There were not yet so many details known over the Junior, the car that will be used by Alfa Romeo to attack not only the Mini but also Renault Clio and the Volkswagen Polo. We can report now a little new details over the car. The most important news over the Junior concerned the design, which will be inspired from the Alfa Romeo 8C competizione as we can see from the released sketch.

Sources within Alfa Romeo suggest that the back of the smallest car within the range will use shapes from Alpha Romeo 8C Competizione and will get round teil-lights just like the Italian supercar.

The car should have a retro-styling considering in the pasta Alfa Rome used "junior" as a neme for a car.

We also heard about a sport-version called "4C" who should combat Mini Cooper S, Renault Clio RS and Volkswagen Polo GTI.That should be normal as we know that a new 1.8 JTB engine with direct injection and 220 horses is ready to provide the power for the new hot-hatch.

Also we now know more over the introduction date of the model:the IAA in Frankfurt (11-29 September),will be used Alfa Romeo to present the Junior. We must wait for the car to come in showrooms in the summer of 2008.

The Junior will have prices within the region of the present 147.As we told you before Alfa Romeo will have to show the successor of the 147, a bigger car than the currently entry-level model.

The Junior will use the platform of the Fiat Grande Punto, (measuring less than 4 metres) and will have the base engines of the 147 model. So we have to expect the 1.4 turbo 8v petrol-engine and 1.9 JTD for the diesel versions under the hood. The price should be less than 20000$ with a the top model using a 150hp 1,4 engine. The car will most certaine use a front wheel technology as we know the Italian maker.
