2020 BMW iX3
Like most automakers out there, BMW announced plans to add a large number of electrified models, but while some companies are already offering a handful of EVs and hybrids, BMW doesn’t have much to offer beyond the i3 electric hatchback and the i8 hybrid sports car. But that’s about to change soon, as BMW developed a new-generation eDrive platform that will underpin a number of vehicles in the future. The new drivetrain made its debut in the iX3 Concept, which previews a production model based on the familiar X3 crossover.
Showcased at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, the iX3 is a mildly revised X3 on the outside. This is a sign that BMW wants its electric lineup to be familiar to company enthusiasts and it’s a hint that upcoming EVs will share design cues with the conventional Bimmers instead of getting their own unique styling, like the i3. Specs and performance details are slim as of this writing, but BMW promises an innovative drivetrain layout, an output of at least 270 horsepower, and mileage of at least 400 km (249 miles). A prototype of the production model was already spotted in the wild, so it may be unveiled early next year. Let’s find out more in the speculative review below.

2020 BMW X7 - Driven
The BMW X7 is one of the newest models in Bimmer’s lineup, and it serves a noble purpose as the brand’s flagship SUV (or Sports Activity Vehicle, if you listen to BMW’s “we-need-to-be-different” nonsense.) It was announced back in 2014, and shown off in concept form (the BMW X7 iPerformance Concept) in 2017, but wasn’t available at dealers until March 2019. Since then, we’ve been itching to get behind the wheel of one, and BMW was happy to oblige.
As you might expect from a flagship model, the X7 is about as luxurious as you can get without dipping your toes in the six-figure range. It comes close, with the X7 XDrive50i commanding an MSRP of $92,600, but it won’t cross that big mark unless you start checking off option boxes. Even the M50i falls just shy of six figures at $99,600. Under the hood of our xDrive50i sat a 4.4-liter V-8 (the same one that may be discontinued soon enough,) and it was good for 456 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The sprint to 60 mph was rated at 5.2, but we got there in just a hair over 5 seconds, mighty impressive for a vehicle that weighs 5,617 pounds.
Interior space of the X7 was great, but what really caught our attention was the air suspension that would raise or lower as needed. Loading something into the rear? No problem, the suspension will drop to make it easier for you. Going over rough roads? Raise it up a notch. Spirited driving? The suspension will help keep things level. It’s like there’s nothing it can’t do. Comfort was on par with what you would expect, while materials and fit and finish were top notch.

2019 BMW X7
The BMW X7 is the company’s newest and largest SUV yet. First confirmed in 2014, the X7 arrived in 2018 as BMW’s flagship hauler. It slots above the popular X5 and competes against the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the Cadillac Escalade, and the Land Rover Range Rover. The X7 joins six other SUVs to complete a crossover lineup that ranges from subcompact to full-size models.
When BMW joined the SUV market with the X5 back in 1999, little did we know that the German manufacturer will become such an important player in this segment. But in a little more than a decade, the Bavarian brand has launched no fewer than four different crossovers. Come 2018, and a flagship X7 joins the market to allow BMW to enter the full-size market. The X7 is the fifth BMW to be produced in the company’s U.S. facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina, joining the X3, X4, X5, and X6.

2016 BMW X5 M Typhoon by G-Power
A little over a month ago, BMW tuner extraordinaire G-Power presented a new engine upgrade for the BMW X5 M. It was noticeably missing the “Typhoon” moniker since it lacked any of the visual upgrades that the name comes from. Well, better late than never, right? Because the new Typhoon kit for the high-performance luxury SUV has arrived and it packs the same amount of power upgrades – 750 horsepower and 723 pound-feet of torque – as the the previous kit to go along with an extensive body kit.
The cosmetic upgrades are the big difference here and they make a ridiculous difference in both the X5 M’s stance and appearance. It also makes for a lighter SUV, which should pay dividends when the vehicle is blowing through the highways of the world. I’m holding off on calling it a visual upgrade because not everybody may find it appetizing to the eyes. But for those who appreciate a jacked-looking BMW X5 M with matching performance credentials, this new Typhoon kit is a feast for the senses.
Be prepared to spend, though, because G-Power’s programs don’t come cheap. That’s especially true for the Typhoon program because the wide body kit alone will cost you the equivalent of a hot hatchback

The debut of AC Schnitzer’s tuning kit for the new BMW X6 at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show meant it would only be a matter of time before a similar program would be unveiled for the more powerful X6 M. Well, it certainly didn’t take long because the German tuner has just released the details for the said program.
Similar to the setup of the X6 tuning kit, the version of the X6 M is as comprehensive as it’s going to get. It has exterior modifications, suspension upgrades, and minor interior improvements. Most importantly, it comes with an impressive engine upgrade that adds almost 80 horsepower to the X6 M’s output.
AC Schnitzer hasn’t said how much the program’s going to cost. I do think that the cost of acquiring this program would fall somewhere in the $10,000 to $15,000 range. If you are really interested in the program, your best bet is to hit up AC Schnitzer to get a quote on the kit. Since some parts can be added as extra options, the price could vary depending on what you want to put into your X6 M.

BMW just introduced the 2016 BMW X1 this week, and while the next-gen crossover will surely bring a bump in sales, it hardly does anything to draw in enthusiasts that have always flocked to the German brand. Because we’re betting that it’s coming, we conjured up a rendering of a sportier version of BMW’s new baby crossover, the BMW X1 M. At this point, there aren’t any solid rumors suggesting that an X1 M could become a reality, but with vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG and Audi RS Q3 out there, such a model would definitely make sense in the BMW lineup.
With that being said, this is all just pure speculation using common design cues associated with the BMW M brand. If (and that’s a big if) BMW is planning on building the X1 M, it probably wouldn’t enter into production until late 2016 at the soonest, considering that M models usually show up about a year after the standard model and the X1 goes on sale this fall. For now, though, at least we have something to dream about.

While the BMW X3 has been around since 2004, Alpina’s version of it, the XD3 Bi-Turbo, has been only been around since 2014. Like all other Alpina models, the XD3 is based on the production Bimmer, but with a handful of exterior and interior updates, and a nice power bump as well. For the 2015 model year, the XD3 inherits all of the styling updates of the 2015 X3.
Some people mistakenly consider Alpina a BMW tuner, when in fact it is its own automaker as recognized by the German Ministry of Transport. Additionally, Alpina and BMW actually work closely with one another, and many of Alpina’s manufacturing processes are built directly into BMW’s production line. How many tuners can you think of who work that closely with a major automaker? I can’t think of a single one.
So, how does the XD3 stack up against the big boys of the luxury SUV world?

BMW is preparing to launch a new version of its popular X5 SUV, the F15 Security Plus. To the casual observer, nothing is amiss with the X5, but to a firearm-wielding criminal bent on theft or worse, the F15 Security Plus is a rolling safehouse disguised as a BMW.
BMW will officially debut the armored X5 at the upcoming Moscow Auto Show next week, though the original concept made its first appearance in Frankfurt last year. The F15 Security Plus is designed to meet the VR6 protection level, meaning attacks from small arms fire like the AK-47, AR-15, and most hand guns will have no effect on the passenger’s health (well, save for panic or heart attacks).
Ballistic panels and glass aren’t the only modifications BMW has done to the F15. The chassis has been strengthened while the electronic management systems and brakes have been upgraded to deal with the added weight. Power comes from the twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V-8 making 445 horsepower and 480 pound feet of torque.
This isn’t BMW’s first in-house armored vehicle. The German automaker has been producing armored versions of its 7 Series for nearly two decades. Currently BMW is producing the VR7-rated 7 Series rated to protect against more lethal threats like explosives and higher-powered rifles.
BMW will also offer a lighter, VR4-rated X5 SUV for customers looking for basic protection but with minimal changes in vehicle driving dynamics. More details are slated for release once the vehicle debuts in Moscow.

Car wrapping is a delicate art that sometimes requires restraint. Lose it and your work becomes a little too abrasive. Hold off on the art and the product could look pedestrian. There are only a few companies in the world that can expertly strike a balance between the two and one of them is Fostla.De. The German tuner is one of the best in the business at this and recently, the company presented a new program for the BMW X5 that embodied the tuner’s affinity for car wrapping. See, the tuner’s program for the X5 comes with an anodized matte-red car wrap to go with a significant performance boost.
We appreciate the fact that Fostla prepared a comprehensive upgrade for the X5, but it’s hard to notice them all when all that red is staring you in the face. But hey, the program does come with a significant performance boost, which is more than we can say for other car-wrapping specialists who don’t venture into the the engine compartment.
The entire kit costs €8,500, which is about $10,700 based on the exchange rate on 7/30/2014. It’s a nice program for the X5, although its pretty steep price tag might dissuade some customers.

The third-generation BMW X5 is finally getting its aftermarket dues. Kelleners Sport gets the credit for this impressive program, blending some aerodynamic goodies with new wheels and an extensive engine update.
It’s hard to downplay how important these kits are for SUVs like the X5. For the most part, tuners can only go so far with installing new components on these types of models. What’s more important is how tuners are able to improve on the performance end, which really is the heart of every tuning program. Kelleners Sport achieved that, thanks to a variety of engine kits designed to give various trims of the X5 the extra oomph some owners need.
This is by no means the most impressive kit we’ve seen on a BMW X5, but when it comes to offering a comprehensive list of upgrades on all sections of the SUV, Kelleners Sport did a pretty good job of checking off many items on that list.

Every year, BMW brings a number of its vehicles to RETTmobil, considered as the best European expo for emergency vehicles. This year, the Bavarian automaker is doing it again with a handful of models that are built specifically for this occasion. One of these models is the BMW X5 xDrive30d Paramedic Vehicle, which gives a whole new meaning to a luxury SUV ambulance.
The BMW X5 xDrive30d Paramedic Vehicle isn’t your ordinary X5. It’s actually been fully equipped to serve a specific purpose. The exterior colors pretty much say it all, right? The white base of the X5 makes way for orange graphics throughout the body. Custom-issued emergency lights sit on top of the X5 and just under the kidney grilles, further showcasing the breadth of customization BMW undertook to turn this SUV into a full-fledged paramedic vehicle.
The interior of this X5 xDrive30d wasn’t shown in any of the photos, but to serve its purpose, we can surmise that BMW removed most of the accessories from a standard X5 and slapped on a host of life-saving equipment. It should also have tremendous amounts of space and an automatic tailgate that makes it more accessible in times of emergency.
Another important element of this paramedic vehicle is its engine. In this case, this X5 comes with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line diesel engine that produces 258 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, more than enough power to be of good use in emergency situations. It’s also been equipped with xDrive all-wheel drive, allowing it to successfully navigate through the toughest of terrain.
The BMW X5 xDrive30d Paramedic Vehicle is one of seven vehicles BMW is bringing to ReTTmobil. But we’re guessing that lots of eyes will be on this one.

Next to the 2 Series Coupe we brought you earlier today, BMW also equipped the X5 SUV with a series of updates offered by its M Performance subsidiary. Just like with the coupe, the updated SUV will be available starting March 2014 and includes a series of updates to both the exterior and the interior, plus a more powerful engine.
The X5 xDrive35i received a modified engine control system that increases the final output by 20 horsepower - up to a total of 326 horsepower and 36 pound-feet of torque. The extra power was combined with an optimized accelerator pedal set-up that will improve the spontaneous response of the engine and will optimize performance.
For the X5 xDrive35i BMW is also offering a M Performance silencer system plus a M Performance tailpipe trim elements available either in chrome or carbon.

BMW revealed the concept X5 eDrive today ahead of its public debut at next month’s Frankfurt Auto Show. This BMW-developed plug-in hybrid powertrain looks quite promising: it maintains the xDrive AWD system’s torque split ability to all four wheels even when running in hybrid or full electric mode.
Cabin space is said to be only marginally trimmed from the advanced Li-ion battery pack under the rear cargo tray area - but the real headline is a sprint time that is still under 7 seconds and an all-electric cruising range of 19 miles at speeds up to 75 mph.
This BMW eDrive concept is the second time a plug-in hybrid has emerged from Munich — the first being 2012’s Active Tourer— a front-drive MPV heading for launch in a few years.
Of course, BMW’s i brand also has some striking electrified models waiting in the wings with the i8 and i3 - both of which are scheduled for big launch news during the company’s Frankfurt press conferences.
The concept X5 eDrive tests the mood for a future plug-in hybrid luxury SUV, but brings numerous technological advancements so far unseen from the smash-hit Lexus RX450h and supercharged seven-seat 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid. As currently planned, the X5 eDrive will lag behind the main models to market by about a year - for a projected late fall 2014 arrival in American showrooms.

The 2014 BMW X5 will not hit showrooms until late in November, but Lumma Design has already found a way to improve it. The new Lumma kit applies to both diesel and gasoline models, and will be available for order starting in March 2014.
As with any other kit developed by Lumma, the new CLR X5 RS starts by upgrading the exterior look of the car. The new aerodynamic kit starts with a new front spoiler bumper with enlarged air inlets and integrated daytime running lights. There are also new, custom-made side skirts and a new hood with large built-in vents.
Lumma also took the X5’s backside to a new level, as it installed a new integrated diffuser and a new rear spoiler with specially placed panels. Lastly, a set of powerful-looking wheel-arch flares help to give the X5 a more aggressive stance.

BMW has been twiddling around with the BMW X4 since 2008 when the idea of a sportier version of the X3 was looking like a profitable venture. Back then, the German automaker was calling it a Sport Activity Sedan (SAS) and had thought they might be able to crank it out in 2010. Obviously that didn’t pan out, but plans for the X6’s smaller brother are still in the works, with a possible debut in 2013.
As you can see from the leaked prototype image provided above, the BMW X4 will get many of its exterior components from the X3, including the use of the X3’s platform. Rumors suggest that the future vehicle will be produced at the company’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, which would be fitting considering the passion we, as Americans, have for SUVs.
Do we need another sporty off-roader to cram into our parking spaces and guzzle up more gas? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean that the future BMW X4 won’t zoom right out of dealerships when it finally goes on sale.
UPDATE 04/05/2013: BMW has officially lifted the veil from the X4 Concept to confirm that the leaked concept images are, in fact, a reality. Also released were three videos of the new X4 concept (above). BMW went rather deep into the design of the X4 Concept, but left any details regarding the drivetrain out. With a package name that is similar to a fax machine’s model number, the BMW SP6 X is Sportec’s attempt to change your mind about diesel engines. Sure, at one point in the past diesels were loud, rough and loaded with nothing but torque, but times are changing. We have a sneaking suspicion that this tune may change your perception of a diesel engine.
The package mainly focuses on the performance of the X6. In this example, the car is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder diesel engine that, thanks to Sportec, now produces 370 horsepower and 750 Nm (553 pound-feet) of torque, a nice bump from the stock 306 horsepower and 600 Nm (442 pound-feet) of torque.
This bump in output helps shave 1.1 seconds from its stock 6.5-second 0-to-60 mph sprint, which in real-time, 1.1 seconds seems like nothing, but in a 0-to-60 launch, that’s a lifetime. To add to the beefy upgrade, Sportec has also upped the top speed from 130 mph to 163.4 mph, making this Bimmer a touch more exciting.
Finally, the exterior features sporty exhaust tail pipes that breathe out more spent-diesel-fuel fumes and custom 19-inch OZ wheels to reduce the X6’s weight and add a little extra sport to its look.
So, do you still think diesel engines offer no fun?
For people that get the four seasons, you’re all probably aware that winter is coming, and that means you’re going to need a ride that can take the wrath of the cold in stride.
German automaker BMW has partnered with ski manufacturer K2 to provide us winter wanderers with the ride for the season. Based on the former’s X1 SUV, the ride has been dubbed the X1Powder Ride Special Edition and it comes with a plethora of exclusive features that, quite frankly, no other X1 will probably have.
For starters, the special edition X1 will carry a number of color options, including non-metallic paint shades like Black and Alpine White, in addition to more glistening shades like Valencia Orange, Mineral White, Mineral Grey, Glacier Silver, and Black Sapphire. In addition to that, the X1 Powder Ride Edition will also come with plenty of new equipment that has been specifically added to the SUV’s overall purpose.
There are roof rails, door sill strips, leather trim for the seats and steering wheel, a snowboard bag, all-weather floor mats, a roof box, ambient lighting, and a new set of 18" alloy wheels, a lot of which are part of the the automaker’s xLine package. Just because it’s co-produced by K2, the X1 Powder Ride Edition will also come with an exclusively designed pair of K2 LTD Powder Ride skis.
As far as engine options are concerned, the X1 Powder Ride Special Edition will be available for the 300-horsepower xDrive35i straight-six model or the 240-horsepower xDrive28i four-cylinder model.
The BMW X1 Powder Ride Special Edition will make its debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show before hitting dealerships next year.
Meanwhile, the Concept K2 Power Ride, another LA-bound BMW X1, will come with a taller ride height, tinted windows, a new set of 19" alloy wheels, a custom milled aluminum ski rack, and an integrated Harman Kardon sound system.
