The Cadillac Escalade has always been a love-it-or-hate-it type of vehicle, thanks to its awesome styling but terrible fuel economy. Sales have been falling off lately and incoming CAFÉ regulations are really putting the squeeze on GM to increase the overall fuel economy of its sole luxury automaker. This led to talks of the Escalade getting the axe in coming years, but apparently GM is not ready to throw in the towel yet.
Reports are pointing to an all-new Cadillac Escalade arriving in 2014 as an early-2015 model year. Instead of Caddy going the direction that many other SUV builders have gone, it will keep the Escalade on a truck frame, whereas many builders are changing SUVs to sit upon car platforms. This means that the 2015 Escalade will ride on the same platform as the soon-to-be released new Chevy Silverado and Sierra.
Unfortunately, we have nothing to really offer except speculation on the incoming Chevy and GMC trucks, as we have only seen heavily camouflaged models. All we can say for certain is that the Cadillac will share the same platform as its pickup brethren. Some experts are anticipating a change in the Silverado/Sierra twins that rivals the 1996 space shuttle treatment that the F-150 received. If this is the case, we can also expect a vastly redesigned Escalade.
We also know that GM has to work on the fuel economy of this luxury SUV to help it meet CAFÉ regulations in the future and the 18 highway mpg that the 2012 Escalade gets is simply not going to cut it. Look for GM to develop an engine that rivals the Ford’s EcoBoost V-6, like the 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine that has been mentioned, and toss it into the Escalade. The only other option would be to go turbo diesel, which may not sit well with Cadillac owners.
We will continue to bring you more information as it becomes available on the upcoming 2015 Escalade.

Many years ago, you may recall hopping in grandpap’s Eldorado, Fleetwood, or Deville and taking a nice cushiony ride on the highway. When the Northstar engine came about in the mid-1990s we all started to see Cadillacs actually putting out some respectable performance numbers to go along with their couch-like ride. The lid started coming off of the Cadillac performance sedans in 2003, when the automaker released the CTS. In 2004, when the 400-horsepower CTS-V came out, all hell broke loose.
By the 2012 model year, the CTS-V had morphed into a 556-horsepower, supercharged sub-supercar. For some people, however, 556 horsepower just isn’t quite enough. This is where the Cadillac tuners at D3 come into play, literally. They took two CTS-Vs and converted them into 1,500-horsepower supercars that are primed to bring havoc upon any road they are on.
So what does D3 do? They hand the keys to INDY Car driver J.R. Hildebrand and Formula D driver Tyler McQuarrie, of course! These two racers took these 1,500 horsepower luxury cars down to the Long Beach street circuit and stretched out these Caddy’s legs a little.
By stretching their legs we mean smoldering the tires to oblivion and getting it on video (above). The tire smoldering and supercharger whining is aplenty in these videos, but there is one thing that is slightly more impressive. An amateur video was also released that showed the cameramen filming these two Caddys and watching these dudes put their bodies at risk just to get a good shot. That takes a rather big brass set, if you ask us; an even bigger set than playing with a few CTS-Vs on ‘roids.

Justin Bieber’s Cadillac CTS-V Coupe "Batmobile" to be featured in finale of "Inside West Coast Customs"
Justin Bieber is one lucky cat. Not only is his face tacked on the walls of just about every teenage girl’s room in this country - which we don’t particularly care for - but he’s also parlayed his millions into a growing stable of exotic supercars.
One of these exotics, a tricked-out Cadillac CTS-V Coupe that he affectionately calls his "Batmobile," was customized by noted American tuning company West Coast Customs and will be featured in the finale of its show, Inside West Coast Customs on November 6, 2011. The building process behind this Caddy will be prominently featured on the show, but if you can’t wait for it to be aired, you can find out a preview of it right here.
What initially started as a red CTS-V Coupe was eventually turned into a matte black piece of stealthy American bad-assery. Since it’s owned by the Biebs himself, it was important to have the car have its own ’JB’ badges. The car also gets suicide doors that add even more personality to Bieber’s American sports car. As far as the interior of the Caddy "Batmobile" is concerned, West Coast Customs did the honors and dressed up the car in black leather and suede with matching purple stitching, JB logos decked in Swarovski crystals, and an extensive sound system that fits into Bieber’s vibrant and larger-than-life personality.
Ryan Friedlinghaus, CEO of West Coast Customs, couldn’t have been more thrilled with how the build turned out. "It’s not every day the world’s most influential and powerful teen sensation comes into my shop," he said.
"Together, we created something that Justin didn’t have — the sickest CTS-V on Earth, that even exceeded Justin’s expectations."
Check out the season finale of Inside West Coast Customs at 8 pm on Sunday November 6, 2011 on Velocity.
For automakers, there’s nothing better than showing up at the debut for one of your automobiles and getting a top notch award for your hard work. Aston Martin, Cadillac, and Ford will vouch for that since their One-77, Ciel Concept, and Focus Plug-In Electric Vehicle were all given best in show awards at the 41st annual South Florida International Auto Show (SFIAS) by the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA). SAMA had to choose between many of the participants in Miami, but in the end, these vehicles were chosen because of their styling and marketability.
The Aston Martin One-77 was awarded the “Star of the Show” trophy because the nine-member SAMA judging panel decided it was the single vehicle on display at the show that South Floridians will most want to see. Other vehicles considered for the award were the Audi A7, the Lexus GS sedan, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Toyota Camry, the Range Rover Evoque, and the Hyundai Veloster.
The Cadillac Ciel Concept was given the Best Concept Vehicle in the Show because of its stunning beauty and because SAMA considered it a forerunner of future Cadillac styling. Meanwhile, the Ford Focus Plug-In Electric Vehicle took home the “Best Green Technology Vehicle” in the show because of the fact that it is Ford’s first non-emissions, plug-in electric car to be mass produced and marketed in the United States. Other vehicles considered were the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, the Toyota Prius V, and various manufacturers’ hybrid and clean diesel technology vehicles.
The South Florida International Auto Show (SFIAS) runs until November 6, 2011, so stop by the Miami Beach Convention Center to check out these award-winning models.
This week’s episode of Top Gear is probably the most disgusting episode we have ever seen. The guys were faced with the challenge of finding the best car for $500 and driving them 500 miles from Santa Monica to Twin Peaks in San Francisco. At first, we could only imagine just how crappy these cars were, then the Top Gear crew let us know.
In addition to the foul $500 car challenge, Ruttledge Wood was given the chance to review the scintillating Cadillac CTS-V in all three body styles: coupe, sedan, and wagon. The wagon was by far Rutt’s favorite and he was absolutely clear on that.
We were also treated to Maroon 5’s Adam Levine as he cruised around the Top gear test track in the show’s Suzuki SX4. His driving may not have been top notch, but he was extremely successful at cursing up a storm.

Now that the buzz of SEMA 2010 is quietly dying down, the auto world will now set its attention to the forthcoming LA Auto Show on November 19th.
One brand that’s scheduled to be in attendance is Cadillac and it’s just come to our attention that the automaker will be bringing an all-new concept car to the City of Angels.
Not surprisingly, the company has kept mum on what kind of car this is going to be so all your guesses are going to be as good as ours. Short of saying, we don’t know what it’s going to be. It could be anything really – maybe it’s even the Aera Concept (pictured above) that they’ve entered at the auto show’s Design Challenge – but for now, all we’ve got are tons of speculation.
In some ways, it’s a good thing not knowing what to expect because it keeps that element of surprise at a high-level. Who knows, these guys might be bringing a car that’s going to revolutionize the world. Highly unlikely, we know, but that’s the beauty of being in the dark when it comes to concept vehicles.
The Monticello Motor Club was quite the scene recently when a plethora of supercars converged for the first annual Drift with the Supercars event. Yes, people, drifting supercars with a chalk full of donuts to boot. Burning rubber never smelled so good.
One of the cars that showed up for the event was the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe and while it didn’t have the cache that of all the Ferraris, Porsches, and Mercedes’ in attendance, the CTS-V Coupe made certain that it would leave more than just its tread marks on the competition, winning the title of Best Drift in New Car. Who said that a two-door luxury coupe couldn’t hang with the exotics?
Fortunately for us, a video of the CTS-V Coupe’s drift run was shared by the gracious organizers, giving us a complete look at the Caddy in all its tire-screeching, rubber-burning, title-winning run.
That’s how the Caddy rolls, baby!
General Motors has announced that they will be recalling over 20,000 2009-2010MYs of the Cadillac CTS and CTS-V over what appears to be dangerous glove box compartments.
Of all the parts of a car’s interior, we didn’t know that glove compartments could poise such a threat to the safety of a front seat passenger. But as it turns out, the NHTSA ran some tests and determined that during a frontal crash where the front passenger isn’t wearing a seatbelt, there’s a greater risk of sustaining a leg injury due to the faulty glove box. Needless to say, tests or no tests, front passengers should never leave home without putting on their seatbelts.
For their part, General Motors is issuing the recall and will replace all glove box assembly for all 20,224 affected models at no cost to the customer. The recall is expected to start on or before October 20, 2010 and owners that have cars affected by the recall are encouraged to contact Cadillac at 1.866-982-2339.
We don’t know if General Motors is jumping the gun with their increasing excitement or if the market interest for the new Cadillac CTS Coupe is stronger than any of us anticipated. Either way, GM announced that their new flagship coupe is already being produced at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant and, on top of that, they’ve bumped the vehicle’s expected shipping schedule sooner than the expected August dealership date.
Whatever their reasoning is, prospective customers for the CTS Coupe must be grinning from ear to ear right now. Not only do they get the car they’ve been waiting for ahead of schedule, but they’re also given an option to purchase the CTS Coupe with either a 3.6-liter V6 engine with direct injection that produces 304 horsepower ($38,990) or an upgraded version – the CTS-V Coupe – with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine ($62,990).
Not that we’re complaining ourselves, because to be honest, we’ve had our eye on this car for quite some time and now that it’s dealership drop date has been scheduled earlier than announced, it should give us a clearer understanding of everything we need to know about the car sooner than expected.
As the German luxury brands continue to make their mark in the United States, Cadillac has been left a little behind. In order to bring customers back to the brand the company will join its rivals and offer free maintenance.
Cadillac has made it known that its wants to be a true premium luxury brand, with the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. Cadillac has even gone as far as hiring people from the Ritz-Carlton to train their sales team in customer service.
Now, following an announcement from fellow domestic luxury brand Lincoln that they would offer free maintenance, Cadillac will follow suit.
The program will be called Cadillac Premium Care Maintenance and it will cover oil changes, tire rotations, replacement of engine and cabin air filters, and a multi-point vehicle inspection. Cadillac hopes that this plan will bring more customers to the showrooms.
Like Lincoln, Cadillac’s program will extend for the first 4 years or 50,000 miles. You must buy your Cadillac between now and Labor Day to qualify for the free service.
The CTS has been the company’s biggest seller for a while now, but this year, sales of the SRX have been soaring. That being said, CTS sales are down 14 percent so far this year.
Hit the jump for the press release.
The writing is officially on the wall.
Despite an overwhelmingly glowing response when it was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show last year, the Cadillac Converj and all its production plans have been laid to rest.
While a lot of us are pretty disappointed to hear that the Converj never even made it past the concept line, General Motors doesn’t seem to be all that affected with Cadillac spokesman Nick Twork even saying that the Converj was nothing more than just a concept. “It was never announced officially that we were going to do the Converj. We never issued a press release," he said.

Add this to our growing list of pseudo Batmobiles patrolling the streets of the world these days.
A few days after the new 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe was unveiled at the LA Auto Show, one of its predecessors – the CTS-V - was spotted miles away in Pasadena sporting the Caped Crusader’s insignia on the car’s hood, trunk, and side-view mirror.
We didn’t know that Batman has a taste for a Cadillac CTS-V, but it sure would be fun if he showed up one night in the streets of Gotham – or in this case, Pasadena – running down criminals on this bad boy.
As expected, the Cadillac CTS-V dominated the challenge that bears its own name after seven of the top 12 fastest laps recorded came from the CTS-V.
Guess that means GM boss Bob Lutz will have to eat crow at another day.
The CTS-V’s dominance was apparent from start to finish. Six of the top seven cars were CTS-Vs, with the notable exception being a BMW M3 Sedan owned by one Michael Cooper, which placed fourth in the overall standings. Bagging the top spot was former GM Performance Division Executive, John Henricy after posting a lap time of 2m and 46.56s.
As for Bob Lutz, his lap time earned him a seventh place finish with a fastest lap time of 2m and 56.231 seconds, although it’s worth mentioning that out of all the CTVs that finished in the top 12, his finished second to last, beating the CTS-V driven by Chris Fairman (10th overall) with a fastest lap time of 3m 14.292s
Well Bob Lutz laid down his V-Series Challenge and Cadillac seems to have retained their title of the world’s fastest sport sedan, with a little help from their friends of course. Owners of factory tuned fast four doors were invited to the Monticello Motor Club just outside of New York City and take on the CTS-V in a fast lap competition against the General Motors Vice Chairman, Bob Lutz, as well as a few seasoned racers and friends of GM like Brian Redman, Aaron Link and John Heinricy. Throwing a wrench into Cadillac’s plans was Skip Barber graduate Michael Cooper and his four door BMW M3, although the New York native is no professional, he did manage to finish right behind GM’s trio of road course ringers. Either way Cadillac did prove that the CTS-V can go fast, even with Bob Lutz behind the wheel, and everyone in attendance had more than they can seem to remember. In a time where consumers are more concerned with efficiency than outright lap times, it is nice to see that there are still automaker’s that are giving high performance driving enthusiasts exactly what they are asking for. Even more importantly, it shows that they still know how to have fun.
It may look like an earth-dwelling submarine to most, but the Spectre Speedliner was created for one reason and one reason only: to break the land speed record for a gasoline powered, wheel-driven, streamliner.
Thanks in large part to months and months of testing, as well as a monstrous Cadillac V8 engine that comes with a pair of intercooled 88mm turbochargers, customized forged rods, a solid roller cam, ported, heads, and a slew of oversized valves. The result of this mammoth concoction is an engine that can produce up to 2000 horsepower. That’s right. 2000.
So, armed with a powerful engine, the Spectre Speedliner set out for the Bonneville Salt Flats with the intention of becoming the fastest gas-powered, wheel-driven streamliner in the world. After a few runs, the Speedliner finally achieved its goal, clocking in at a speed of 330.7 mph become the new standard-bearer among wheel-driven gas-powered streamliners.
One of the principals behind the project, Amir Rosenbaum, was understandably ecstatic about the team’s crowning achievement. “We’re very proud and extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication all our crew members logged over the past few months to make this happen.” From our end, we’d like to congratulations the boys over at Spectre for claiming a new record. Here’s to hoping that it stands the test of time.

The luxury arm of the American automaker Gerneral Motors, Cadillac has just revealed a new promotional video that shows off the retailer’s offering sfor next year. The video is part NASA and part Area 51, with a group of anxious onlookers awaiting on just the other side of the fence from what appears to be a military installation. When the hanger doors open up the entire 2010 Cadillac lineup shoots out and into the unknown, appearing as if it is about to set a land speed record, the 2010 CTS tranforms into a CTS sport wagon and then a new SRX crossover. However the fat lady doesn’t sing until the all new CTS coupe makes an appearance, a car that will be in showrooms by next summer. Not only does the video highlight the automaker’s 2010 lineup, but it also gives the car maker a newfound sense of speed, style and innovation; something that every car builder needs right about now.
If you’re the type who has always wondered what kind of car the US president rides on, then you should head out to your local bookstore and buy ‘President’s Secret Service: Behind the Scenes with Agents in the Line of Fire and the Presidents They Protect’.
While the book doesn’t entirely dwell on cars, it does provide a detailed look at the official presidential ride: a 2009 Cadillac limousine.
Naturally, a car that had the president of the United States inside should be far from ordinary, and this particular Cadillac limousine is unlike any other. The car, which has been coined as ‘The Beast’, was built on top of a GMC truck chassis making it tougher and stronger than most limos out on the road these days.
Lexus should scoot to the side and make room for the luxury American automaker Cadillac, because the GM-owned car brand tied Toyota’s luxury line in the most recent customer satisfaction survey that was done by the University of Michigan. The survey measures the level of customer satisfaction achieved by each brand and as far as this year is concerned, Cadillac, which placed second last year to Lexus, scored an 89 in the American Customer Satisfaction Index, the same score given to the long-reigning champion.
Tying for third place were Buick and Lincoln-Mercury, two beleaguered brands that seemed to have made quite a recovery by posting an approval score of 88. Joining the two in third is Honda, which also scored 88. Overall, American brands improved their standings this year by scoring an overall mark of 83, although it was still lower than what the Asian automakers received a score of 84 and even further than what the European carmakers got an 88.
