It reveals larger brakes and a different exhaust system

In the past few weeks Maserati has been very busy testing the new Grecale Trofeo. Right before Christmas the car was caught testing a red suit, and a few days after that it was caught testing again, this time in a different camouflage and in very cold conditions. Now, our spy photographers caught the car out once again, but this time it was parked so they could take a few close up shots.

When compared to the previous prototypes, the new one shows a few differences. First of all the brakes are bigger and feature drilled discs and red calipers. The exhaust system also ends with different pipes. As for the interior, most of it was covered, so we can not see much, but, the parts we could see look promising.

The car is still wearing a lot of camouflage, so it is very difficult to make an idea on how the Grecale Trofeo will look like, but, as we said before we expect the Grecale Trofeo to have a similar look to models like the Levante Trofeo.

The Grecale will be built on the same Giorgio platform as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which means it will borrow its engine lineup. With this in mind, we expect the Grecale Trofeo to be powered by the same engine as the Stelvio Quadrifoglio: a 2.9-liter V-6 engine that delivers a total of 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.

There are also rumors that suggest the Grecale Trofeo will be offered with the same engine as the Maserati MC20: a 3.0 liter twin-turbo V-6 engine with an output of 621 horsepower. In this case it will most likely be slightly down-tuned to match the SUV better.

With the base Grecale set to arrive in the Spring of 2022, we expect the Trofeo to arrive by the end of 2022 or in early 2023. Maserati will have to do its homework right, as the Grecale Trofeo will have to face competitors like the Porsche Macan GTS.
