At one point, the Cadillac CTS->ke1200 was the smallest offering from Cadillac.->ke18 In size, it was slated to compete against models like the Mercedes C-Class->ke1593 and the BMW 5 Series,->ke317 but it carried a price that slotted it against models like the BMW 3 Series->ke290 and the Audi A4.->ke1087 In Cadillac’s mind, customers would appreciate a larger luxury sedan for the price of small offerings on the market – in fact, the brand probably expected to sway a few consumers away from the competition. As it turned out, Caddy customers actually wanted a smaller sedan, so the brand developed the ATS->ke3619 and released it for the 2013 model year.

The ATS rides on GM’->ke1024s newly developed Alpha platform and went through a refresh for the 2015 model year that brought updated styling to the exterior and new technology to the interior. With the 2016 model year underway, Cadillac has decided to release a new styling packaged called the Black Chrome Package. The package is available for the CTS Sedan, but for the ATS, it is available on both the sedan and the coupe. The package brings new styling to some of the exterior trim, and some new body color choices, but offers nothing for the interior.

This new package is available on 2.0T and 3.6L Luxury Collection CTS models, as well as 2.0T and 3.6L Performance Collection models, in all-wheel and rear-wheel drive variants. The package is available at dealerships and Cadillac’s online portal and is priced at $795 for the sedan->ke142 and $595 for the coupe.->ke141 If you’re interested in one of the three additional finishes, however, you’ll be asked to pay an additional premium. With that said, let’s take a closer look at this package.

What makes the Cadillac ATS Black Chrome Package special

As I said before, there are no modifications to the interior of the CTS with the new Black Chrome package, so if you were looking to improve things on the inside, you’ll have to look elsewhere. On the outside, the largest part of the package are the new 18-inch alloy wheels with an After Midnight paint finish. Up front, you’ll find that the grille and lower air dam are now accented in black chrome. The air dam is accented with a black chrome louver that runs along the top of the air dam, terminating in the middle of each corner vent. The radiator grille, on the other hand, has black chrome surrounding the entire perimeter of the grille. There are also two horizontal louvers in the grille that are also finished in black chrome.

In addition to the wheels in an After Midnight finish, the trim around the side windows has also been finished in black chrome. Down below the waistline, the door handles are finished in the same color as the body, which is also new for this package. To the rear, the black chrome package is completed with the horizontal trim insert that runs across the width of the rear fascia. It is finished in black chrome and has “Cadillac” engraved on it.

Available on the 2.0T and 3.5L Luxury and Performance trims, the Black Chrome package includes a Black Raven exterior finish. There are three exterior color options available if you’re willing to pay a premium. Phantom Gray Metallic is offered for an additional $495, Red Obsession Tintcoat is available for $995, and Chrystal White Tricoat is available for $995.

The images we have here, depict the ATS Black Chrome in Red Obsession Tintcoat, but there is no doubt that Cadillac’s smallest sedan will look good in any of the other colors as well. The 2.0L Turbo Luxury and Turbo Performance trims start out at $39,340 and $43,155, respectively. Moving up to the 3.6L Luxury and Performance commands $41,340 and $45,155, respectively.

Cadillac ATS

The ATS is only a few years old at this point, and it has already gone through a facelift that gave it more luxurious and sporty styling. That said, if you’re waiting for the next generation before stepping into a Cadillac, you’ll probably be waiting at least a couple more years. In current form, the ATS starts out in 2.5L Standard Trim at $33,215 with rear-wheel drive. The 2.5L model is also available in Luxury form, also limited to rear wheel drive for $37,240. Moving up to the 2.0L and 3.6L variants will offer you the option of all-wheel drive. Prices increase incrementally through the lineup with the 2.0L Turbo Premium trim commanding $46,110 for RWD. All-wheel drive increases the starting price by $2,000 for each model.
