The common response to hearing news like losing almost $6 million per Veyron sold is to make a well-crafted press release calling for an understanding of priorities.
But that’s not Bugatti’s style.
What the French automaker does best it seems is to build special edition Veyrons, even if it costs them millions just to get one model on the road.
Recently, Bugatti took a Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, dressed it up real nice, and aptly named it after one of the world’s fastest rising classical musicians. This, dear friends, is the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Lang Lang Edition.
The ode to the classical pianist is clearly evident just by looking at the Veyron’s two-tone, black and white finish, which was inspired by the colors of a concert grand piano.
Moving inside, the door panels of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse continue the color treatment with white leather covers coming with black contrast stitching, something Bugatti says should remind people of ‘note lines." Continuing the piano inspiration are the number of gold plates made available throughout the cabin, including the EB badge on the steering wheel, center clasp, and even the fuel filler cap.

The Bugatti Veyron is one of the most expensive cars in the world. Apparently, it also comes with a hefty cost to the company itself.
According to figures released by BersteinResearch, the most powerful car in the world is also a money pit for Bugatti, costing the automaker as much as &euro4 million (about $5.4 million) in losses for every Veyron sold since 2005. That’s almost an unimaginable loss.
A more staggering number is the $3 billion Bugatti will most likely end up losing once all 450 Veyrons are produced and sold off. We don’t know anybody willing to lose that much money just to prove a technological point, but it appears that this is what Bugatti — and the Volkswagen Group — signed off on when it was decided to green light the production of the Veyron eight years ago.
Some things, it turns out, are more important than financial gains, and Bugatti is proving that once again after already announcing that a successor to the Veyron is going to arrive sooner than later.

Fresh off of disposing Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in one of the most clinical displays of boxing you’ll ever see, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is back to living large like nobody else can.
He pocketed a cool $41.5 million as his fight purse alone, and that number is expected to hit anywhere from $85 to $100 million when all is said and done. So yeah, the nickname fits the man, so they say.
Mayweather’s status as one of the richest athletes in the world also affords him some nice luxuries, one of which he proudly displayed during the recent build-up to the Alvarez fight.
Over in his Las Vegas home, Mayweather has a pretty sick car collection. It’s not sick because of the quantity. It’s sick because of the quality of machines he has inside his Vegas property. Oh, and they’re all white too, which has become a color of choice whenever Mayweather is shopping for a new set of wheels.
Take a look at the collection and tell us you’re not impressed. There’s a Lamborghini Aventador, a Ferrari 599 GTB, a Ferrari 458 Spyder, a Rolls-Royce Drophead, a Bentley Mulsanne, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Bugatti Veyron, and his personal favorite, a 1996 Mercedes S600 V12 sedan, which we assume was his first car after turning pro in 1996. In case your head is spinning just trying to tally up the rough total of those cars, it is somewhere between $3.5 and $4 million, depending on the years and the options on each car.
But the best part about Money May’s extravagant car collection? It’s not the only one he has. He’s got one in Miami, Los Angeles, and God knows where else.

A few months ago, it was rumored that Bugatti would come to the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show with a successor for the current Veyron. Instead, the company decided to reveal a new special-edition Veyron built as a tribute to Jean Bugatti.
Still, Bugatti is in the works to add a new supercar to its lineup, and Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, president of Bugatti, offered the first details on it. According to him, the new model "will not be a successor of the Veyron because you cannot succeed the Veyron." The new model will be indeed a new "super sports car," but completely different to the Veyron. This basically means that it’ll be a replacement, not a successor...
The new model until Bugatti has finished building the models that it has on order. According to Schreiber, once the last Veyrons are built, which will take about two years, the Veyron’s book is closed and will not open again.

Do you remember the teaser image posted by Bugatti on its Facebook account the other days? We were hoping it was showing the successor for the current Veyron supercar, but unfortunately the car teased there is just a new special edition Veyron from the "Bugatti Legends" series. Guess we didn’t read far enough between the lines...
The first of the "Legend" lineup was unveiled at Pebble Beach in August, and it paid tribute to Bugatti Legend Jean-Pierre Wimille. The second special edition will be unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and pays tribute to Jean Bugatti, the eldest son of Bugatti founder Ettore Bugatti, and former designer and test driver for Bugatti.
The new Veyron Jean Bugatti edition was inspired by the Type 57SC Atlantic — the best model ever designed by Jean Bugatti. This special edition is constructed entirely from jet black, clear-coated carbon fiber, and it features platinum insertions on the staple Bugatti horseshoe on the front grille and the EB logo on the rear. It sits on black, diamond-cut alloy wheels.
For the interior, Bugatti is offering the same beige and brown tones used in the original Type 57SC Atlantic: the seats, instrument panel, steering wheel, dash panel, center console, door trim panels and windscreen cross member are chocolate brown, while Bugatti added contrasting beige on the center console, foot well, outer door trim panels and handle recesses.
Just like any other Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, this special model carries an 8.0-liter, W-16 engine that cranks out 1,200 horsepower and 1,500 Nm (1,106 pound-feet) torque at 3,000 to 5,000 rpm. This power affords it a 0-to-100 km/h (0-to-62 mph) sprint of just 2.6 seconds.
This special edition is limited to only three units, and each carries a price tag of €2.28 million (about $3 million at the current exchange rates).

Bugatti just posted a pretty interesting teaser image on its Facebook page. This image reveals nearly nothing, and Bugatti is being rather tight lipped about it all. The only thing that Bugatti let us know is that we will see it in full next week at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show via a blurb under the image that reads "The next #Bugatti #Legend is about to be revealed at the Frankfurt Motorshow #IAA Who could it be?"
Yes indeed, who could it be? Lets do some math to find out. Just the other day we reported that any thought of producing the 16C Galibier was axed, so unless the Bugatti boss was just trying to throw our scent, we do not expect this to be the Super Sedan.
A second model that circulated around the rumor wire was the SuperVeyron Veyron, which was rumored to deliver up to 1,600 horsepower, but that was given the axe treatment even before the Galibier.
The only option this leave us is the successor to the Veyron, which Bugatti officials have confirmed is already in the works. Now, whether it will carry the "Veyron" name badge or some variant of it remained to be seen. In reference to what will be in Frankfurt, our assumption is that, given the successor isn’t expected for a few years, that this is simply a concept of that model.
Of course we are not 100 percent certain, so we are not ready to hedge our bets just yet, because Bugatti is famous for releasing random special edition Veyrons, and this very well could be one.

The long-rumored, and we can imagine, often-fantasized Bugatti SuperVeyron will not happen. Not now. Not tomorrow. Not in the distant future.

The official word finally came out of the mouth of Bugattipresident Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, who spoke with Autoblog at Pebble Beach last weekend and unloaded the bombshell on the industry.
The news was disappointing, although something that wasn’t all that surprising considering the nature of the industry and the economy these days. Besides, the Veyron is still alive and kicking, as evidenced by the recent unveiling of the Jean-Pierre Wimille Edition at the same event over the weekend.
it would’ve been nice, though, to see a 1,600-horsepower Veyron out on the road, one that would have little problem establishing itself as the fastest and most powerful production car on the planet. But alas, it won’t happen so all’s left is to wonder what might have been.
Then again, Dr. Schreiber did say that a replacement for the Veyron is already in the works once the beloved Bugatti rides off into the sunset. We’re not sure if that one’s going to pack close to the 1,600 horsepower the SuperVeyron was rumored to have, but it did give us reason to hope.

Here’s a dilemma we’d like all of you answer: if you had around $30,000 in your pocket and you have to use it by the end of the day, would you spend it on a 2014 Ford Mustang or would you shell out just over $25,000 - and pocket the rest - for a one-day fling with the Bugatti Veyron.
On one hand, it’s easy to say that you’d rather have the Mustang permanently. On the other hand, the decision becomes a little trickier when you take into account that you’re going to be allowed to spend 24 hours with the mightiest supercar of them all.

In every company in the world, there are people that have helped elevate it to supremacy and some companies see it fit to celebrate its heroes. Bugatti is doing just that by preparing a series of six individual Veyron models, specially developed to pay tribute to the people that "have played a crucial role in its history and which have helped creating its mystique."
The first from this special series is called Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse "Jean-Pierre Wimille" Edition and, as its name suggests, it pays tribute to Jean-Pierre Wimille — a racecar driver that brought two Le Mans victories to Bugatti.
This special edition was inspired by the Bugatti 57G Tank that won the Le Mans in 1937. It comes with a two-tone paint job that features blue clear-coated carbon fiber and a light Wimille Bleu. Under the hood, this Bugatti Veyron stays bone stock, leaving it at the amazing 8-liter W-16 engine that delivers 1,200 horsepower and 1,100 pound-feet of torque.
The model will be making its world debut at the US The Quail/Pebble Beach set to take place from 16 to 18 August.

By now, everybody that follows the auto industry knows that Bugatti is preparing the wickedest version of its Veyron supercar to date.
It’s been dubbed the SuperVeyron and insiders have described it as "a fantasy in terms of its performance". That being said, Autocar is reporting that the SuperVeyron will be priced at a staggering £5 million, which is about $7.7 million based on current exchange rates.
In any language, that price tag is beyond ridiculous.
However, for those with the financial wherewithal to make such a purchase, they can take comfort knowing that they spent their money on a car that will put just about every other supercar in this world to absolute shame.
It’s not every day that Bugatti can wax hyperbole, given that the Veyron is already considered one of the fastest and most powerful supercars in the world. But anytime you can outdo even that with a supremely limited edition that’s fixing to shatter records left and right, then there’s really no such thing as exaggerated claims.

When you hear the word "supercar" we bet that one of the first models to come to mind is the Bugatti Veyron. It is definitely not the prettiest car out there - in fact quite the opposite with its jelly-bean-like shape - but it is definitely the fastest one out there.
After all it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and goes up to an amazing top speed of 257 mph. The SuperSport version entered the Guinness World Book with a top speed of 267 mph, but for the customers the speed is limited to "just" 257 mph.

The "Need for Speed" movie has been getting plenty of publicity the past few days. A day after it was announced that the Ford Mustang will play a starring role in the movie, a new video "Making-Of" trailer was released on the "Need for Speed" YouTube channel. And it shows quite a lot of carnage of the supercar variety.
We’ve already touched on the McLaren P1 being a part of the movie a few months ago. Apparently, the P1 is there alright, together with a slew of other high-priced exotics, like the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, and the Koenigsegg Agera.
But what really caught our eye was the untimely demise of the P1, which made us wonder if all those supercars in the movie are actually replicas instead of the real thing.
Now, we wouldn’t put it past Dreamworks Studios and Electronic Arts to get the real McCoys, but if you watch the video and see what happened to the $1.15 million P1, you’re gonna start wondering about the studios plans for these cars.
