2016 2016 Ford Mustang Configurator Lets You Create The GT350R You Dream

The order books are now open for the 2016 Ford Mustang, which means you are now able to waste away your afternoon configuring your dream 2016 Shelby GT350 or Shelby GT350R. For me, it’s the Shadow Black GT350R with the black and red racing stripes, but there are numerous color options available for both cars and a handful of options. Check it out – just make sure your boss isn’t around.

More than just a waste of time, though, the configurator also reveals the pricing of both high-performance Mustang->ke428 variants The 2016 Shelby GT350 will start at $47,795, while the track-oriented 2016 Shelby GT350R will be priced at $61,295. At these prices, the GT350 is about $1,000 more than the less-powerful 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT 392, and the GT350R is about $13,000 less expensive than the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.

When it comes to options, the GT350 can be equipped with the $6,500 Track Package that includes features such as MagneRide Damping System, aluminum strut tower brace, heavy-duty front springs, a raised decklid spoiler and oil coolers for the engine, transmission and rear differential. The $7,500 Technology Package adds a few of these upgrades, but like its name suggests, it mainly focuses on improving the cabin with features that include a seven-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats, dual zone automatic climate control and the latest Sync technology with voice-activated navigation. The downside of this package is that it isn’t available with the Recaro racing seats – drivers will have to settle for leather buckets.

Looking at the GT350R, it comes standard with all of the Track Package upgrades, so the sole option package is the $3,000 Electronics Package, with all of the tech goodies mentioned above in the GT350’s Tech Package. Both cars can have racing stripes for an extra $475, while a black-painted roof is $695.

As far as the non-Shelby Mustangs->ke1359 go, the biggest news for the 2016 Mustang is the debut of the California Special, which be a $1,995 option on the Mustang GT and Mustang GT convertible->ke144.
