This latest program for the M6 Convertible is just the latest in a long line of impressive kits. Who knows, it might even set a record of its own once put through its paces.

2017 BMW M240i ACL2S by AC Schnitzer
Noted BMW tuner AC Schnitzer has been in the tuning game for three decades and the company is preparing a special edition package to commemorate its 30th anniversary. And it’s only fitting with the 2017 Geneva Motor Show just around the corner. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the ACL2S, an evolved version of the ACL2 Concept the tuner showcased at last year’s Geneva show. Befitting its status as a legitimate anniversary piece, the ACL2S will not only be limited to just 30 units, but just as important, it was developed to encompass the tuner’s storied history as the quintessential tuning shop for all models wearing the BMW badge.
There’s a lot to piece through here, but it is quite obvious from the photos that AC Schnitzer has another winner on its hands. Not that people need to be convinced of that, but for those who are curious to know why the ACL2S is as good a celebratory special edition as there is in the market today, evidence can be found under the M240i’s hood where Bimmer’s new 3.0-liter straight-six B58 engine resides. Even with a few extra cc’s and a slightly larger turbocharger, the German tuner still put in the work to get the output up to 400 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Don’t look now, but those numbers actually slot comfortably between the BMW M2 and the BMW M4.
Beyond the impressive power gains, the ACL2S is also defined by extensive upgrades on the car’s exterior and interior, all of which come with the full scope of AC Schnitzer’s patented aftermarket expertise.
The attractive 30th-anniversary special edition M240i will no doubt turn some heads when it makes its official debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. From there, it should be a mad dash to scoop up one of the 30 units that AC Schnitzer is going to make available to the public.

2017 BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow Edition
It’s easy to see why some people have become weary of BMW’s penchant to dress up the i8 in special edition wardrobes when the common call for the German automaker is to drop some serious updates on the car. After all, the long-promised i8 Spyder has not yet arrived and a next-generation model isn’t making its debut anytime soon. Heck, there was even one point when talk of a “hotter” i8 – reportedly called the i8S – was in everyone’s radar. Nothing has come out of it though and the restless have become even more angsty. In the meantime, BMW seems to be content in dropping one special edition i8 after another and the latest to get that treatment is the i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow Edition.
In truth, the i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow Edition was announced together with the i8 Protonic Frozen Black Edition. You might even say that with the exception of the body color that’s carried over into their actual names, both special edition i8s are somewhat identical to one another.
BMW’s approach with the i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow Edition is simple and straight to the point, as it has been for other Protonic special editions that the German automaker has released in the past. Remember the i8 Protonic Red Edition and the i8 Protonic Dark Silver Edition from last year? Lump in the the i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow’s tag-team partner, the Protonic Frozen Black Edition, and you can see a familiar template being followed here.
Yes, the family of special edition BMW i8s is growing and until we get to see some concrete movement in the expansion of the model’s line-up, we might have to settle ourselves with the understanding that for now, the scope of BMW’s expansion plans for the i8 will largely be focused on more special edition models in the near future, possibly of the “Protonic” persuasion.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing since there’s still a segment of the population that get excited over these models. But the novelty is also wearing thin for some people and as creative as these special edition i8s are, the time when people we’re falling over their feet in excitement every time BMW released one has clearly passed.
There’s a good chance that the BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Yellow Edition will still attract a lot of people. But don’t be surprised if just as many start jumping off the bandwagon.

2017 BMW M760Li xDrive
Say hello to the Bavarian’s latest uber-luxury ground-bound missile. Based on the sixth-generation 7 Series, this velocity limo walks and talks like an M7, but an M7 it is not. Maybe it’s not quite hardcore enough to bear the M Division nomenclature, but either way, there’s no doubt this thing brings the goods when it comes to going fast. Inside, you’ll find a capacious cabin space dripping in luxury and technology, while the exterior is subtle and refined. But the real centerpiece lies under the hood, where you’ll find BMW’s most powerful production V-12 ever created.
In fact, the M760Li xDrive offers with the first 12-cylinder engine with M Performance twin-turbo power adders, which is more than appropriate for BMW’s latest flagship luxury sedan. So then - this thing promises to deliver world-class style and comfort, bleeding-edge tech, and eye-widening performance. Let’s see what makes it tick.

2017 BMW 740e iPerformance
Gasoline/electric hybrids are becoming more widely accepted these days, and even luxury automakers are stepping up their games. Audi, Lexus, Porsche, and of course, BMW all have hybrid options that range in cost and levels of luxury. Though it might not make financial sense to purchase an expensive luxury car just to save a few dollars at the pump, many European city centers are banning non-hybrid vehicle use, making well-to-do folks in need of something classier than a Nissan Leaf.
Enter the BMW 740e iPerformance. Now before jumping into the details, it’s important to understand BMW’s logic with the iPerformance badging. Just like its M Performance lineup – standard BMW models with the performance upgrades from the famed M division, iPerformance vehicles will be based on standard series-production BMWs, but will have some i Division electrification performance added in. Just as the M235i isn’t as sporty as the M3, the iPerformance vehicles won’t be as “electrified” or as efficient as honest i Division vehicles like the i3 or i8.
This new iPerformance line is debuting here, on the 7-Series. BMW will offer two flavors – the 740e iPerformance and the 740Le iPerformance. The 740Le is an extended length model that offers the option of BMW’s xDrive AWD system. We’ll be concentrating on the 740e iPerformance in this review.
The 2017 BMW 740e xDrive iPerformance is now in production and will arrive at U.S. dealerships in August of 2016 starting at $89,100.

2016 AC Schnitzer ACL2 Concept
AC Schnitzer is known for making statements in some of the biggest auto shows in the business. Over the years, it has used shows like the Geneva Motor Show to introduce provocative tuning projects. Now the German tuner is bringing an incredible concept vehicle to Geneva that has already left the Internet in a frenzy.
The concept vehicle is called the ACL2. It’s a rather simple name for a concept that’s anything but simple. It’s based on the BMW M 235i, arguably the least heralded member of the BMW’s M family. But don’t tell that to AC Schnitzer because the company performed what I can only describe as some serious tuning magic.
It’s too early to tell if this concept will steal the show at Geneva, but judging by how everyone has been reacting to leaked videos of the car being transported to Geneva, it’s a safe bet that a lot of people will be talking about the ACL2 well after Geneva’s closing day. So get the pens and cameras ready, folks. The ACL2 is already causing a ruckus as it prepares to take the Geneva Motor Show by storm.

2016 BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition
Officially launched in the U.S. in August of 2014, the BMW i8 has been met with huge enthusiasm, selling nearly 3,000 units as of December 2015. The hybrid sports car met its first customers at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where BMW also auctioned a special-edition model named after the event and equipped with several unique features inside and out. The car was sold for $825,000, six times the retail price of thei8. Now, BMW is preparing yet another special-edition model, this time around to be showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It’s called the Protonic Red Edition and will enter production starting July 2016.
Much like the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance edition, the Protonic Red i8 features a bespoke exterior and an custom interior with colors and stitching not available on the regular model. However, unlike the $825,000 sports car, the Protonic Red will have a sticker closer to the i8’s staring price and will be built in significantly more examples. Details as to how much it will cost and how many will be built aren’t yet available, but BMW said that the Protonic Red Edition will be available until the end of 2016.

It’s good to be the BMW 4 Series these days. It’s only been a few months since the model was released and already, it’s getting a lot of attention from racing teams and aftermarket companies. So it’s no surprise that theGeneva Motor Show was the scene for some tuners to showcase their first offerings for the 4 Series. Technically, BMW tuner extraordinaire Alpina already presented its program for the BMW 4 Series Coupe at the Tokyo Motor Show last year.
But nobody said anything about the 4 Series Convertible, right?
So here it is, ladies and gentlemen: the Alpina B4 Biturbo Convertible.
Befitting its philosophy of tuning sophistication, Alpine put in serious work on the 4 Series Convertible, turning it into one of its own to go with its distinctive B4 Bi-Turbo name.
This all looks and sounds pretty impressive to us, but that’s no shock from Alpina.

The 5-Series GT is one of the most unsuccessful models BMW has ever offered. However, the company is bound and determined to get the GT formula right and has now expanding this option to new generation 3-Series.
The difference between the unsuccessful 5-Series GT and the new 3-Series GT is that the latter will drop the twin-door hatch design in favor of a normal one piece hatch. It will also be 7.87 inches longer than the standard model and offer the added bonus of more headroom due to the shooting brake layout. The four-door coupe designed body will combine a set of raised, sliding rear seats with a high lifting tailgate that should make accessing the larger cargo area very trouble-free. This formula may very well make the car a bit more successful than the 5-Series GT.
The official debut will be made next month at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

There was no way Swiss tuner, Sportec, was going to miss the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And why would they considering that, given it’s right in their own backyard.
Presenting its new program for the BMW 135iM, Sportec treated it to a comprehensive performance upgrade that has made the fierce sports hatchback even more powerful than it already is from the factory. That’s a huge task, especially since the stock model’s 3.0-liter inline-six engine already boasts of 320 horsepower. But thanks to Sportec, that output has now been bumped up to 380 horsepower with an improved 0-to-100 km/h (62 mph) time of just 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 171 mph, significantly faster than the 155 mph the stock 135i comes with.
Complementing the massive power raise are many new components fitted on the sports hatch, including: a new flap exhaust system with titanium tailpipes and a set of lightweight 19-inch forged SP10 alloy wheels.
It’s not the sexiest tuning program at Geneva but for sheer purpose and thrills, this Sportec-tuned BMW 135i just got a lot scarier.
The Audi SQ5 may not have a direct competitor from BMW, but Alpina has unveiled the XD3 Biturbo - a tuning kit that seems to be a direct response to Audi’s model - at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
The XD3 is based on the 3-liter straight-six-cylinder version of the X3 and, with significant updates made under the hood, it adds plenty of extra horsepower to the engine’s standard output. The engine is coupled to a new eight-speed automatic transmission and numerous other updates have also been made to the SUV’s chassis.
Along with upgrading the engine’s characteristics, Alpina engineers also built an aerodynamic kit that includes a new front spoiler with integrated air intakes. On the rear, Alpina adds new elliptical double-ended tailpipes integrated into an Alpina-designed rear valance.

Hamann says that its new program for the BMW M5, called Mi5Sion, is the most ferocious M5 of all time.
While that may ring of hyperbole to some people, we actually think that the German tuner has a point. Sure, the program has no performance upgrades, but in terms of looks, that’s one vicious looking M5.
In order to achieve the completely redefined dynamic of the M5, Hamann dug deep in their bag of tricks to fit the sports saloon with a bevy of new components. The front spoiler is where a lot of the modifications took place. There are still some of the standard M5 features like the deep front splitter, the LEDs, and the large air intakes. But Hamann took it a step further by adding a new dual kidney-shaped grille that covers the headlights completely, making for a menacing and angry-looking M5.
In addition, Hamann also extended the width of the M5 by 30 mm (1.18 inches) on each side while also dressing it up with carbon-fiber side skirts, door fixtures, sporty wings and broad rear wheel housings. On therear, a new integrated diffuser accommodates the pair of stainless-steel tailpipes while a rear spoiler was installed to provide better downforce for the M5. Rounding out the exterior modifications is a set of 21-inch forged wheels wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R tires.
Moving to the interior, the Mi5Sion M5 was treated to plenty of leather in the same Alpine White finish of the exterior with touches of carbon embossing, giving the interior a distinctive look that fits right in with the aggressive overall appearance of the program.
Swiss tuner, Mansory, may be the king of the over-the-top aftermarket programs, but Hamann’s new "Mirr6r"program for the BMW M6 may just give Mansory a run for its money.
To say that the Mirr6r program is shiny can be a little bit of understatement. The chrome finish on the body is definitely eye catching, if not glaring when parked under the sun. But that’s not the only thing special about the Mirr6r program because Hamann went to great lengths to ratchet up the aggressive look of the luxury sports car. Notice the new bonnet on the M6 that was installed by Hamann. That one, like the rest of the new components the German tuner added to the M6, is made of carbon fiber.
The program also gives the M6 a wider look, extending the width of the car by 40 mm (1.57 inches) to go with a more pronounced stance. Hamann also did a great job in re-sculpting the M6 in such a way that its lines flow across the side skirts with its air intakes all the way to the rear spoiler, including the integrated carbon Venturi diffuser. And for added downforce, a new carbon rear spoiler was introduced. Rounding out the exterior modifications is a new set of 21-inch ultra-light forged wheels with a choice of either “Edition Race” or “Unique Forged Formula” and wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R tires to ensure top-caliber grip, steering precision and cornering ability.
Inside, Hamann used numerous leather Alcantara applications to refine the cabin space of the M6 while also adding aluminum pedals and foot rests. As an added option, the German tuner can also install a host of optional accessories, including illuminated trims in chrome.
No engine upgrades have been announced yet but Hamann said that it’s still tweaking the engine’s performance. So stay tuned for that one.
With MS Design celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Austrian tuning company has prepared a pretty fabulous program for the BMW 3-Series, called the B36.
They describe the program as “Usain Bolt in a designer suit.” Hyperbole notwithstanding, the program did do a good job combining dynamic and elegant styling with an extra bump in performance and power.
Outside, the B36 program features an aerodynamic package that includes new front and rear aprons, side skirts, fender flares, and a rear spoiler lip. Taken together, the new components do a good job highlighting the 3-Series’ curves, and further complemented by a set of 20-inch light-alloy wheels.
Moving to the interior, MS Design opted for a high-quality Ultra Suede interior, dressing up the front seats, rear seat, side panels and the center armrest in some pretty classy albeit dust-collecting suede finish.
Finally, the extra boost in power MS Design gave to the 3-Series allowed the sports car to improve its output from 306 horsepower to 360 horsepower. According to the tuner, the B36 program will be available later this year just in time for its 30th anniversary.
The program looks like a stand out. Our only question is: does it come with a cake and a party hat?
