The 2022 Ram TRX is a truck priced at $72,120. We’ve tested it and we think that’s actually a decent price for a truck with so much value and capability. Recently, however, Ram announced the 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition – which is really nothing more than an appearance package for the TRX. And while we generally have nothing against this kind of model, this one comes with a huge price: $98,285, plus $1,795 destination for a total price of $100,800. So what does the Sandblast Edition offer for the extra $27,960?

the RAM TRX Sandblast Edition is nothing more than a special edition model with a cool paint scheme. The model features a unique Mojave Sand exterior finish with contrasting black elements and a unique set of 18-inch all-black beadlock capable wheels. But, that's pretty much it, as everything else is just some very nicely designed logos.

For the cabin, Ram opted for dark leather with contrasting Light Frost stitching. The seat will feature the usual TRX logo, the steering wheel is wrapped in leather with a carbon-fiber flat-bottom. There are also a few other unique carbon fiber accents and specific Sandblast Edition branding. The center console features a unique plaque with the truck's VIN, engine information, horsepower, boost pressure, an American Flag, plus another Sandblast Edition badge. As for safety features, the truck comes with adaptive cruise control, Lane Keep Assist, and pedestrian emergency braking.

The special edition brings no updates under the hood or to the chassis, which means it is powered by the same 6.2-liter, supercharged V-8 HEMI Hellcat engine that churns out 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of twist. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph will be made in 4.5 seconds, while top speed goes up to 118 mph.

Now, the question is how did the price go up this much? Well, the answer might be Ken Block. The famous driver tested the truck last week in Johnson Valley, California and was also involved in the reveal of the vehicle to his millions of fans across his social channels. If you remember, a few days ago he was posting pictures of a mysterious truck on his Instagram account. Well, this is it: the Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition. So, this leads us to raise the question: will people actually pay about $30,000 more for just an exterior paint and Ken Block's relation to the truck?
