Our German writer caught the 2009 BMW Z4 at a gas station in Germany. And of course he had his camera with him and took a few shots.

We know you already saw the 2009 BMW Z4, but one important thing to notice is that this spy photos show a soft top version of the Z4, so this means that BMW is working on both hard and soft versions?

The 2009 Z4 will have three different choices of engines, and another one more powerful coming after. The first one is a 2.0-litre direct-injection with an output of 185 hp. The second one is a direct-injection 2.5-litre Inline-6 with a power of 231 hp. The third one is a Turbocharged 3.0-litre direct-injection rated at 321 hp. The more powerful one is a high-revving normally aspirated 4.0-litre V8 with an output of 450bhp.

What do you think?

I’d rather save 2 or $3,000 and buy the soft top version so I hope BMW will offer both top option.

Another argument is that convertible are not really convertible without soft top. Ok it is more convenient but a nice soft top still look cool to me. and remember it was not so long ago almost all American maker would offer their sedan car with a fake soft top material smiley
