The seventh generation Chevrolet Corvette has been officially confirmed to make its world debut on January 13, 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show. Until then, Chevrolet->ke199 has promised to tease us with some images and videos each week.

It's now time for a new teaser image! Unfortunately, the image reveals almost nothing, but at least we know the car is on its way. The image, which Chevy released via Twitter, shows the Corvette hidden beneath a car cover, leaving way too much to the imagination.

As you probably have learned by now, the C7 Corvette->ke4579 will be powered by a new 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 engine that will deliver a total of 450 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 450 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm -- an increase of 20 horsepower and 26 pound-feet of torque over the current V-8 engine.

In other C7 Corvette news, everyone expected the new Corvette to be offered with GM's new 8A eight-speed automatic transmission. However, MotorTrend is reporting that GM will not finish developing the new transmission by the car's official debut in Detroit, so initially the C7 Corvette will be offered with an Aisin eight-speed transmission. Apparently, the two companies have signed a a short-term agreement and as a result, GM's rear-drive models -- the ATS and the next CTS -- will be offered with the Aisin transmission for about one year.
