Just last month BMW released images of the 2011 5-Series midsize luxury sedan, so only one new moon later renderings of the next generation BMW M5->ke2922 have started to make their way onto the internet, well before its scheduled reveal in 2010.

Due to a variety of reasons ranging from the credit crunch to stringent CAFE standards, BMW will drop the exotic high revving V10 from their flagship 5 Series as part of their downsizing efforts and replace it with a tuned version of the compact 4.4 Liter twin turbocharged V8 that is already found under the hood of the X6M and X5M sport activity vehicles. Despite the lack of displacement, making power should not be an issue, with the boosted BMW eight cylinder slated to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 HP. No matter what the future M5 looks like or what it has under the hood, just like all M5s that came before, the next generation model is guaranteed to be a high performance icon for years to come.
