2022 BMW i4 - This Is The German Automaker’s Answer To The Tesla Model 3
BMW unveiled the i4 digitally at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. A year later, the company has finally debuted the model along with its crossover sibling, the iX. The 2022 BMW i4 will be offered in two different trims, one of them being a performance version that makes over 500 horses. The i4 will launch Stateside in the first quarter of 2022 and will come with a starting price tag of $55,400.
2022 BMW i4 M
It’s been just about a month since BMW launched the new M3 and the M4. While the bucktooth grille became the talk of the town, there was one other piece of news around that time that didn’t receive as much attention as it should have. BMW Performance Division’s CEO, Markus Flasch, said that M’s first fully electric car will arrive next year and it will be based on the i4. When you have a confirmation from the automaker, it doesn’t take long for the car to be spotted doing test runs, and the same has happened here, too.
New spy shots have appeared that show the i4 M draped in black and white sheets to avoid people from guessing what it is, but hey, who are we kidding here?
2022 BMW i4
Back in 2014, BMW took a very confident step into the world of the EV, officially launching its “Project i” sub-brand with the i3. Following hot on its heels was the remarkable i8 hybrid coupe, which garnered the German brand oodles of green cred for its futuristic aesthetic and advanced powertrain. These days, BMW says it has big plans for its electrified lineup, with a total of 12 battery-electrics planned by 2025, plus 13 hybrids as well. One of the most exciting prospects is dubbed to i4, which promises four-door practicality, high-end luxury, extraterrestrial styling, and next-generation technology.
Update 2/27/2020: The BMW i4 Prototype with a RWD configuration was caught playing in the snow just a week before the i4 Concept is set to make its debut.
