2019 Hyundai Veloster Teased Again: Video
The countdown has started ahead of its February 20 debutby Kirby, on
The arrival of the all-new Hyundai Veloster is fast approaching — Hyundai has scheduled February 20th as the debut date - and, as with most hyped car debuts, teaser videos usually pop up ahead of its official launch. To date, there have already been two teaser videos for the new Veloster, including this one that Hyundai released a few days before Christmas.
The next-gen model will have a more mainstream look to it than its quirky predecessor
It’s a relatively short teaser and one that doesn’t reveal too much about the coming hatchback. We do see a good deal of the new Veloster’s side profile and, from earlier spy photos we’ve shown, it looks certain that the next-gen model will have a more mainstream look to it than its quirky predecessor.
Speaking of quirky, don’t expect the LED display in the teaser to be included in the new Veloster, even as an option. As cool as it looks, I don’t think Hyundai would go that far to develop the new Veloster as a walking billboard. It looks cool in the teaser, but not as much when it rides up beside you on the open road.
We’re still foggy on the technical details of the car, but we do know that the new Veloster will sit on a longer version of Hyundai’s current platform that’s already being used by the Elantra. A pair of turbocharged engines — a 1.4-liter and a 1.6-liter — are also expected to be included in the hatchback, as will a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Oh, and about that February 20 debut. It seems like a random date to make a car debut, but it’s actually an important date in South Korea where the new Veloster is going to make its debut. For those who don’t know, the 2018 Winter Olympics will take place in Pyeongchang County, South Korea from February 9 to 25. Is it possible that Hyundai is timing the all-new Veloster’s debut right smack in the middle of the Winter Olympics? Seems like it.
