We’re big fans of the latest seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette, even naming the 650-horse monster machine Z06 our Performance Car of the Year when it was first released in 2014. But now that we’re three years into production, its time for a little refresh. As such, the Bowtie is shaking up the options list, while keeping that old bargain pricing static.

Updates for the 2018 model year include a slew of aesthetic changes, as well as a few updates to the performance side of things. Outside, you’ll find standard staggered wheel sizing with an extra inch in diameter (20 inches in back, 19 inches in front). The new wheels come from the Z51 package, and there are new wheel designs on the table as well. A new Ceramic Matrix Gray exterior paint option replaces the outgoing Sterling Blue. Improvements inside include updates for the heads-up display and rearview camera, while the infotainment now comes with HD digital radio as standard. New interior colors were added to the 2LT trim level, while a Spice Red finish was added to the convertible top colors list. Spice Red was also added to the list of interior finishes for the 3LT and 3LZ trim levels. Go for the Jet Black suede interior, and you’ll get carbon fiber on the steering wheel and various trim bits. Finally, the 3LT and 3LZ trims get new stitching packages, including red, yellow, and new blue. Read on for details on the go-fast stuff.

New Wheels, Colors, And Trims – But What About Performance?

Track rats will be happy to hear that the highly desirable Magnetic Ride Control suspension is now a stand-alone option, which is great for those buyers looking to get the most from their ‘Vette when it comes to apex hunting. What’s more, the Performance Data Recorder/Cosworth Toolbox now comes with four new data channels, including inputs for individual wheel speed, individual suspension displacements, yaw rate measurements, and temperature readings for the intake air and ambient air.

It also bears mentioning that Chevy is hoping to implement a fix for the Z06 after it was revealed that many customers experienced major overheating issues when pushing it on the track. Hopefully the issue will be resolved going forward.
