BMW has just unveiled the new, seventh-generation 7 Series. Completely new from the ground up, the main highlight of the new 7 Series range is the fully-electric i7. 2021 BMW 4 Series Track Review: Sharper Than Ever
The first-generation 4 Series still looks good to this day. It’s even better to drive, thanks in particular to the 50:50 weight distribution between the two axles and BMW’s affinity for a driver-centric experience - and by that, I don’t mean just the fact that the cockpit points every button, knob, or screen at whoever is sitting behind the wheel.
That genuine appetite for spirited driving is still present in the new 2021 BMW 4 Series, albeit wrapped up in a polarizing package. What I’m really trying to say is that this book should under no circumstances be judged by its cover. That would be a mistake.
2020 BMW iX3
Like most automakers out there, BMW announced plans to add a large number of electrified models, but while some companies are already offering a handful of EVs and hybrids, BMW doesn’t have much to offer beyond the i3 electric hatchback and the i8 hybrid sports car. But that’s about to change soon, as BMW developed a new-generation eDrive platform that will underpin a number of vehicles in the future. The new drivetrain made its debut in the iX3 Concept, which previews a production model based on the familiar X3 crossover.
Showcased at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, the iX3 is a mildly revised X3 on the outside. This is a sign that BMW wants its electric lineup to be familiar to company enthusiasts and it’s a hint that upcoming EVs will share design cues with the conventional Bimmers instead of getting their own unique styling, like the i3. Specs and performance details are slim as of this writing, but BMW promises an innovative drivetrain layout, an output of at least 270 horsepower, and mileage of at least 400 km (249 miles). A prototype of the production model was already spotted in the wild, so it may be unveiled early next year. Let’s find out more in the speculative review below.

2020 BMW X6 M
The 2020 BMW X6 M is the high-performance version of the third-generation coupe-style SUV. Just like the X5 M, it features a more aggressive exterior design with new options and a lot more technology inside the cabin. Thanks to new driver assist tech, the X6 M is a semi-autonomous vehicle in certain scenarios and it can park by itself. The really big news is the beefed-up engine, now capable of 600 horsepower. But BMW also offers a more powerful variant with the Competition badge that generates 617 horsepower. The new two-model lineup goes right after the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe, also available in two flavors. Let’s find out more about that in the review below.
2020 BMW X5 M
The 2020 BMW X5 M is the range-topping version of the fourth-generation X5 SUV. Unveiled in 2019, it’s the most powerful and advanced version of the midsize hauler. Sportier than ever design-wise and fitted with BMW latest tech, including semi-autonomous drive, the 2020 X5 M hides a twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V-8 under the hood. Rated at 600 horsepower, it’s a bit more potent than the old engine. But BMW also offers a 617-horsepower model under the Competition badge. 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
The 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is a four-door coupe version of the second-generation 2 Series. Essentially a smaller alternative to the 4 Series Gran Coupe, the 2020 2 Series Gran Coupe is the very first four-door version of BMW’s smallest two-door coupe yet. It’s also the first four-door model this small that’s available globally, after the release of the China-only 1 Series Sedan in 2017. Although it runs on the same underpinnings as the 1 Series, the 2020 2 Series Gran Coupe sports a unique exterior design that combines a three-box layout with specific details front and rear. Its interior layout and the technology is, however, identical to the 1 Series. The 2020 2 Series Gran Coupe is aimed at the Mercedes-Benz CLA, but it also competes against the Audi A3 Sedan.
2020 BMW X6
The 2020 BMW X6 is the third-generation version of the coupe-styled crossover. Unveiled less than a year after the fourth-generation, 2019 X5 broke cover, the 2020 X6 shares much of its design with the midsize SUV. Essentially identical to the 2019 X5 up front, the 2020 X6 stands out thanks to its coupe-style roof and hunchback rear section. As before, the 2020 X6 also shares underpinnings with its X5-badged sibling.
A competitor for the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, the 2020 X6 boasts a sportier design, BMW’s latest technology, and a range of upgraded or new engines. Both gasoline and diesel mills are available, but the oil burners won’t make it to the U.S. More about that, as well as all the new features available, in the review below.
2020 BMW 1 Series
The 2019 BMW 1 Series, also known as the F40, is the third-generation version of BMW’s smallest vehicle yet. Launched in 2019, the F40-generation 1 Series is the first of its kind to feature a front-wheel-drive architecture, as BMW ditched the RWD platform it has been using since 2004. Now underpinned by the UKL2 architecture borrowed from Mini, the 1 Series is available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The F40 1 Series replaces a highly dated model in a market that already includes a highly advanced Mercedes-Benz A-Class and the relatively old Audi A3. BMW has yet to announce whether the new 1 Series is coming to the U.S., but chances are we won’t get this generation either. Let’s find out more about the brand-new BMW 1 Series in the review below.
2019 BMW X5
The 2019 BMW X5 has been completely redesigned for 2019 with a new, revitalized exterior look, all-new interior, tons of new technology, and even more power than before. At the time of launch, it will be offered in four different trim levels that include xDrive40i (replaces the 35i,) the xDrive50i, xDrive30d, and the M50d.
All models come standard with next-gen tech like BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, larger head up display, cooled and heated cup holders, and ambient interior lighting. And, to really top things off, it’s a seven-seater with extra legroom. No good deed goes unpunished, though, as it looks like cargo room does suffer a bit.
The “SkyLounge” panorama glass roof is said to have as many as 15,000 illuminated colors. Wheel offerings range anywhere between 18 and 22-inches and an off-road package will add a special locking differential in the rear. Gasoline engines range between 340 and 462 horsepower while diesel engines range between 265 and 400 horsepower. The new, 2019 BMW X5 should go on sale in late 2018.

2019 BMW X7
The BMW X7 is the company’s newest and largest SUV yet. First confirmed in 2014, the X7 arrived in 2018 as BMW’s flagship hauler. It slots above the popular X5 and competes against the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the Cadillac Escalade, and the Land Rover Range Rover. The X7 joins six other SUVs to complete a crossover lineup that ranges from subcompact to full-size models.
When BMW joined the SUV market with the X5 back in 1999, little did we know that the German manufacturer will become such an important player in this segment. But in a little more than a decade, the Bavarian brand has launched no fewer than four different crossovers. Come 2018, and a flagship X7 joins the market to allow BMW to enter the full-size market. The X7 is the fifth BMW to be produced in the company’s U.S. facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina, joining the X3, X4, X5, and X6.

2019 BMW 3 Series
Unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the G20 is the seventh generation of the iconic BMW 3 Series. It replaces the seven-year-old F30 model and introduces a new design language, state-of-the-art technology, and updated engines.
Borrowing features seen on recently introduced models like the 5 Series sedan and the X5 SUV, the 3 Series looks sportier than ever and it’s finally on par with its competitors in the technology department. It continues to feature four- and six-cylinder engines, but for the time being there aren’t any diesels to pick from. However, BMW confirmed that both oil burners and hybrids are underway. The Germans claim that "no single model has embodied the concept of the Ultimate Driving Machine better than the latest BMW 3 Series." Let’s find out if it’s true or not in the review below.
2019 BMW M5 Competition Package
Introduced in 1972, the BMW 5 Series didn’t receive its first M package until 1985. That’s 13 long years! But the M5 has been offered ever since and it’s now considered one of the most iconic performance sedan on the market. Starting 2014, BMW began offering the Competition Package, an update that increased output and made the sedan a tad quicker from 0 to 60 mph. The previous M5 Competition Package had almost 600 horsepower, but the new M5 is just as powerful without the upgrade. Come 2018 and BMW launched a new Competition Package model.
Much like its predecessor, the Competition Package adds new features inside and out and inject a bit more power under the hood. The upgrade is far from overwhelming, but it gives customers access to a slightly more aggressive exterior and enhanced performance that takes the M5 closer to the bonkers Mercedes-AMG E63 S. For the first time ever, the M5 is quicker than the most powerful version of the E-Class, despite offering significantly less torque. 2019 BMW M2 Competition
Revealed in October 2015, the BMW M2 Coupe turned out to be a revival of the iconic BMW 1 Series M Coupe from 2012. With a more compact body and a power-to-weight ratio similar to the M4, the M2 is actually a better option for those looking for the dynamics and dimensions of the original M3. All told, there are plenty of things to get excited about with the M2 Coupe. However, as soon as it arrived, word got out that the M2 won’t be the most hardcore incarnation of the 2 Series. Original rumors talked about a CSL version of the coupe, but come 2018 and BMW launched a more powerful version of the car under the Competition name. And surprisingly enough, it’s not an addition to the lineup, but a successor to the M2 Coupe.
Although it’s actually mid-cycle facelift, the M2 Competition received a notable amount of extra features over the standard M2. The exterior is a bit more aggressive, while the interior gained new standard features and carbon-fiber trim. There’s big news under the skin too, where the M2 Competition comes with an engine based on the M4, with more oomph obviously, and upgraded chassis, cooling, brakes, and exhaust. All told, the M2 Competition is a slightly more compact M4 now, which is both good and bad for the company. Keep reading to find out why.

2018 BMW M550i xDrive – Driven
The BMW 5 Series is one of those standard-bearers people use to benchmark other full-size sedans – and for good reason. It’s been well loved by BMW loyalists and jaded journalists the world over. From its home on the German Autobahn going triple digit speeds to weaving its way through the crowded streets of third-world countries where it chauffeurs government officials and local dignitaries, the 5 has been a mainstay for decades. For 2017, BMW debuted an all-new 5 Series, complete with an updated design, an architecture shared with the larger 7 Series, and more driver tech than ever. This new seventh-generation 5 Series also boasts a new M Performance model for 2018 – the BMW M550i xDrive.
Think of the 2018 BMW M550i xDrive like this: it’s like the standard 550i, but with its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8, suspension, steering, and brakes reworked by the go-fast gurus at BMW’s M Performance division. And since the M5 variant of the seventh-generation 5 Series (G30) isn’t available till March of 2019, the M550i is the baddest 5 of the bunch. But it’s also worth pointing out the M550i xDrive and upcoming M5 have a lot in common. The two share the same V-8, though the M5’s will have more power thanks to larger turbos and a higher-flow fuel injection system, among other upgrades. The M5’s suspension will use stiffer bushings to match its sticker tires. The M5 will also have more driver control over the xDrive system and drive modes. And, of course, the M5 will have a more aggressive appearance to go with its track-focused performance. Still, the M550i is a 456-horsepower beast capable of hitting 60 mph in roughly 3.9 seconds yet treats its occupants to opulent luxury befitting a more dedicated cruiser.
