Bugatti is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year, and in keeping with its reputation for celebrating anniversaries in style, it’s bringing a special edition Chiron to the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The special edition model, called the Chiron Sport “110 Ans,” is essentially a love letter for Bugatti, from Bugatti. It’s limited to just 20 units, and it’s dressed up in the finest exclusive touches you can find in the business. The special edition ode to Bugatti’s heritage will be the centerpiece of Bugatti’s exhibit in Geneva, though it may or may not be joined by a mysterious one-off hypercar that Bugatti is also rumored to have a spot for in its booth in Geneva. But that’s a different story. This is all about the Bugatti Chiron Sport 110 Ans Edition, a fitting celebratory piece to Bugatti’s long and storied history in the business.

What Makes the Bugatti Chiron Sport ‘110 Ans’ Edition Special?

1909 was a long time ago. 1909 was also the year Ettore Bugatti started the auto marquee that we know as the ultimate purveyor of luxury and performance. Bugatti, as a company, has been through a lot, including financial struggles in the middle part of the 20th century, but the automaker has persevered enough to become what it is today.

That’s a short history of Bugatti as a car maker, and even if I skimmed through a lot of important details about its life, you can tell that if there’s one company that deserves to celebrate its 110th anniversary in the grandest way possible, it’s Bugatti. The automaker is doing a year-long celebration, and the cocktail, if you can even call it that, is about to get served at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Ladies, gentlemen, feast your eyes on the Bugatti Chiron Sport 110 Ans Edition. If beauty went by another name, this must be it. This special edition Chiron is absolutely mesmerizing. It’s not just one thing, either.

Start with the Chiron’s carbon fiber body. The blue that you see is part-exposed Steel Blue carbon and part-matte in the back. It doesn’t look like from afar, but Bugatti dressed this Chiron in a two-tone finish that’s representative of luxury and exclusiveness back in the 1920s. If you want to get to the specifics, the front ends consists of exposed carbon fiber finished in Steel Blue Carbon, which gives it a matte-like texture that Bugatti says is suggestive of steel. Ok, I can believe that.

On the other hand, the dominant “C” fixtures surrounding the driver and passenger doors are painted in Steel Blue, as is the rear of the hypercar. Apparently, the process of creating this particular paintwork is elaborate and complicated. Bugatti didn’t dive deep into explaining how, but I can imagine the process being somewhat similar to Lexus creating its LC Structural Blue paint finish, though I doubt it took 15 years for Bugatti to develop its matte Steel Blue paintwork.

Actually, there’s more to it than that, or at least that’s what Bugatti says. The French tricolor — it’s officially called “Le Blue-Blanc-Rouge” — can be found in several sections in the body of the hypercar, specifically the mirror caps and the underside of the rear spoiler. Take a closer look at the trim, and you’ll notice that the colors of the flag are shown as a mirror image on the right-hand side of the Chiron. This wasn’t an accident on Bugatti’s part; it’s an arrangement that is normally used on French official vehicles, where the color blue, which stands for “liberty,” is also used to the fore on both sides. Handy piece of trivia, right?

Naturally, the exclusive touches don’t end with the mesmerizing two-tone body paint of the hypercar. Down below, the Chiron 110 Ans sits on a set of Nocturne Black alloy wheels. Peek inside the wheels, and you’ll see that the brake calipers are finished in another shade of blue that Bugatti calls French Racing Blue. There are no extra aero bits present in the body of the special edition Chiron. Everything is as you’ll find in a “standard” Chiron Sport trim.

It’s the same story in the interior. The layout’s the same, but the treatment is in line with what an exclusive, 20-unit limited edition hypercar should look like. That’s complemented by a number of other exclusive bits, including the presence of carbon fiber inserts and a generous amount of Alcantara on the door trims and the sides and seat areas of the sports seats. Speaking of which, the two sports seats, in particular, feature Bright French Racing Blue elements on the contours and a model-specific “110 Ans Bugatti” logo on the headrest. The French tricolor also makes a cameo on the backrest as trim that runs the length of the seats. The whole design is so beautiful that sitting on it feels like sitting on a work of art. The Chiron’s steering wheel gets in on the fun, too. It combines matte carbon fiber with a blue leather cover, and it also bears the French tricolor at the 12 o’clock mark on the wheel.

At this point, it does feel like we’re not talking about an exclusive, 20-unit limited edition hypercar anymore. If somebody made a petition to end the Chiron Sport 110 Ans Edition to the Louvre, I’d support it.It certainly looks a lot better than the four Bugatti Veyron Centenaire models that the automaker unveiled ten years ago in Lake Como, Italy to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary. Those four anniversary pieces haven’t aged well. This one, though, has a chance to do just that.

Aesthetics aside, let’s not forget that the Chiron Sport 110 Ans Edition is also powered by an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W-16 engine that produces a whopping 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. It only takes 2.4 seconds for this machine to hit 60 mph from a standstill position, and if you still have your wits about you at that point, you can throw away whatever’s left of your mental faculties and gun the Chiron until it reaches its electronically limited top speed of 261 mph.

In the event that you’re ready to part ways with your life savings just to afford one of the 20 units that Bugatti is building, you need to be advised that each of the 20 Chiron Sport 110 Ans Edition models will cost significantly more than the base $3.2 million price tag of a standard Chiron. How much more, you ask? Bugatti hasn’t said anything at this point, nor has it made any indication on how many of the 20 units are still available. You know what that silence means, right?
