Audi is preparing the launch of its new A5, both Coupe and Convertible version. A5 is a larger coupe slotted in between the BMW 3-series and the BMW 6-series, competing directly with the Mercedes-Benz CLK. The A5 will be arriving in Europe in the spring of 2007 and a few months later in the US.

The new A5 will be powered by a 4.2 liter V8 engine and will feature three transmissions—a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic or an updated version of the DSG gearbox.

About a year after the A5 coupe goes on sale, a convertible version will arrive. The new A5 Convertible will will replace the current A4 Cabriolet in the Audi lineup.
