It also reveals new air intakes in the front bumper
by Alina Moore, onThe facelift BMW X5 M has been caught testing many times before, including around the famous Nürburgring track. Now, it looks like the SUV dropped some camouflage up front, but at the same time added some to the rear, and it went back to the ring for some more testing.
First of all, as we mentioned, this X5 M prototype started to drop part of its front camouflage, revealing new air intakes in the bumper. The grille is still heavily camouflaged, but we do not expect it to suffer too many changes - maybe some design changes made to the inserts. The headlights are also hidden under the camouflage, but we expect them to be slimmer and to get new-style DRLs.
Second, as we mentioned, this is the first time the X5 M is wearing some camouflage in the rear. While we can’t tell what changes will be made, we can actually spot the new production tail lights underneath the camo.
Some changes will also be made on the interior, where we expect to see the trims and upholstery, but also BMW’s latest iDrive 8 infotainment system.
Rumors suggest that for both the X5 M and the X6 M facelift the biggest update will be made under the hood: BMW will switch over from the current S63 engine to the new S68 V-8 engine. In the production version XM this engine will deliver a total of 750 horsepower, but do not expect the same output to be offered in the X5 M too.
Expect the facelift X5 and X5 M to be launched sometime in 2023, with sales to begin in 2024.
