Just last month BMW released images of the 2011 5-Series midsize luxury sedan, so only one new moon later renderings of the next generation BMW M5 have started to make their way onto the internet, well before its scheduled reveal in 2010.

Due to a variety of reasons ranging from the credit crunch to stringent CAFE standards, BMW will drop the exotic high revving V10 from their flagship 5 Series as part of their downsizing efforts and replace it with a tuned version of the compact 4.4 Liter twin turbocharged V8 that is already found under the hood of the X6M and X5M sport activity vehicles. Despite the lack of displacement, making power should not be an issue, with the boosted BMW eight cylinder slated to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 HP. No matter what the future M5 looks like or what it has under the hood, just like all M5s that came before, the next generation model is guaranteed to be a high performance icon for years to come.

Of course they will not admit that they’ve got some problems on that car that’s why it’s rendered for 2010 and not the CAFE standard alibi. Of course we have some leakers who relayed to us that information about the BMW M5 modification but it’s a good move for them to do that and not like the roof issue of Corvette that don’t have proper QC.

BMW M5 development is underway and will arrive a year after the regular 5-series.

looks pretty darn good to me. and yes it will be a performance icon for years to come, that’s for damn sure. only problem with this rendering its that the cars rims are too big, and the car itself sits too low in the ground. a very good rendering though.
