This nautical-themed off-roader by the Polish aftermarket company looks exquisite

Carlex is known for its out-of-the-box themes and designs. A couple of months back, the aftermarket company came up with a Yachting Edition of the Mercedes-AMG G63, which was designed for a customer in Dubai. It looks like the design pleased the enthusiasts as well as the folks at Carlex because it has now come up with another Yachting Edition, but this time it is based on the Land Rover Defender. In all honesty, it looks as sweet as the G 63 itself and comes with a lot of new stuff inside, on the outside, and none under the hood.

What Makes The Defender Yachting Edition Special?

The Yachting Edition is based on the Land Rover Defender 110. This five-door off-roader is finished in a brushed silver exterior shade. Although it doesn’t stand out or has too much bling, per se, it looks quite different from the metallic and solid paint colors and that makes it stand out from other Defenders. The Carlex branding can be seen on the tip of the hood and around the C-pillar. The ‘Yachting Edition’ spare wheel cover looks pretty cool and is finished in the body shade itself.

On the inside, it is offered with two themes – one is finished in white upholstery on the seats, dash, door panels, etc. with a lot of wood accents all around, whereas the other one is gold upholstery with brushed silver accent. Although the former is more suited to the theme and looks super classy, the latter theme offers a little more bling and perhaps, a little less maintenance.

No Changes Are Made Under The Hood

The base Defender 110 comes with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged mill that makes 296 ponies and 295 pound-feet of torque. It takes 7.7 seconds to sprint to 60 mph.

The other version is the P400, which has a six-cylinder, turbocharged and supercharged mill that makes 395 horses. It is a mild hybrid unit that comes with a belt-integrated starter motor and a 48-volt lithium-ion battery. With this engine, the Defender takes merely 5.8 seconds to sprint to 60 mph. Thanks to the battery, this engine delivers 29.4 miles per gallon despite being a performance-heavy mill. Both the mills are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
