2021 BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition
It looks like we’re going through some ‘dark’ days lately. A couple of days back,Ram introduced a Black Edition package for its heavy duty trucks, and now BMW has come up with one for the X7 SUV. Called the Dark Shadow Edition, this appearance package will be limited to just 500 examples worldwide and the U.S. will receive 75 of those. BMW is asking $120,490 for this exclusive edition X7.
2020 BMW X5 M Competition - Driven
With 615 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, the BMW X5 M Competition is one of the most powerful BMWs ever made, a 5,500-pound behemoth capable of going from naught to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and do it while enveloping you in a luxurious cabin blending leather and carbon fiber. We took the X5 M Competition out for a spin because we know that it shares its engine with the M5 and the M8 Competition but we wanted to find out if it also drives like BMW’s quick sedans.
When BMW came up with the X5 over two decades ago, the unique selling proposition of the first Bavarian crossover of any kind was that it offered all the benefits of an SUV - like the added practicality, the higher driving position, and off-road ability - while staying true to the BMW ethos and thus delivering that much-coveted driving pleasure. BMW even tried to create a brand-new niche with the arrival of the X5, calling it an ’SAV’ which is something that still applies to this day, with the only difference being that, over the years, the X5 did become sportier and felt more and more like a sedan able to belie its generous dimensions.
2020 BMW iX3
Like most automakers out there, BMW announced plans to add a large number of electrified models, but while some companies are already offering a handful of EVs and hybrids, BMW doesn’t have much to offer beyond the i3 electric hatchback and the i8 hybrid sports car. But that’s about to change soon, as BMW developed a new-generation eDrive platform that will underpin a number of vehicles in the future. The new drivetrain made its debut in the iX3 Concept, which previews a production model based on the familiar X3 crossover.
Showcased at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, the iX3 is a mildly revised X3 on the outside. This is a sign that BMW wants its electric lineup to be familiar to company enthusiasts and it’s a hint that upcoming EVs will share design cues with the conventional Bimmers instead of getting their own unique styling, like the i3. Specs and performance details are slim as of this writing, but BMW promises an innovative drivetrain layout, an output of at least 270 horsepower, and mileage of at least 400 km (249 miles). A prototype of the production model was already spotted in the wild, so it may be unveiled early next year. Let’s find out more in the speculative review below.

2020 BMW X6 M
The 2020 BMW X6 M is the high-performance version of the third-generation coupe-style SUV. Just like the X5 M, it features a more aggressive exterior design with new options and a lot more technology inside the cabin. Thanks to new driver assist tech, the X6 M is a semi-autonomous vehicle in certain scenarios and it can park by itself. The really big news is the beefed-up engine, now capable of 600 horsepower. But BMW also offers a more powerful variant with the Competition badge that generates 617 horsepower. The new two-model lineup goes right after the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe, also available in two flavors. Let’s find out more about that in the review below.
2020 BMW X5 M
The 2020 BMW X5 M is the range-topping version of the fourth-generation X5 SUV. Unveiled in 2019, it’s the most powerful and advanced version of the midsize hauler. Sportier than ever design-wise and fitted with BMW latest tech, including semi-autonomous drive, the 2020 X5 M hides a twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V-8 under the hood. Rated at 600 horsepower, it’s a bit more potent than the old engine. But BMW also offers a 617-horsepower model under the Competition badge. The two-model strategy enables the 2020 X5 M to better compete with the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63. Find out more about the high-performance SUV in the review below.
2020 BMW X7 - Driven
The BMW X7 is one of the newest models in Bimmer’s lineup, and it serves a noble purpose as the brand’s flagship SUV (or Sports Activity Vehicle, if you listen to BMW’s “we-need-to-be-different” nonsense.) It was announced back in 2014, and shown off in concept form (the BMW X7 iPerformance Concept) in 2017, but wasn’t available at dealers until March 2019. Since then, we’ve been itching to get behind the wheel of one, and BMW was happy to oblige.
As you might expect from a flagship model, the X7 is about as luxurious as you can get without dipping your toes in the six-figure range. It comes close, with the X7 XDrive50i commanding an MSRP of $92,600, but it won’t cross that big mark unless you start checking off option boxes. Even the M50i falls just shy of six figures at $99,600. Under the hood of our xDrive50i sat a 4.4-liter V-8 (the same one that may be discontinued soon enough,) and it was good for 456 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The sprint to 60 mph was rated at 5.2, but we got there in just a hair over 5 seconds, mighty impressive for a vehicle that weighs 5,617 pounds.
Interior space of the X7 was great, but what really caught our attention was the air suspension that would raise or lower as needed. Loading something into the rear? No problem, the suspension will drop to make it easier for you. Going over rough roads? Raise it up a notch. Spirited driving? The suspension will help keep things level. It’s like there’s nothing it can’t do. Comfort was on par with what you would expect, while materials and fit and finish were top notch.

2020 BMW X6 - Driven
The BMW X6 has been around since 2007, and in the space of 13 years, it has become one of the most popular coupe-SUVs in the segment. Now that the third-generation X6 (GO6) has arrived, Bimmer’s resident coupe-SUV is ready to take on all comers in its segment. The third-generation X6 comes with plenty of upgrades. All the press releases and first-wave reviews made points of all of that. But you don’t get to appreciate these upgrades until you actually see the X6 in person, as we did when we recently took one out for a spin around town.
The all-new X6 looks good on paper, but it looks even better up close. BMW outdid itself in designing a coupe-SUV that fully embraces its identity. The X6 also comes with a gorgeous interior, though that’s hardly a surprise considering the company that makes it. Very little about the all-new X6 comes as a disappointment, though considering the market that it calls home, it’s still going to have a fight in its hands against some of its rivals. BMW did the new X6 proud, though. It’s arriving at the party packing serious lead.
2021 BMW X8
The 2021 BMW X8 is an upcoming crossover based on the familiar X7. Rumored to arrive by the end of 2020 or in 2021, the X8 will fill another gap in BMW’s SUV lineup. Essentially an X7 with a coupe-style roof, the X8 will become BMW’s range-topping coupe-SUV, as it will slot above the X6.
BMW has yet to confirm the existence of the X8, but intel from BMWBlog claims that the vehicle is already in development with the internal designation G09 (the X7 is codenamed G07). Once it arrives, the X8 will be the eighth SUV in BMW’s lineup. What do we know about the X8? Quite a lot, and we also have a couple of renderings of the SUV’s design. 2019 BMW X5 Protection VR6
It’s been over 40 years since BMW released the 733i High Security. It was the German automaker’s first attempt at an armored vehicle. Little did anyone know, including BMW, that the 733i High Security would send Bavaria down the road to developing more personal protection vehicles. Fast forward to 2019 and Bimmer is still churning out fortresses on four wheels, this time with the fourth-generation BMW X5 SUV. Officially, this X5 carries the “Protection VR6” label. It’s a standard X5 by most measures, except that it also carries enough protection to keep its occupants safe from heavy ammunition attacks. The BMW X5 Protection VR6 is not for the faint of heart, folks. It’s designed for people who need all the extra protection they can get on the road for reasons that are probably best left unasked.
2019 BMW X5 G05 by AC Schnitzer
BMW is known for its elegant, capable, and good-looking vehicles, be it the sedans, SUVs, or sports cars. It’s been 20 years since the X5 was launched, and this is the fourth-gen of the SUV. However, the latest design philosophy has kind of diluted the last aspect for the majority of people. The kidney grille is not exactly a favorite, but BMW, for some reason, thinks this design will age well and is persistent to continue with it. But, thanks to companies like AC Schnitzer, these vehicles are looking quite good even in the latest iteration. AC Schnitzer got its hands on the 2019 X5 and has done magic on the SUV to make it look a lot better than what it does in stock condition. Are there any changes except for the makeover?
Our spies have spotted what appears to be the new BMW X7 testing almost completely covered in camo around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. It is believed this is the hot Alpina XD7 version of the X7 which is going to get a power boost and some styling differences inside and out in the familiar Alpina style.
You may have spotted that it has a “D” in its model designation, so it’s going to be a diesel, definitely based on the most powerful oil burner BMW makes, the M50d unit that kept pinning me to my seat during my road test of the M550d - it’s a torque monster with plenty of top end too.
The engine will be breathed upon by Alpina to make more power, and the suspension will be altered as well - it will be lowered and stiffened for improved handling and grip will be improved through the use of higher performance tires.

2020 BMW X6
The 2020 BMW X6 is the third-generation version of the coupe-styled crossover. Unveiled less than a year after the fourth-generation, 2019 X5 broke cover, the 2020 X6 shares much of its design with the midsize SUV. Essentially identical to the 2019 X5 up front, the 2020 X6 stands out thanks to its coupe-style roof and hunchback rear section. As before, the 2020 X6 also shares underpinnings with its X5-badged sibling.
A competitor for the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, the 2020 X6 boasts a sportier design, BMW’s latest technology, and a range of upgraded or new engines. Both gasoline and diesel mills are available, but the oil burners won’t make it to the U.S. More about that, as well as all the new features available, in the review below.
2020 BMW X4 M
The 2020 BMW X4 M is the high-performance version of BMW’s compact coupe SUV. Unveiled alongside its 2020 X3 M sibling, the X4 M arrived five years after the nameplate was introduced in 2014. A bit late to the party, but BMW finally offers a competitor for the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 Coupe. Based on the second-generation X4 that was unveiled for the 2018 model year, the X4 M shares underpinnings and technology with the X3 M. It features BMW’s brand-new S58 engine, a twin-turbo, 3.0-liter inline-six that will also power the next-generation M3 and M4 models. The X4 M is, together with the X3 M, the first M vehicle that’s available with two power ratings at the same time. The X4 M is the base model with 473 horsepower, while the X4 M Competition acts as the range-topping version with 503 horsepower.
2020 BMW X3 M
The 2020 BMW X3 M is the high-performance version of the company’s popular compact SUV. The M-badged crossover arrived a full 16 years after the X3 made its debut and enables BMW to compete with beefed-up versions of the Mercedes-Benz GLC and Audi Q5. Alongside the X3 M, BMW also introduced a higher-spec Competition model. The highly anticipated X3 M arrived to put an end to more than a decade of speculation. Rumored ever since the crossover arrived in showrooms back in 2003, the X3 M is finally here to take on the Mercedes-AMG GLC63. The Competition model boasts a bit more power and extra standard features, which places it in the same league with the AMG GLC63 S.
2019 BMW X5 M50d - Driven
The all-new, 2019 BMW X5 isn’t so much a new high-riding model in the Bavarian automaker’s range, but more a case of a huge grille with a big SUV attached to it. It is a very proud looking car, the new X5, and BMW really wants you to notice it because it believes it’s great vehicle that should get your attention. You don’t put this big a grille on a car you are not 100 percent confident in and after spending some time with the new X5, in top M50d diesel trim no less, I found little to fault about it. And this comes from a guy who doesn’t really like or understand the need for SUVs (it is my belief that they are a bit pointless and are usually bought to do the same job as a wagon).
I admit that when I picked up the car I wanted to start picking at faults on the quest to reach my predetermined conclusion that you’re better off buying a 5-Series wagon. But you aren’t better off necessarily because the new X5 has a lot to offer - almost car-like handling, strong performance, one of the best six-cylinder engine soundtracks ever, and limo-like passenger room and comfort levels. Plus, BMW says the latest X5 is also the best X5 ever when it comes to going off-road, not that anybody will actually take it off-road, but it’s nice to know it can. I mean it’s an SUV after all, so it should be able to take you off the beaten path whenever you feel like it.
Not this M50d with steel springs, active sway bars, and massive rims, though, as it’s better suited for on-road driving. For the first time, however, BMW is offering models that are more off-road oriented with adjustable air suspension that can increase its ride height and rough ground capability considerably. But boy is that M50d power plant good, especially with the new exhaust resonator that comes online in sport mode - it is probably one of the loudest factory diesels ever made, and I absolutely love it because of this.
2019 BMW X5
The 2019 BMW X5 has been completely redesigned for 2019 with a new, revitalized exterior look, all-new interior, tons of new technology, and even more power than before. At the time of launch, it will be offered in four different trim levels that include xDrive40i (replaces the 35i,) the xDrive50i, xDrive30d, and the M50d.
All models come standard with next-gen tech like BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, larger head up display, cooled and heated cup holders, and ambient interior lighting. And, to really top things off, it’s a seven-seater with extra legroom. No good deed goes unpunished, though, as it looks like cargo room does suffer a bit.
The “SkyLounge” panorama glass roof is said to have as many as 15,000 illuminated colors. Wheel offerings range anywhere between 18 and 22-inches and an off-road package will add a special locking differential in the rear. Gasoline engines range between 340 and 462 horsepower while diesel engines range between 265 and 400 horsepower. The new, 2019 BMW X5 should go on sale in late 2018.
