• 2023 Mercedes AMG GT 63 Caught Testing For The first Time

It looks a lot like the SL, but it will also be a lot different

When Mercedes launched the new generation SL, it not only launched a replacement for the old generation SL, but also for the AMG GT Roadster. So, in the near future the only two models offered by the company will be the SL and the AMG GT Coupe.

Now that we have seen how the new SL looks like, Mercedes begun testing the coupe version. Today our spy photographers caught the next AMG GT testing, and we are not talking about a regular version, but the high trim GT 63 version.

Well at a first glance, this may look just like a SL with a fixed roof, things are not like that at all. When looked up front, you can notice that this prototype gets a lower grille and a different shape for the headlights. They also have a a slightly more vertical position giving the AMG GT a meaner looking face.

When viewed from the side, the first thing you will notice is the fastback roofline, while the rear will also get different rear lights.

We have no images of the interior, but we expect it to be similar to the SL, with the exception that while the SL is a 2+2 seater, the GT will remain a 2 seater model.

Under the hood we will get the same 4.0 liter twin-turbo V-8 engine as in the SL. In the AMG GT 55 version it will deliver 469 horses and 516 pound-feet of torque, while in the AMG GT 63 the output will go up to 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. In the upcoming future we also expect to see a six-cylinder option and a more Black Series model.

The new Mercedes-AMG GT should be unveiled sometime by the end of 2022 or in early 2023.
