2016 Ford Focus RS Testing At Nurburgring: Video
The awesome 2016 Ford Focus RS may have launched at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March, but the Blue Oval has yet to finalize the hot-hatch for its future customers. At least that’s how I’d explain the car’s recent trip to the Nurburgring track, the place where all performance vehicles are taken for development and honing.
Even though the footage courtesy of YouTube user "cvdzijden" is rather short, it shows a black Focus RS as it is being put through it paces. There’s even a bit of drifting action, which suggests the drivers was instructed to test the hatchback to its limits. This is likely the Focus RS’ final appearance on the "Green Hell," as the hot-hatch is being readied to go on sale later this year.
As a brief reminder, the 2016 Focus RS is powered by a 2.3-liter, EcoBoost, four-cylinder taken straight out of the 2015 Mustang. Specific output figures are still a mystery, but Ford claims the four-pot will crank out "well in excess of 316 horsepower." One of its main highlights is the all-wheel-drive system, which can send up to 70 percent of the available torque to the rear axle.
Pricing is likely to start anywhere between $35,000 and $40,000, which would put the Focus RS in the same ballpark as the Volkswagen Golf R. Stay tuned for info, we’ll be back as soon as we have it.
