BMW has plans to launch a roadster priced bellow the current Z4 (priced at $36295). The succesor of the Z4, called Z2 will be priced at $30000 and will come to compete against the Audi TT, Porsche Boxster, Nissan 350Z, and Chevrolet Corvette.

The Z2 will be based on the chassis and components of the current Z4, but it will measure a mere 151 inches in length, making it about 10 inches shorter than today’s Z4.

The Z2 will be powered by a four-cylinder with an output of 150 hp, for the base version and a turbocharged 300-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the M-tuned version.

The new "made-in-America BMW Z2" will go on sale in 2010.
