The Turbo lineup of the 992-generation Porsche 911 debuted with the amazing Turbo S model. Rated at a massive 640 horsepower, the current 911 Turbo S sets new and incredible benchmarks for Porsche's iconic sports car. Now, Porsche rolled out the regular Turbo model, which isn't as powerful, but it shares some upgrades with the Turbo S, and it's a bit more affordable.

Don't think that the Turbo is a lesser Turbo S when it comes to looks because it's not. It also rides on tires that are 10 mm wider front and rear and comes with the big spoiler and the quad exhaust pipe layout. The options list includes the Sport Package, which adds SportDeisgn body parts with carbon-fiber accents and clear taillights.

Again, it's difficult to tell the regular Turbo apart from the Turbo S inside the cabin, but this trim indeed comes with less standard features. But the list includes 14-way adjustable sports seats and a Bose audio system. . You can also opt for tech like lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, night vision assist, surround-view camera, and a Burmester audio system.

The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo isn't as powerful, but it's still amazingly quick

The 911 Turbo draws juice from the same 3.7-liter, twin-turbo flat-six engine that powers the Turbo S, but it's not as powerful. The mill cranks out 572 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, a notable drop from the Turbo S, rated at 640 horses and 590 pound-feet of twist. If you like numbers, the Turbo falls behind the Turbo S by 68 horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque.

For reference, the outgoing version was rated at 540 horses and 523 pound-feet of torque.

The 2021 911 Turbo hits 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, according to Porsche. That's only a tenth-second slower than the Turbo S and quite impressive for a vehicle with less than 600 horsepower. The Turbo Cabriolet is a tenth-second slower at 2.8 clicks. Top speed is rated at 198 mph, a seven-mph drop from the Turbo S' 205-mph rating.

The flat-six engine mates to the same PDK transmission as the Turbo S. It also features the same Porsche Traction Management all-wheel-drive system. The front brake rotors are 28 mm larger in diameter than before, while the ceramic brakes with 10-piston calipers from the Turbo S are available as an option.

The Porsche Active Suspension Management and the rear-wheel steering system are standard, as is the Sport Chrono Package. Porsche offers a sportier suspension and a sport exhaust system.

It might not be as powerful and fast as the Turbo S, but the 911 Turbo is notably more affordable. The coupe model comes in at $170,800, which accounts for a $32,700 drop from the Turbo S' highly expensive sticker. The Turbo Cabriolet starts from $183,600, which is also $32,700 cheaper than the Turbo S Cabriolet.
