2021 BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition
It looks like we’re going through some ‘dark’ days lately. A couple of days back,Ram introduced a Black Edition package for its heavy duty trucks, and now BMW has come up with one for the X7 SUV. Called the Dark Shadow Edition, this appearance package will be limited to just 500 examples worldwide and the U.S. will receive 75 of those. BMW is asking $120,490 for this exclusive edition X7.
2020 BMW 8 Series Golden Thunder Edition
BMW is back at its special edition game with a new attire for the 8 Series. While the package looks alright and will at least prevent owners from painting their 8er’s rims gold, we cannot not wonder just how helpful will the Golden Thunder Edition prove to be for the 8 Series’ sales cause.
2019 BMW M4 Heritage Edition
As BMW prepares to give the current-generation M4 its proper swan song, the German automaker is rolling out what is probably one of the last special edition models of the F82-generation M4. It’s called the BMW M4 Heritage Edition, and while it’s offered exclusively as a coupe — the M4 Convertible doesn’t get any love — the Heritage Edition exudes all the qualities you’d want from a proper M4, right down to all the M-spec goodies included in the exterior and interior of the special edition M4. Only 750 units of the BMW M4 Heritage will be made. It’s tabbed as a global model so the U.S. market is expected to receive a healthy share of the allocation. There’s no word on how many will make it stateside — or how much each unit is going to cost — but we should expect more details on that front to arrive before production starts at the end of the year. If the M4 Heritage Edition ends up being the last special edition model that’s based on the F82-generation M4 Coupe, then consider it a proper send-off.
2019 BMW X5 Protection VR6
It’s been over 40 years since BMW released the 733i High Security. It was the German automaker’s first attempt at an armored vehicle. Little did anyone know, including BMW, that the 733i High Security would send Bavaria down the road to developing more personal protection vehicles. Fast forward to 2019 and Bimmer is still churning out fortresses on four wheels, this time with the fourth-generation BMW X5 SUV. Officially, this X5 carries the “Protection VR6” label. It’s a standard X5 by most measures, except that it also carries enough protection to keep its occupants safe from heavy ammunition attacks. The BMW X5 Protection VR6 is not for the faint of heart, folks. It’s designed for people who need all the extra protection they can get on the road for reasons that are probably best left unasked.
The BMW X7 Pickup Is a Real Thing, Folks
The BMW X7 has stunned automotive aficionados not necessarily through its sheer size, but more thanks to a larger-than-life front grille. The same grille is not proudly sitting on the nose of the revamped BMW 7 Series, so purists should know that it is not going anywhere. But that’s another story for some other time because we didn’t bring you here to judge on design cues. Well, in fact, we did. With good reason, mind you, because BMW just built a one-off pickup truck based on its X7. Yes, you read that right. There is an X7 pickup truck in this world, and it has been created to haul a motorcycle.
The 2019 BMW M140i Finale Edition Is Your Last Chance To Get This Hot Hatch With a Rear-Wheel Drive and Six Bangers Under The Hood
The BMW 1 Series is arguably one of the best hatches to drive on the market today. It has the grunt, it has the power, and it has the Bavarian DNA. The 1 Series is due for a new generation this year, however, BMW has no plans to carry the rear-wheel-drive system and the six-cylinder engine over to the next-gen. To mark the end of this journey, BMW is bidding adieu to the M140i to this unique combination with the Finale Edition model.
2019 BMW M850i xDrive Coupe First Edition
BMW is going limited edition crazy on the new 8 Series Coupe. Barely a month after introducing a one-off 8 Series Coupe that had pieces of actual meteorite on it, the German automaker is rolling the M850i xDrive Coupe First Edition. Limited to just 400 units worldwide, the M850i xDrive Coupe First Edition is the first of what is expected to be a long line of special edition 8 Series models that we can expect in the coming years. Exclusive touches to the exterior and interior are the main selling points of the M850i xDrive Coupe First Edition. That includes the all-too-important individually numbered badge in the cabin. Production of the special edition 8 Series starts between April and June 2019 at the automaker’s facility in Dingolfing, Germany. Market allocation of the 400 units, specifically those earmarked for the U.S. market, is yet to be determined.
2018 BMW M850i xDrive Coupe Night Sky Edition
In an industry where standing out is imperative, BMW has found a way to create a one-off M850i xDrive Coupe using a material that’s literally out of this world. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe Night Sky Edition, and it comes with applications made from meteoritic material grace selected controls. The one-off M850i is the creation of BMW’s Individual customization division, and it arrived in time for the first meteor shower of 2019, which took place all over the world on January 3. It’s unclear if the M850i Night Sky Edition is earmarked for a specific person. What’s clear, though, is that BMW Individual is off to a rousing start in 2019. If future projects are as interesting as this, Bimmer’s personalization division could have a huge year in its hands.
2019 BMW X5 with M Performance Parts
The fourth-generation BMW X5 is set to arrive very soon for the 2019 model year, but Bimmer is already ramping up the hype with a slew of new M Performance parts, including fresh exterior bits and new interior equipment. Off-roading- or racer-styles are both on offer.
2019 BMW X2 M35i
The BMW X2 M35i is the range-topping version of the X2 mini SUV that slots between the familiar X1 and X3. The beefed-up crossover arrived in 2018, less than a year after the X2 went into production. The X2 M35i anticipates the arrival of the Audi SQ2 and a potential competitor that Mercedes-Benz may launch soon.
Following in the footsteps of the X3, the X2 spawned an M-prepped version with higher performance. The big news here is that the M35i hides the first-ever four-cylinder engine modified by the M Performance division under the hood. The X2 M35i is also the most powerful four-cylinder model conceived by BMW so far. I guess this makes up for the fact that the M35i is just an X2 with the M Sport Package inside and out. But let’s find out more about that in the review below.
Golden BMW i3 And i8 Starlight Edition Revealed
BMW has introduced tons of special versions of its i cars - the i3 and the i8. Now, the BMW Czech Republic division revealed a new stunning pair of special editions- the BMW i3 and the i8 Starlight Edition, two models that show off the exceptional possibilities of BMW’s paint partners at Toplac. As the official partners of the BMW ColorSystem, Toplac employed painter Miroslav Spicak and designer Zoltan Matuska to create the unique BMW i3 and i8 drizzled in gold. Literally.
2018 BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow
Introduced in 2015, the BMW M2 Coupe is the spiritual successor of the cool 1M Coupe and considered by many to be a more exciting proposition to the M4. And, the enthusiasts are pretty much right, as not only is the M2 is an authentic embodiment of the rear-wheel-drive, M-badged sports car, it’s also a bit more compact than the M4 and closer to the original M3 as far as dimensions go. With more than 12,000 units sold in its first full year on the market, the M2’s success is unquestionable. Now, BMW is celebrating just that with a special edition model called Black Shadow.
Not to be confused with the iconic Shadowline package, the M2 Edition Black Shadow is essentially a "triple black" treatment for the compact coupe. There’s absolutely no chrome on this car, with every single bright element reduced to either matte or glossy black. Oh, and there’s some carbon finish here and there too, which makes the Black Shadow a really menacing, yet somehow elegant car to look at. The kind that Darth Vader would drive on a regular basis.

2018 BMW M4 Convertible Edition 30 Jahre
Back in 1988, BMW decided to chop off the roof of a BMW M3. Unthinkable at that time, the decision turned out to be a good one for Bimmer because 30 years later, it’s actually celebrating that decision with the launch of the BMW M4 Convertible Edition 30 Jahre. The M4 Convertible 30 Jahre follows a long line of models that have been given the “Jahre” treatment. For those who don’t know, “Jahre” is a German word that means “years” in English. In BMW’s case, it’s made a habit of releasing special editions of models celebrating their 30th anniversary, or as it likes to call them, 30 Jahre. The M5 got one in 2014. The M6 got one in 2016. Most recently, the 7 Series got the 30 Jahre treatment last year. Now it’s the BMW M4 Convertible’s turn, which itself is odd because the 4 Series didn’t come to existence until 2013 when it was packaged as the coupé and convertible versions of the 3 Series. Follow that thought, and you’ll realize that the M4 Convertible Edition 30 Jahre is actually a 30th-anniversary tribute to the M3 Convertible.
2018 BMW M3 CS
Introduced in 2014, the latest-generation BMW M3 set new benchmarks in the premium compact sedan segment. However, things changed when Mercedes-Benz launched the AMG C63, which unlike the Bimmer still had a V-8 engine and arrived in dealerships with significantly more power. And while the M3 fell behind the competition in terms of performance, the M4 was enabled to keep up and even raise above its rivals thanks to the GTS and CS limited-edition models. Fortunately, the M3 also received the attention it deserves in 2017 with the CS package, a club sport-style upgrade that makes it more suitable for track use, but without taking it over the top with the extreme rear wing of the GTS.
Essentially an M4 CS with the extra door and the longer rear roof, the M3 CS is a slightly more practical proposition in the CS lineup. Not only it misses the roll-cage available with the coupe, it also provides seating for up to five people, which maintains it in the family car market. Of course, no one will really buy it as a family car, but it doesn’t force customers to use it a two-seater only. More good news comes from the availability department, as the M3 CS is slated to come to the United States. On the other, production will be limited to a little over 1,000 units, with less than half set to cross the pond to North America. And much like the M4 CS, it will be significantly more expensive than the the standard M3. But more about that in the review below.

2017 BMW 7 Series Individual Black Ice Edition
BMW has released another special edition model, but again, it’s not headed to the U.S. Such a reality has become the norm for us even though it doesn’t get any easier to come to grips with. This time, the German automaker is rolling out a special edition 7 Series exclusively for the Russian market. The model goes by the name BMW 7 Series Individual Black Ice Edition, and as its name suggests, it’s dressed up in all layers and manners of black.
From a distance, the special edition 7 Series looks exactly like the kind of car that a Russian oligarch would own. The all-black look gives it business-like swag and the fact that it’s based on a 7 Series is another indication that Bimmer Russia is keen on rolling this out for the upper-echelon of Russia’s social class. In keeping with its identity, the 7er Black Ice carries plenty of exclusive features, not the least of which is the paint finish that was used in it. Apart from that, the luxury sedan also boasts of an aerodynamic kit from BMW M Sport, interior upgrades courtesy of BMW Individual, a new set of wheels, and enough of the automaker’s newest and most advanced tech features. And for vanity’s sake, there are also badges throughout the car denoting its “Black Ice” name. I suppose that at some point in the future, we’re going to get our turn and have more of these special edition models head to our soil. But now’s not our time yet, so the only thing we can do at this point is admire what other market is getting from Bimmer. And, in this case, it looks like the Russian market got itself a good one from the German automaker.

2018 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe BMW CCA Edition
The BMW 6 Series is reportedly on its way out now that BMW appears to be set on bringing back the 8 Series. It’s a bittersweet moment for fans of the 6er, especially those who have been loyal fans of the range since it was reintroduced in 2003. Fortunately, certain models of the 6 Series remain popular to this day, including a special version created by recognized BMW tuner Alpina. The model is called the BMA Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe and believe it or not; it’s been around for a few years now, receiving yearly updates like any true Bimmer model. This time, BMW and Alpina took it a step further by creating a one-of-a-kind Alpina B6 Gran Coupe, specifically for the BMW Car Club of America.
The model itself carries the obnoxiously long BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe BMW CCA Edition name. Its very existence is owed to the fact that it was built to be the grand prize for an upcoming raffle draw organized by BMW CCA. In keeping with its one-off status, the Alpina B6 BMW CCA Edition carries plenty of exclusive features, not the least of which include bespoke touches on the exterior and interior of the car. It also carries a signature Alpina paint finish, the likes of which we never get to see on any other BMW model. It’s a legitimate bespoke Alpina B6, a fitting grand prize for an event that’s also raffling off a BMW M2 and a BMW M240i, among other exciting goodies.

2017 BMW 7 Series Edition 40 Jahre
The latest-generation 7 Series came to be in 2016, just as the nameplate was preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Redesigned from the ground up on the lighter platform, the new 7 Series is far from revolutionary styling-wise, but it boasts more luxury than ever before, as well as numerous technology firsts for the brand. Lighter, quicker, more fuel efficient, and more autonomous than ever, the new 7 Series is definitely a turning point for the nameplate. Come 2017, and BMW is celebrating four decades of the 7 Series with the limited-edition 40 Jahre.
German for "40 years," the Edition 40 Jahre was conceived as a tribute to 7 Series’ rich history. Recognized as a symbol of luxury, driving pleasure, and innovations, the 7 Series is one of the company’s most mature products, and its 40-year-long history speaks for itself. The anniversary model is more than just a 7 Series with a special badge. The sedan also comes with exclusive exterior and interior design features, as well as the possibility to have the car tailored to individual customer specification at the BMW Dingolfing plant. Find out more about that below.
