If you follow everything revolving around BMW’s cars, you know that every time the Bavarian carmaker brings out a new model, it’s only a matter of time before Alpina makes its own version of it. The Bavarian-based tuning company is operating independently, since 1983 and now, it’s cooking up its own version of BMW’s 4-Series Gran Coupe in the form of the Alpina B4 Gran Coupe, which was recently spied testing.

What we see

The Alpina B4 Gran Coupe has almost entirely ditched the camouflage, hiding only the front splitter area, rear diffuser, and trunk lid. Despite Alpina being a company that modifies BMW models, their approach is more subtle, compared to the M versions. The focus is more on luxury rather than performance, which is why we see a slightly more restrained look.

Visible changes on the side of the Alpina B4 Gran Coupe include new blacked-out wheels, which feature a more traditional five-spoke design, and the simplified black trim piece, which extends from the front fenders to the rear wheel arches. In addition, the chrome trim around the windows has been blacked out to match the black wheels and lower trim piece.

The front apron is much lower and seems to feature a more aggressive front splitter, which is still under wraps. As for the rear, we see that the dark trim pieces at the rear bumper flanks have been removed, in order to achieve a cleaner look.

The rear diffuser now incorporates quad exhaust, as opposed to the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, which has two single exhaust tips on each side. Like the lower section of the rear bumper, the trunk lid is also under wraps, but the integrated rear spoiler is noticeably taller than usual.

The Alpina B4 Gran Coupe is almost production-ready, as seen by the almost complete absence of camouflage. The overall aesthetics seem to be, in typical Alpina fashion, slightly more toned down compared to BMW’s M equivalents. As for the performance specs of the B4 Gran Coupe, for now, we can only say it’s based on the 430ix. We expect to learn details as the car’s official debut, in March 2022, closes in.
