2017 Cadillac CTS-V – Driven
This isn’t your grandfather’s Cadillac. Nope, this is the third-generation CTS-V – a 640-horsepower, rear-wheel drive sports sedan with cutting-edge technology under the skin and looks to kill. Oh, and it also hits 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and goes 200 mph. It rivals the best Germany has to offer, such as the Audi RS7, Mercedes-AMG E63 S, and Porsche Panamera Turbo. This Caddy might not match the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat for horsepower, but it definitely has more class.
I recently spent a week living with the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V, doing everything from grocery store runs and idling in the parent pickup line at the kiddo’s school to launching the blacked-out sedan down open blacktop as the 1.7-liter roots-type supercharger screamed atop its 6.2-liter small block V-8. There’s no doubt the CTS-V is a riot when it comes to performance, but just how good is it at being a Cadillac?

2018 Cadillac CTS-V Glacier Metallic Edition
First introduced in 2002 as a successor to the Opel Omega-based Catera, the Cadillac CTS is already offered in its third-generation version. Updated in 2016 after three years on the market, the CTS spawned a new V version, powered by the supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8 found in the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Quicker and more powerful than ever, the current CTS-V finally has everything it needs to give its German competition a run for the money, and with the latest BMW M5 having received an AWD system, it remains the only performance offering with rear-wheel-drive. With Cadillac celebrating its 115th anniversary in August 2017, the CTS-V gained a limited-edition version with special features.
Dubbed Glacier Metallic Edition, it’s limited to only 115 units and comes standard with both the Carbon Fiber and the Luxury packages. It also sports a bespoke exterior color and added equipment inside the cabin. It’s essentially a loaded CTS-V without any special features (outside the paint of course), but it’s exactly what limited-edition Caddys have been about in recent years. The Glacier Metallic Edition is already available at dealers, so if you want one, make sure you grab it before it’s too late.

2017 Cadillac CTS-V With Carbon Black Sport Package
The third-generation Cadillac CTS was launched for the 2014 model year and, unlike its predecessor, it received a more revolutionary styling with sportier cues. It also introduced the company’s new design language. The new generation also brought a more upscale interior and important changes in the engine lineup, which now includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit. The high-performance CTS-V version arrived for the 2016 model year with a new supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8 under the hood.
It’s been a year and a half since the V-series model made its public debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show and Cadillac released a new special edition based on the high-performance sedan. Dubbed Carbon Black Sport Package, the new model gives customers the opportunity to buy a slightly more aggressive version of the CTS-V with darker accents on the outside and sportier features on the inside.
The CTS-V Carbon Black Sport Package debuted alongside similar bundles for the smaller ATS-V, as well as the milder ATS and CTS sedans. Details about pricing and availability are not yet available, but Cadillac revealed all the features that make the special-edition package special.

Hennessey Performance has a long history of taking already fast cars and pushing them to the limit. Cars like the 2015 Ford Mustang HPE700 or the Mercedes CLS 63 AMG by Hennessey are prime examples, but they have also focused on other cars that other tuners don’t give a second thought to. Case in point: The Cadillac CTS-V.
Back in 2011, they brought us cars like the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V V700 Sport Wagon and the V700 Coupe. In 2012, they put together the 1,000-horsepower CTS-V Coupe Twin Turbo V1000, and let’s not forget the 1,226-horsepower, 2013 Cadillac CTS-VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupe. All of that was just the beginning, though, as Hennessey has now released three performance packages for the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V.
It might be hard to imagine stepping up the new CTS-V, considering it comes with a new 6.2-liter V-8 that pushes 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. Even though it can hit 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 200 mph, Hennessey decided to step it up even more. The three available upgrade packages promise to push the Cadillac to anywhere between 750 and 1,000 horsepower – depending on how much you want to spend. In attempt to give German sedans such as the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and the Audi A4 a run for their money, Cadillac launched its smallest vehicle yet — the ATS— for the 2013 model year. The sedan was quickly followed by the ATS Coupe, which was aimed at the BMW 4 Series and the Audi A5. For 2016, Caddy gave both the sedan and coupe the V treatment expanding the ATS lineup to include competition for the BMW M, Mercedes-AMG and Audi RS cars.
Now that the performance compact is finally in dealerships, the brand is rolling out a special-edition model that celebrates "the ongoing launch of the first-ever Cadillac ATS-V." Dubbed Crystal White Frost Edition, and available for both the sedan and coupe, the bundle consists of several options and two packages offered as standard equipment. As the name suggests, both models can only be had in the Crystal White Frost exterior paint.
The recently redesigned Cadillac CTS-V also benefits from a similar package.
Pricing for the Crystal White Frost Edition starts at $71,460 for the sedan and $73,660 for the coupe, which accounts for a $10,995 premium for both models. Is this bundle worth the extra $11K? Keep reading to find out.

Welcome to Cadillac’s new direction; sport luxury wrapped in an attractive package and motivated by a powerful engine. The 2016 ATS-V sedan is the latest and greatest General Motors has to offer with the ATS platform. The four-door luxury compact sedan first bowed in the 2012 model year and took the segment by storm. A minor refresh for 2015 brings the car in line with its new-for-2015 Coupe version while Cadillac’s new wreathless and widened crest replaces the old brand emblem. With its sights set squarely on dethroning the Germans and their performance luxury sedans, Cadillac is upping the ante with twin turbochargers, sport suspension, and enough go-fast bits to build a racecar – all while keeping that swanky style the brand has become identifiable with.
At the heart of the ATS-V lies a twin-turbocharged version of the familiar 3.6-liter V-6. The engine finds itself with numerous upgrades, helping it produce an estimated 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual comes standard while the new eight-speed automatic borrowed from the Corvette Z06 is optional. All the power is routed through a limited-slip differential to the rear tires. Cadillac expects 0 to 60 mph to come in a blazing 3.9 seconds.
Cadillac’s outspoken new front man and president, Johan de Nysschen, says this V-Series is the “best example of Cadillac’s emerging product substance and the purest expression of the passion at the core of the brand.” Translation: the new 2016 ATS-V sedan ain’t your grandma’s Cadillac.
Update 4/10/2015: Cadillac has announced that it underestimated the output of the ATS-V. The new output is 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. That 9 horsepower more than it initially anticipated.

Launched for the 2013 model year, the Cadillac ATS sedan was developed as a luxury competitor to the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4. Nearly two years later, the GM-owned brand expanded the ATS family to include a two-door coupe aimed mainly at the BMW 4 Series. Just like its sedan sibling, the ATS Coupe gained a turbo, 2.0-liter four-banger and a 3.6-liter V-6 rated at 272 horsepower and 321 ponies, respectively. Additionally, and much like the CTS range, the ATS family is set to receive the high-performance "V" treatment. As we approach 2015, the ATS-V Coupe is the first model to have its engine injected with more oomph. The move pushes the stylish two-door vehicle closer to BMW’s range-topping 4 Series model, the M4, and into a market that also includes the awesome Audi RS5.
After months of testing and teasing, the ATS-V Coupe has been finally unveiled, showcasing its aerodynamic body kit, new technology and V-6 engine at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. Although inspired by the larger CTS-V, the ATS-V is quite different. Numerous chassis updates make it a capable track car, while the 3.6-liter V-6 is downright impressive on paper.
Will Cadillac stand a chance against the big guns of the industry with the brand-new ATS-V Coupe? Guess we’ll find out next year when the high-performance Caddy arrives in showrooms. Meanwhile, let’s have a look at the full details surrounding this beefed-up coupe.

Although the Cadillac CTS Sedan arrived with a brand new face at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, its performance-oriented cousins have yet to receive the updated look.
The entire CTS-V lineup, consisting of sedan, coupe and wagon models, charged into 2014 without major modifications, with Cadillac hoping to lure customers from BMW or Audi with more horsepower for less bucks.
That won’t change much for the first half of the 2015 model year, at least not as far as the CTS-V is concerned, as the manufacturer opted to end the current-generation model with a special edition two-door that will be available in the second half of 2014.
Only 500 of these cars will be built and sold with a number of exclusive features to complement the host of luxury amenities already offered with the CTS-V Coupe. The special edition model will provide passage between the current-generation version and the brand-new coupe that’s scheduled to break cover next year.

The 2014 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe may be long in the tooth, but it still has some surprisingly springy legs, which a testament to how far Cadillac has come in turning this high-powered CTS Coupe into a real luxury sports coupe.
Unfortunately, the CTS-V Coupe didn’t get the same love from Cadillac as far as looks are concerned. That honor was bestowed to the all-new CTS Sedan, and judging by how well-received the CTS Sedan was when it made its debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, the CTS-V should have reason for optimism when it gets its due turn in the new-generation design.
For now, though, the 2014 CTS-V Coupe trudges on with relatively minor updates since it made its debut in 2008. It’s a risky move for Cadillac, especially when a lot of customers can just opt to sit back and wait for the new-look CTS-V Coupe to arrive.

This luxury sport sedan has lofty goals on its sculpted shoulders: take down the BMW 3 series and establish Cadillac as the go-to choice among entry-level luxury sedan shoppers. These demanding buyers want exterior presence, interior quality and better-than-German performance characteristics for their $40,000.
What hasn’t been said about the Cadillac ATS that launched for 2013 on an all-new chassis, including turbocharged four-cylinder, V-6 and AWD options?
The ATS is rear-drive by default and includes some headline tech to win a segment where Cadillac has never been successful before. Perks like Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system, Brembo brakes, a limited-slip diff and third-gen Magnetic Ride Control are all without equal from the latest BMW, Audi and Mercedes rivals.
The plan is ambitious and the objective repeats the challenge issued by dozens of companies over the years, including: the Infiniti Q50, Lexus IS250 and Acura TL.
The ATS packs all the mechanical variations of the BMW 3 series and was explicitly benchmarked against the Bimmer for all levels of refinement, space and performance. In its first full year in a new segment for Cadillac, the ATS is a huge hit with 2013 year-to-date sales of over 20,000 units. This is a huge achievement, despite being only about 40 percent of BMW’s total 3 series volume for the same period.
The ATS Turbo is the top seller and comes with rear-drive or AWD and a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes. It is priced between the base 2.5-liter RWD auto and the optional 3.6-liter V-6 auto, which comes in rear or AWD configurations.

It looks like Cadillac is preparing to say "Good Bye" to the current-generation CTS in a very nice way: with two special editions based on the CTS Coupe and V-Series models. First there will be a CTS-V Coupe Silver Frost Edition limited to just 100 units and the second a Stealth Blue edition. Both new editions will arrive in March.
As their name suggest, the two new special editions will be pretty much about the exterior colors, with no updates under the hood. The Silver Frost edition will also get a new set of high-polished or satin-graphite wheels combined with brake caliper in yellow or red. On the interior the only updates will be limited to a suede-covered steering wheel and shift knob.
The Stealth Blue will get a dark finish grille, plus a new set of wheels painted in satin and combined with silver calipers. On the interior it will add Recaro performance seats.

Cadillac CTS-V is a perfect car from factory, so updating it makes absolutely no sense. In fact if you are taking a closer look at the model’s short history you will notice that there is almost no tuner to offer significant changes for the model.
All the changes we have seen were limited to minor exterior updates, new wheels and a few extra ponies under the hood. Today the guys over D2Forged applied the same treatment and improved the look of the CTS-V with a new set of wheels.
We are talking about a new set of wheels in 11 spoke design featuring unique detail fluting and an aggressive, sporty aesthetic. The wheels measure 21×9.5 at the front and 21×11 at the rear, with classic step lip configuration preventing the center from looking too large. The new wheels were combined with titanium brushed center and hi-polished lip finishing and the perfect Caddy wheel is complete!
Is it safe to say that the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe doesn’t get the love it deserves? We certainly think so because if it did get its due recognition, we’d have more aftermarket companies presenting programs for the American sports car.
Thankfully, the fine folks from Geiger Cars are one with us in this thinking. With a penchant for taking American sports cars and adding a nice aftermarket flavor to them, these folks went to work on Cadillac’s pride and joy, the CTS-V Coupe.
In stock form, the CTS-V Coupe is already a beast on four wheels, but thanks to a collaborative mix of a new engine software, camshafts, and a new sports exhaust system, Geiger Cars was able to bring the CTS-V’s output right smack in the middle of supercar territory. 620 horsepower with a new top speed of 218 mph.
Finishing their program for the CTS-V Coupe, Geiger Cars also fitted new front and rear stabilizers, as well as a new set of 19" wheels and high-performance brakes.
So how much is the car going to cost with all the modifications included? This big boy will set customers’ back €125,270, which is about $164,000 based on current exchange rates.
Hennessey is one of our favorite supercar builders of all times. Its engineers take cars that are already exciting, like the Lotus Elise, and turn them into monsters, like the Venom GT. Hennessey has again broken its own mold by taking a Cadillac CTS-V, an already bad-ass ride, and converting it into the VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupe.
This monster is fresh off of the press too, as Hennessey has just revealed all of its features and specifications. As expected from Hennessey, it produces incredible horsepower, torque, and speed numbers, plus it boasts extreme body modifications.
The real test is whether this VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupe really belongs in the Hennessey lineup and if it’s prepared to slay the likes of the Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Aventador, and the rest of the top supercars.

The Cadillac CTS-V is already one of the most bad-ass Cadillacs every built and one of the most awesome luxury cars available. It’s supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine pumps out a stout 556 horsepower and 551 pound-feet of torque straight from the dealer. The Cadillac CTS-V’s history started back in 2008 and hit a monstrous peak when it became the first production four-door on street tires to break the legendary eight-minute barrier at Germany’s famed Nurburgring. In four years, the CTS-V sedan has managed to steal many customers from its German competitors due to its stylish look and exceptional performance. The 2013 model year will continue the success laid out in the previous model years with only minor additions to increase function.
For 2013, the CTS-V will continue being powered by the 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers a total of 556 HP and a peak torque of 551 lb.-ft. of torque - the most powerful engine in Cadillac’s history. The engine is mated to either a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual with a dual-disc clutch or a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted shift controls. The only changes will be the addition of two-piece front brake rotors and red Brembo brake calipers.
These performance adjustments will also come with a new exterior color - Glacier Blue Metallic - as well as a few exterior changes such as a larger grille to enable more air intake and a raised hood that encompasses the supercharged engine beneath it.

Anytime you have a car that can be rightfully named after the US military’s missile defense system, then you must be doing something incredible.
This 2010 Cadillac CTS-V is called the Patriot Missile, and by all indication, it does justice to that awesome nickname. What was once a supercharged 2010 CTS-V was taken in by the folks over at D3 Cadillac for some serious custom work involving the installation of D3’s own Stage 4 Tuner Power Kit.
To prep the matte-silver CTS-V Patriot Missile for the increased horsepower output, D3 Cadillac went and upgraded the car’s cooling system while also installing a new aluminum radiator with an improved core, and a bigger intercooler and intercooler pump. Add that to an enhanced supercharger, new spark plugs, new exhaust headers, and a reprogrammed ECU and you have a car that produces a ridiculous 700 horsepower and 700 lb/ft of torque.
The final touches to this rocket-like CTS-V include a new suspension system that comes with D3 Cadillac-spec KW Variant 3 coilovers, adjustable endlinks, chassis bracing, D3 Cadillac sway bars, and a new set of Toyo Proxes R888 tires.
UPDATE 05/01/2012: So what does D3 do when they have 1500 HP Caddy’s itching to get put on the open road? They hand the keys to INDY Car driver J.R. Hildebrand and Formula D driver Tyler McQuarrie, of course! These two racers took these 1,500 horsepower luxury cars down to the Long Beach street circuit and stretched out these Caddy’s legs a little.

The days when 1,000 horsepower cars were nothing more than myths and figments of our imagination are long gone. These days, they’re bringing thrown around like water balloons on a hot summer afternoon. Okay, it still doesn’t happen as often, but you get the point.
Over the past few days, we learned that two Cadillac CTS-V Coupes headed to the ultimate showcase of automotive excess, the SEMA Auto Show, will serve notice to the aftermarket industry that these bad boys are not be messed with. We already covered the V1000 Martin a few days ago so now it’s time for us to introduce the ’Le Monstre.’
As the work of the "D3 Group," the CTS-V Le Monstre takes its name from the 1950 Cadillac Coupe Series 61, a car that competed in the 24 Hours of LeMans way back when in the 50’s. Fast forward six decades later and the namesake will surely make its predecessor proud.
This Cadillac sports coupe was named ’Le Monstre’ for a reason, and that reason takes shape through a heavily modified 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine that was turned into 7.0-liter engine with matching upgraded internals. The result is a powertrain that packs a walloping 1,001 horsepower and 1,000 lb/ft of torque. Ay, caramba!
To allow the car to look and handle as well as it should given the significant spike in output, the D3 Group also gave the CTS-V Coupe a a stealthy Matte Black wrap courtesy of Wraptivo, a custom wide-body kit, an upgraded chassis and suspension system, and a new set of 20" wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes T1R UHP tires.
Talk about living up to your ’Le Monstre’ monicker.
The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe is a fast car in its own right, thanks to it carrying a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that produces 556 horsepower and 551 lb/ft of torque. But what happens when 556 and 551 just aren’t enough? Well, you turn up the heat and pack more performance. Hello Cadillac CTS-V Coupe "Martin V1000" by Martin Technologies!
Speaking of power, there’s a reason why this car was codenamed the ’Martin V1000.’ It’s powered by a 7.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that produces a mind-blowing 1,000 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 900 lb/ft torque at 5,500 rpm, good enough figures to post a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds with a top speed that goes well north of 200 mph.
To go with all that unmistakable power, Martin Technologies made sure that the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe looked about as good as any car with that much power should. So they dressed up the CTS-V Coupe with a Martin Technologies-designed body kit that comprises of two rear pieces, two rockers, a front chin spoiler, a rear decklid spoiler, and a set of custom 22" three-piece custom wheels and tires.
With all these modifications in tow, it’s no wonder why the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe "Martin V1000" Edition is garnering so much attention. Awesome good looks notwithstanding, the car’s modified, 1,000 horsepower engine is enough reason to make clients reach for their checkbooks when they see the car at the 2011 SEMA Auto Show.
After showing the world what a CTS Coupe could look like, the next logical step for the Cadillac family was to add a factory tuned V-Series version of the new Coupe to the American luxury automaker’s range. The CTS-V Coupe will be the last version in the CTS lineup with no convertible model currently scheduled for production.
Just like the award winning Cadillac CTS-V, the Coupe is powered by an LSA 6.2 Liter supercharged Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 V8 that makes a maximum output of 556 HP and 551 lb-ft of torque and is mated to either a Tremec TR6060 six speed manual with a twin plate clutch to handle the extra horse power or a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six speed automatic complete with paddle shifters on the steering wheel that allow you to push button your way from 0 to 60 MPH in only 3.9 seconds.
The exterior of this sporty coupe features a modified front grill that essentially doubles the CTS’s air intake volume as well as a raised center section in the hood to provide room for the blower that eventually spits spent gasses out of a unique twin tipped center exit exhaust. However the CTS-V Coupe is capped off by the 19 inch cast aluminum alloys that are available in either painted or polished finishes and wrapped with a set of sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 2 performance tires, all housing a monstrous set of Brembo brake calipers. We just hope they have enough spare parts left over to make a couple CTS-V Sport Wagons.

UPDATE 08/29/11: According to Cadillac, the breadth of technology that was used on the CTS-V represents a significant breakthrough in the industry, especially their so-called "Magnetic Ride Control Technology." Exactly how much of an innovation is it? Apparently, enough to even make Ferrari borrow it. Check out the new Cadillac commercial explaining how it all happened.
