BMW will unveil the new 5-Series in 2009, with the M version appearing the next year. According to the latest spy shots, the M5 will lose the current 5.0-liter V10 in favor of a new twin-turbo V8. But don't worry, the output will still be bigger than in the current M5.

The new V8 is said to be a tuned version of the engine used in the X6, sending around 540bhp to the rear wheels. Other features on the future M5 will include direct fuel injection and a seven-speed twin-clutch transmission.
