• 2012 Dallara IndyCar Concepts

The IndyCar Series will be getting its fair share of changes when the 2012 season rolls around with the most notable of which being the entry of Dallara as the official chassis manufacturer of the racing series.

As early as this week, the company has presented two new concepts of what the 2012 IndyCar racer will look like. Using the same chassis but with a different design, the two concepts have differing set-ups, one being set-up for oval racing while the other being prepared for road circuits. Dallara went with this presentation to show teams the lengths of which aerodynamic modifications on the car can be done while still sticking with the current set of car regulations handed down by the series’ governing body.

Both concepts are still in the testing and development phase so expect some changes – whatever they may be – to come when the race car concepts are put through the paces out on the track. Above everything else, Dallara is making safety and technological performance the top priorities in the development of the 2012 IndyCar racer.

For now, you can check out the two concepts and you let us know what you think about them in the comments section below.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read full bio

hmm. I wonder on what’s the weight of the car? There’s a possibility that we can still this car lined up for the future production of Dallara. I hope to read updates for this.

It’s great to see a racing bred vehicle! I bet this formula theme car would be a speedy vehicle though I didn’t know its speed performance.

I think it is really a good idea for the IndyCar Race to use a standardized chassis, that one would certainly level the playing field. Though they still need to get the teams to agree.

Well, I think that they have already taken that one into consideration. So it is most likely that they have chosen a chassis type that would be able to handle the needs of the cars.

Hmm, these two does look good. But I wonder how the teams will take this change on. As far as I know, some of the teams have a favored chassis make, so this might be an issue.

I just wonder of they are going to use a aluminum or carbon fiber material for the chassis? I still can’t visualize the look of this concept racing car but I have a feeling that it would be powerful since they have a plan in changing some set up for this car including on how will it run in the oval race track.

Well, since the figure performance of this car wasn’t announced yet, I will comment on how it looks. IMO, the Caterham car looks better than this. I think its kind off over detailing. I can tell that there are a lot of parts that makes it bloat loaded! I just hope that it would affect the performance on the race.
